The answer is the IMBZBK protector he just forgot to say.

  • @josephseman5333

I did see a very slight circle around the fingerprint sensor on the IMBZBK loca adhesive protector. If you watch closely you will see it and I am sure that is the reason for the added weighting device. I liked the leveling bubble on the guide also. I also noticed that the gap between the edges of the protector on the top and bottom appears to be narrower than it is on the Whitestone loca adhesive protector. I like that there are no circles to be seen over the fingerprint sensor on the Whitestone either. The Whitestone procedure of having to push down, and or lift up to make the loca move to the center seems very, very bad IMO. The bridge should drop the loca in the middle if you have to do that! Too much room for error. So then IMO the IMBZK has a better installation routine with a better guide and three protectors, and a narrower gap top and bottom, with a barely visible circle over the fingerprint sensor. The Whitestone has a harder installation method, larger gaps top and bottom, no circle around the fingerprint sensor and only two protectors in the package. To me the only down side of the IMBZBK protector is the barely visible circle over the fingerprint sensor. So even though I have the Whitestone on order (SMH) I give the IMBZBK protector the WIN over the Whitestone! One other thing that is better on the Whitestone, and the main reason I went with it over the IMBZBK protector is the CLEAR camera bump film protector. Those black glass ones are stupid unless you have the Obsidian color phone. Clear is the way to go!

Nice feedback, thanks!! IMBZBK definitely has the better installation. I kind of like the idea that the Whitestone has a little more gap.... that way more cases fit the device easier. I went with Whitestone, but hate that it's not releasing till Oct 31st. Luckily i found a code that gave me 20% off, so $31 total for 2 lifetime screen protectors isn't' horrible.

When I installed mine it just sped up the wait time of the liquid to the sides, I think they cover the fingerprint area to protect it while installing and double down by having you use the weight at that location that's protected and simultaneously making the adhesive as thin as possible at the fingerprint sensor to ensure it has minimal impact on the sensor itself. I can confirm my install went seamlessly and it's the best screen protector I've ever owned.

Looks like the only real option is to go with the ones that require adhesive, the others all seem fairly atrocious, I've gone through two sets of protector already and found my way to this video, thanks! (first one is a glass one with the ugly circle hole, couldn't take it, second one was a TPU one which scratches if you looked at it too hard).

59:04 If it's going perfectly and spreading across the screen then don't touch it but if it looks like the liquid isn't reaching right across the screen then don't be afraid to lift up the plastic phone holder to encourage it to spread out more and if it's starting to harden and still won't go try encouraging it with a squeegy or the plastic black guide to get it to spread right across. If you fail the first installation, use alcohol whipes or alcoholic/anti bacterial liquid to loosen the hardened/jellified liquid off of the screen protector to be able to completely get it back to square 1 and try again with another liquid vile so you don't waste a screen protector. I messed up the installation first time then the second time the liquid still looked like it wasn't going to spread properly so i just said screw it, and picked the plastic holder up at one end and used the black sliding tool to encourage the liquid to the edges and it ended up fitting perfectly. Now that it's on, the screen protector is awesome but definitely watch the guide video a few times through before starting and don't be afraid to get hands on if the liquid isn't spreading across the screen properly.

Was disappointed that there was no Spigen glass option. I contacted them ands they said they have no plans for it because of the curved shape. I ended up with Panzerglass which is expensive, and you only get one, but it does seem to work well. It too has a circular section for the fingerprint reader (one of the reasons I don't like in screen fingerprint readers), but I've yet to see a glass one which doesn't have that circular section. You seem to have greater choice than we do in the UK. Can't say I fancy the hassle of the UV curing liquid ones but they don't seem to have the fingerprint cutout which is nice.

And it's actual glass so it'll actually protect the display. Tempered glass is meant to act like Kevlar so when it breaks, you peel it off and get another one. Film doesn't do this.

