I definitely prefer no men around whatsoever (I say this as a man). I don't mind men existing in the background, maybe even interacting with the protags a bit, but I generally want it to be as man-free as possible. I don't even like them as a "self insert" character; I'd prefer to just see my self as a girl.
Anyway, nice video. I haven't seen your work before, but I'm subscribed now!

Same honestly, if I'm gonna self-insert it'll always be as a girl at minimum. Also, thanks for the sub, I'm trying to educate in all ways Yuri due to the lack of people sharing what I love outside of small circles, so might as well do it myself.

@@lilahliliumlily9883 Can I ask for your opinion/educated guess on something?
I currently live in Japan, and I've noticed most book stores have a few aisles dedicated solely to BL, and they are always very clearly labeled. Meanwhile GL is much harder to locate.
Do you have a hypothesis as to why that might be?

@@warman1944 Had I to give my best reasoning, I'd just assume it's because Yaoi is significantly more popular Yuri is, so it's better to sell toward that audience. To put in perspective, on myanimelist, there's 179 tagged BL anime, while there's 109 tagged GL anime. On Novelupdates, there's 594 Yuri Novels, while there's 3059 Yaoi Novels. The top fanart ship in Genshin is Childe and Zhongli, rather of the top 10, 9 of them are Yaoi pairs and 1 of them is a straight ship of Xiao and Lumine. Us yuri fans are just a minority when it comes down to it, so I'd imagine making it easier to sell to us isn't a priority.

@@lilahliliumlily9883 I did not know those statistics, so thank you very much. One being much more popular than the other does answer the initial question, but then it raises another: Why is BL so much more popular than GL? I don't expect you to have an answer here, but do you have an educated guess?

@@warman1944 For this one, not as much as a guess. Hard to say since I'd have to understand not what makes yaoi more popular than yuri, but why Yaoi is just popular in general, and that's a subject I don't hold as much zeal for.

Was thinking of doing a video on just Yuri Knights, but decided just to go over men in general. Certain yuri fans have a certain taste of what kind of Men they're fine with seeing in yuri stories, and these are just the common picks.

Given that, I'm surprised people even find this video to watch it, but people do, so I'll continue to provide educational content to further the yuri knowledge of people.

What are* the men of Yuri? English requires a conjugation like most European languages for plural subjects.

Native English speaker here. I think it sounds just fine the way it is.
"What is..." makes it sound like a topic, which it is.
"What are..." sounds weird in this case. Like you're asking what these beings are. Are they humans? Are they aliens? Are they transformers?

@@warman1944 The subject and verb agreement aren't here at all. It sounds very weird. As the topic is on a group. Is it due to archaic structuring or "is" being more popular?
The way the video presents itself, it is basically your "Are they humans, aliens, or transformers". The video is asking a question very much like in. Either change the plural of men, or the verb as it drags too slowly.
Who would sound better, as the order sounds strange due to s'+men or lacking a definite or indefinite article. "What is a man in Yuri?" could've been good. To show the dichotomy then "What is a man to Yuri? ".
It just sounds very weird in the title. Native English speaker here as well.

Thanks for trying to defend me warman1944, but the fault lies with me. I do thing my wording is a bit weird MaoRatto, no way around it, I was trying to maintain the "What is" title theme I've been going for, but honestly it's a bit restrictive with my wording. The Idea I was trying this time was like, discussing the men inside of yuri stories, and most titles just felt weird to me given my restrictions. My English isn't great in general, with "Men of Yuri" just being the idea it's the, well, men of yuri, just sounded right to me at the time. Guess the main issue is the combination of "What is" and "Men of Yuri" which I can understand sounds weird. would require changing one or the other. I'll probably commit this sin again in the future, since I still want to try to maintain the "What is" part, but I'll keep in mine the second part that follows to flow better.

@@lilahliliumlily9883 I view it this way, if someone is bad at English. I always expect it to be another language, depending on the mistakes, I can guess what it is as most of my friends are second hand speakers. As there's a hard line between native mistakes vs. foreign, from my experience....
The many times I must remind one Italian that my language is SVO mostly, with VSO being used for questions, but his often does OVS/OSV due to latin restrictions. xD
The reason why I would say for your video " Who are the men of Yuri" it flows better and makes it clearer what the subject is as the thing you are talking about is at least are humans. The reason for the definite article, to avoid two sounds clashing.... Mainly z' in is and M in Men, also clarifies if describing or not...
I am assuming your language doesn't conjugate as much for verbs when pluralized, nor uses articles, if I am not mistaken? I am new to seeing your channel.
To be fair my language is Germanic, so nouns aren't regular on their plurality, which is common if speak Dutch, English, Swedish, German, Norwegian, or Danish. It's for hearing reasons and historical why the word for man switches to men... I heard your aspiration in the video, so it sounds like you got the most important vocieless sound right. xD

@@lilahliliumlily9883 It takes mistakes to get good at another language. In Italian, or most romance tongues. I forget to use a + the infinitive or de + the infinitive to describe. Including OSV is an option in the word order... When I must remember irregular verbs like servir, decir ( I loathe this one ), and anything that is the participle. What and Which are contextually used different in Romance vs. Germanic. So I sometimes must say " Cuáles vs Qué.
