To remove the crank sensor work with your left hand between the subframe and the engine while viewing from the back of the subframe, as you can see the crank sensor properly from that point. Move the silver insulation up the wiring loom away from the sensor then grab the sensors plug. Wiggle and pull at the same time to remove it. Unbolt the sensor using an 8mm socket and a long extension. If you've got a strong grip twist and pull the sensor to remove it from the engine, if not I used a 15" long pick to get behind the sensor to pull while twisting it with my left hand. Put some oil or grease on the new sensors 'O' ring before installing it. Good luck !!
This is a terribly designed engine. I have spent over an hour trying to change crankshaft sensor on my 2.0 m9r van and I have failed. I have huge hands and I can barely put my hand in the hole, in order to reach the sensor. I could barely unscrew the bolt but the sensor is not coming out. That's just nuts. Terrible terrible disgusting design of the engine.
Hey, my Dad was trying to do this on his and he couldn't get the sensor off. Then a mobile mechanic tried and he also gave up. Am I right in thinking that the crankshaft position sensor is bolted to the engine by one bolt? Then you need to remove the sensor from the clip? Attempting this myself soon after reading the Haynes manual and watching countless videos. So I just wanted to know if this is bolted in as well as clipped.
@@TracklifeTvMX hey, thanks for the reply. Surprisingly the bolt itself was easy to get out but the sensor itself feels welded in 🤣 having a struggle getting that out. Any tips? Thanks
@@Krafty No problem pal try twist and pull with some grips or pliers if you can get them in if not try a pick as mentioned in a previous comment, mine came out fairly easy if I remember correctly
I’m currently trying to get this sensor of my van....the location is a right twat. How did you manage to get it out....I’m struggling to take the connection off. Cheers.

Hi krafty yes I believe it’s bolted in, I’m guessing you’ve used your phone camera to look at it