Just got a pixel 7 pro (there was a massive discount from mint mobile). So basically the options are (because of the curved glass?) film with adhesive, tempered glass with a small amount of adhesive on the edges and the weird fingerprint cutout, and tempered glass with liquid curing?
I don’t know if I should even use a screen protector. Film seems basically worthless to me as it’ll scratch/scuff up really easily (it’s plastic, so way more things will affect the surface compared to glass). The tempered glass with the little adhesive on the edges seem terrible. And the whole liquid glue curing process is such a hassle and far beyond what I’m comfortable with.
I think I’ll be avoiding curved glass displays in the future.

Not everyone might need one. Id even take just the camera protector. I'm keeping the options in my back pocket and saving them only in case i feel i need one. I would get one for sure though if you're always in an a environment where you have the possibility for getting scratches or breaking the screen. Other wise alot of people go without. My pixel 5a 5g died on me, but before i sent it in, it had just a couple tiny scratches in the screen. small as a mouse, can't even tell its there unless you look straight at the phone and focus. Never had a screen protector for that one for the just over a year of it working. This is my replacement for it. Praying this one works unlike the 5a 😂

I just bought and received the LYWHL screen protector today. Went ahead and just installed it about 7mins ago. I didnt read the instructions. Just basically followed along with the video when he installed it. Installation went mostly smoothly. I only have one very tiny bubble towards the middle top of my phone. I think its because i probably didn't put slightly more pressure on it. Though the instructions and some of the Amazon review said to give it about 24-48hrs and the bubbles will work itself out. Even if it doesn't I'd still give this a 4.5/5 for the very simple installation and smooth feeling. Also I DO NOT have that faint line that is mentioned in the video. I actually thought i might which wouldn't have been a big deal. But its actually not on my installation AT ALL which is just a bigger plus. The protector feels very smooth almost like temper glass. I put my poetic case on it and had no issue, though i'm planning to switch to a encased phonecase in two days. Will try to update on the tiny bubble situation. Overall.. definitely recommend it. Plus its very cheap and i have a second screen protector if the bubbles annoy me :)
UPDATE: Bubble went away in a few hours. So the installation went perfect. I did notice the screen is smooth but not like temper glass as I originally thought. It has a slight film feeling to it. Though I can still type normally. I'd say this is 10/10 for film protectors

I have a pixel 7 pro and I'm wondering why you don't talk about the second most important issue with these screen protectors - image quality. Because of the curved glass, most of these screen protectors don't have full screen adhesion to the screen. You did mention that this results in low adhesion but the horrible image quality you get when you don't have full adhesion makes any screen protector without full adhesion and automatic no for me. The air gap between the screen protector and the screen causes internal reflections which ruin image quality.

In my experience the SuperShieldz Tempered Glass are horrible. I tried both in my pack & both came loose within a day and affected touch. I got the thinner ones without the fingerprint circle. 2nd one cracked in under an hour in my pocket with nothing else in my pocket. I'm currently using a knock-off brand of the WhiteStone liquid adhesive which seems to work great and is scratch resistant to my steel marking scratch awl which is hardened tool steel.

      @Disdaine82 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Wife and I also have Skinomi protectors. Problem I had was repositioning them and having to reapply the liquid. Eventually, it weakens whatever adhesive is on the sides and they won't stay down at all. You really need to be lucky, get it done in one go, and let it dry a bit before applying the sides. Even then... its a lot of effort. Was much easier on my flat P6 than it was on P7P.

I'm gonna pick up the LYWHL film protector (#4) from your link. I've tried the Whitestone on my S21 Ultra and although it provides good protection, the second you get a crack on the edges you're done. It cracks and spreads because even though it's glass it is very thin.

Great review and presentation. Thank you. The AACL looks the best to me, in my opinion. Obviously, the tempered glass protectors are the best when it comes to protecting. But I've ruined too many installations, from unleveled surfaces to soft drops. It's simply too much work for the reward. The hybrid seems like a good compromise.

@@kuztardd That is a good point. But I'm assuming (maybe wrongfully so) that the line disappears over time. At least, that has been my experience when dealing with high quality TPM protectors. Yeah it does affect it, but not as much as it does with ultrasonic sensors. Some tempered glass more than others, it has to do with the thickness of the glass, its quality and how much it distorts light.
An average tempered glass should be okay.
