I bought this game a few months ago because I loved the way it looked but after firing it up the first time, I immediately got overwhelmed and regrettably backed away from it. I finally had time to sit down and watch your tutorial from start to finish and I'm so grateful for how concise and clear it is. Thanks for taking the time to share this with the newbies :) I've been playing all morning and having a blast. Cheers!
I’m so glad you finally gave it a shot. I can’t blame you for being a bit overwhelmed, but take your time and you’ll pick it up in no time :) thank you for the kind words! Live & Drink!
coming from a player with a number of hours and practice like you, a video of this type will always be enriching for the community! ♕♔☮♚♛ live and drink friend
Thank you so much! I made this to be as simple as possible, more of a primer than anything else. Once I’m home this weekend I will share it in some more Qud communities. Live and drink friend
@@Rogue_Rat I'm a noob just beginning my adventures in Qud. A video about these "other communities" could potentially be interesting. I'd love to engage with the community more or at least lurk and see what others are doing
wow this game isn't nearly as complicated as I thought it was! Thank you for condensing the game's basics so much! Now I don't feel absolutely lost. Subbed!
wandered around the game world for a few hours and realized i needed a guide like this. i’m awful at reading tutorials and usually absorb info better in detailed video guides. thanks
Pretty good and helpful. I want something just like this, but with controller input and tips for playing with controller. More specifically, steam deck. Im new and trying to learn the game, but i feel like its even harder learning this game from scratch with a controller.
I would massively appreciate a (as spoiler free as possible) break down of all the factions.. e.g, i can see mutations give faction rep, but looking at the wiki, it doesn't do a good job of telling if and why i should care about that?
Thanks, I wanted this video to be super concise but without going into excruciating detail (I'll make separate tutorials for those things). I didn't script it, but I did have bullet points of each thing that I wanted to talk about. I then edited the heck out of the video and removed all the pauses and me going UUMMMMMM and EEEEERRM
i played this game so much in early access then stopped for a year. sadly i cant maintain info more than a month so watching this for the full release has been a blessing
@@IceI3laze I would actually recommend jumping back in right now. There's just been a huge update with new UI and VFXs, and I don't think 1.0 will necessarily add much more in way of content besides the main questline, so it'll give you a chance to get reacquainted with everything :)
@@Rogue_Rat My pleasure! Thank you for the knowledge share. Your style of tutorialization is fantastic. I've just started, in the last year, getting into games like this, ToME, Dwarf Fort, Starsector, Transcendence, etc and so many of the tutorials I've been watching for them are from like 5-8 years ago by olden guys (like me lol) with bad mics and it's all contained in a quick and neat 20 -part series of 1.5 hr long vids haha. Don't get me wrong I love a lot of those series', but I wish I had you doing videos like this for every new (to me) game I play. In creating videos like this you are actively helping and supporting a community and game you obviously love (which I think is really beautiful, especially with the world, in general, being so overwhelming in so many aspects), while also creating a bridge or helping hand for people like me that can find games like this to be a bit intimidating to start. So thank you for that. As I mentioned a lot of the vids I've been watching are quite old, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you're still getting views on this video in 10 years. Keep up the great work. Liked commented subscribed!
@@infinityfabrik Wow, thank you again for such kind words and support! This tutorial is the first video I've ever "edited" (barely lol), and whilst there are a lot of great tutorials for Qud out there, I wanted to make something that could be watched within 30 minutes or so, so that people could jump straight in. Qud is a game I really love, with a great community and I genuinely believe it's the king of roguelikes at the moment; I stream it for probably 12+ hours a week, and I'm still not bored of it! You mentioned some great games btw, ToME and Starsector are two of my all-time favourites. I was toying with the idea of a Starsector playthrough on this channel. (Dwarf Fortress I'm waiting until adventure mode comes out, because I think it might even give Qud a run for it's money). Live and drink friend :)

It looks a lot lke Castle of the Winds for Windows 3.11 Used to love that game, that´s why I bought this game. Thank you for your tutorial, I was overwhelmed because the game itself doesn´t do a good job teaching how to use it properly.
Roguelike player, you would never consider switching to VI-keys?, personally, I find the placement of the fingers more intuitive and everything is nearby.
Hi, thanks for the comment :) I haven’t really ever been able to get on with using VI keys, but I definitely understand that the hand placements outs you much closer to all the other keybinds over numpad. I am a lefty so I would actually love a keyboard with a left-side numpad at some point so I can use my right hand for everything else.

When will the price of the game go down a little?
maybe the winter sale on Steam!
This game has a playable rat race mod
Why your abilities screen is like that? Mone is just text
Which version of the game are you playing? And on which platform?
comment for the algo
If youre running around and accidentally run into an npc, would that register as an "attack"?
No, not unless you hold CTRL to bypass
How do you open the help screen on steam deck?
I'm not sure, sorry :(
