    You can actually connect your graphics card directly to CPU PCI-E lanes by using a M.2 to PCI-E adapter. You will only get x4 lanes but it will still be faster than the chipset lanes

    I bought the 125W TDP version ( QXJE) for 270 dollars and I’m not really using it for gaming I just wanted to upgrade my home server from 6 cores to 16 cores 24 threads. Gaming performance doesn’t really matter to me I just needed more cores for proxmox for all the VMs I’m running
    16 cores for under 300 dollars on the latest platform is what I was going for

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’m also working on a MAC VM. I get single core performance will help but I believe more cores to spread across the VMs will help more in the long term

      @eclipsegst9419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Miyconst I wouldn't suggest it is worth it just that it might be an option if someone already had one of these and couldn't return it. But if there aren't gen4 than probably not worth it anyways. I do wonder though, why this would have no x16 slot support of any pcie generation, and if this is a rule or by chance that this sample was worse than others. Usually ES chips have this basic functionality even if other features are disabled.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@eclipsegst9419 this is a rule, and unfortunately all ES options of 12th gen I have seen have PCI-E 5.0 lanes disabled. There might be some other samples, like Qualification Samples (QS) with PCI-E 5.0 enabled, but so far, what I see, and what my contacts from China say, the ones available on AliExpress don't have PCI-E 5.0 support, these lanes are physically absent in these samples. I might be wrong, but that's what I was able to gather for now.

    Hello how are you? Could you explain me better about PCIE 5.0? I'm interested in the 12900k es, a processor that runs at 5.2ghz, as opposed to the 12900es locked at 4.6ghz. But I still don't understand the issue of the video card, the advertisers say that it doesn't work on the first PCI 5.0 SLOT. But it works on the other 4.0 and 3.0. The performance difference between 5.0 and 3.0 video cards today is minimal, not even 5%.
    Is that just the problem with this ES processor?

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a problem of all 12th gen ES CPUs as far as I know. In this case this is not a simple PCI-E 3.0 vs PCI-E 5.0 comparison. The disabled lanes are connected to the CPU, while the extra lanes are connected to the chipset, so the graphics card gets extra communication latency, since the signal travels through the chipset. Also, motherboards with two PCI-E X16 slots are rare and expensive, thus I see zero point in these ES chips, unless the price drops below the floor.
