    I have been binge watching your channel lately, I am doing a deep dive into Welsh mythology after reading about Cerridwen, and I am so glad your channel exists! I really appreciate the detail you put into the stories you tell and the research you lay out. Your story telling abilities are captivating. Thank you for all of your hard work and making this available for us!

    Welsh mythology always hints at something much bigger we never get to see. This is why it has inspired more fantasy writers than anything else.

    Absolutely fantastic!! 🤩 loved the story! I understand the meaning of the story with regards to our Welsh culture. I am going to visit that lake in May and take my children to tell them the story!

    British history in Wales is very much been hidden I think the early British Kings and Kings Princess Wales we never really hear about in mainstream.

      There’s a whole genealogy of King Arthur which is utterly bypassed by mainstream historians - Arthur was appropriated by the English monks at Glastonbury, and that is where his legend has settled; however, there’s a load more evidence for him in Wales!!

    Addressing the first question asked, two reasons for the cow to be allowed to fall into the hands of a mortal, first, the Fey may not have minded so long as it was not harmed, which is why she appears when she does, and second, it could have been a deliberate test, both can be inferred from the material.

      Indeed

      @@CelticSource I like to operate on the presupposition that there is more logic, meaning and missing coherence than is often assumed. I am constantly surprised by the way single-words or sentences in the Triads or Taliesin fit with hypothetical lost branches of the Mabinogi.

    Glad to be able to review this as the Zoom app kicked me off the Sunday meeting 4 times in a row telling me my 40 minutes were up and I needed to upgrade to Zoom Pro in order to continue. It seems Zoom is no longer free beyond 40 minutes? I've never had this experience before, and wonder if anyone else had this issue? I missed a lot of Gwilym's wonderful storytelling, looking forward to hearing that here.

      That's really strange. I teach two-hour zoom classes and I'm sure that most of my students don't have a pro account. It might be worth trying to ask about this at zoom.

    I am Cornish, and we do not have so many lakes. Wells and streams. I see here a warning not to over do your good fortune. Not to over reach. Similar to the old story of the goose which laid golden eggs. Or am I over simplifying it?

    • @CelticSource
      @CelticSource  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      precisely, it's exactly the same basic morality tale as the golden eggs

    Can I ask, is the mention of the Blackthorn significant in that the fairy is the spirit of the Blackthorn? This would be of great interest to me as I am working on a series of Green Man/ Woman drawings. Diolch. 🙏
