I am currently trying to tame mine. Everyday I have been trying to hand feed it millet or lettuce since it’s the only ones it’s not scared to eat.

Important tip, for gaining trust of wild birds as well. Talk to them, in a high soothing voice. Birds enjoy the sound of human voices talking (at least high voices like women's/children's voices or men talking falsetto) and they understand tone of voice (friendly, angry, soothing, etc.). Budgies are flocking birds who bond with others in their flock by constantly chattering and imitating each other, so that means the sound of you talking is even more important to budgies and other parrots than to other birds, because it makes you and the budgie into fellow flock members together. Your voice can help tell a bird you are its friend.

interesting, I didn't hear that the high frequency sound is better than low frequency before, I'll look into that. Thanks for sharing

I just got mine yesterday, I had him in a box (with holes) on the way home and already had a cage for him I didn't force him out the box I opend the side and put in on the open cage door and waited till he got out himself.... Now I'm in the 2 week moment where I have to let him get usto his surroundings and know that I'm the one who provides the food... I made sure I got just one so I can tame him first then get another one once I'm successful... Wish me luck guys 🤞👍

I did some of those. Also I have a tip.
Tip: if you don’t have or can’t buy a millet, then do this.
    1. Get a stick (make sure it’s not poisonous)
    2. Dip it in water
    3. Dip it in seeds
    4. I think it’s close to being a millet. 😅 I’ve done that.

I am currently taking my two budgies, and I've had them for a couple of years. When I go to tame them, I make sure that they are comfortable with my hand (if I move my hand to them and they move away, I'll move away my hand too). So make sure that when you are taking your budgies, that they are comfortable with what you want them to do.
I've had my budgies for almost w years now, and although they haven't come all the way around, they are comfortable with eating millet spray out of my hands. They aren't comfortable with sitting on my finger (with no millet) though.

You shouldn't move your hand away if they move away because then they'll learn that all they have to do is move away on your hand is going to go away so just leave it there and wait for them to come to it if you have food or something

When people watch tiktok or youtube videos that have budgies talking, mimicking RDD2, doing tricks and what not. They think that budgies can do that within a few months. Remember Budgies are like Humans. Rarely some budgies can be tamed easily if you get them from a hand fed breeder then at a local pet store. My budgie Milo was bought from the pet store along with a few others and she was tamed under a few weeks. It does take some time for budgies to get to know you and even your schedule. Please watch Budgie World and Alen AxP, theyre great budgietubers and explainsa lot about how to take care of them. I also agree that Millet is over used but if you mix millet and food that you normally feed them in your hand eventually they will fly or hop onto your hand. 15 min training sessions is great way to get to know your budgies. I recently bought (10-29-20) a few budgies and ofc i scanned the ones that i want (making sure theyre social, they enjoy playing, and making sure they are not sick. i got a timid one (still young so who knows what they went through, like Budgie World said), i am giving the two a full month to fully get used to not only me, but people who live with me.

My two budgies are as bonded as yin and yan. Sure the female fights when the male goes on her perch but if you take him out, she doesn't stop talking until you put him back in. I've even just put her out and even both but she just goes back in and starts talking until he goes in along with her. She doesn't like being outside of the cage, so she'd spend the whole time trying to look for him. And if I took him out then she'd be calling him. If I took both out then they'd be cuddling together not wanting to split. What should I do?

I have three new babies and the parents are doing a great job taking care of them. They are 4 weeks old. I have been taking them out of the nest box twice a day and gently holding them. They are still very nervous. For the most part they just want to hide in my hand. They are not eating on their own, yet. Should I just keep doing what I am doing or should I try something new. The mom is always nervous (has been for a long while) but she does not seem to get upset when I take the budgies out of the nest box one at a time. She and the dad are still feeding them. I have a question, so my mom bought 2 budgies and we've been having them for weeks I started paying attention to them from today as I saw my mom didn't do much to tame them.. I see that everyone is saying it is not good to have more than 1 budgie in a cave and if it is 2 or more you can't tame them, they seem to be really attached with each other and whenever they get separated they keep shouting for each other and want to get back together, my mom did a wrong thing by opening their cage these whole weeks without taming them and now it is just getting too hard for me to tame them..
Any ideas? I need your advises please and do you think I should separate them ? Or can I tame them together? Is it possible?

Christmas Eve, we got two 3-4 year old budgies from a friend who could not give them the attention they need. The birds will eat millet from our hands if we hold it like a popsicle, but they will not voluntarily get on a finger or approach an open hand. Is it too soon to expect them to be unafraid enough to do that? Also, we got them a new, larger cage, and now they won’t come out and explore anymore. Do they need to get used to it, or was the smaller cage better, in terms of motivating them to leave?

Hello I bought a bourke parakeet from a pet store that only sells exotic birds and they didn't know how old my parakeet is. And when I arrived I specifically asked for a male parakeet and it was the last one but I'm not sure it's a male anymore and she took it and turned it like a pancake in her hand to show how it is. docile, and his wings clipped. And at home, he doesn't want to come out of his cage and he's scared of me and that make me want to cry.

no, you get tetanus shot if you got hurt outside where you don't know the place, usually if you get scratched by stray cats that you don't know where cat has been you get the shot, budgies are pet birds, and they don't carry tetanus with them.

I've tried feeding them vegetables and fruits but they won't touch them. When i got them, i didnt know i had to feed other than seeds so I think they are only used to seeds now. Ice and Kiwi can fly, and i let them out of their cage every day. (Oh and i also own a cat but my cat is in the upstairs of my house. The budgies are downstairs, but i barely spend any time downstairs.) Can someone please tell me some tips to tame them? I can't get near them with a peice of millet without them screaming and flying away. Thanks

You seem to spend all your time online and goofing off instead of paying attention to your birds I can tell by your name and profile and that you apparently don’t spend that much time around your birds which is a terrible mistake. You should start by keeping them in there cage and just doing things by them like reading, writing and honestly anything that doesn’t crate too much noise then once you notice they start to trust you a little more you can start maybe talking to them putting millet / other liked food in their cage and just spending more time around them and after that maybe go watch some videos on how to bond with your birds. some bird channels here on TH-cam I would recommend are “Flock Talk” “live laugh birds” “feather beautiful” “Salvador budgie” “Alen AxP” and you might be able to find some others along the way
Edit: would be nice if you told me if this worked (you don’t have to but it would be interesting to know)

Budgie world sir!!!! I am a subscriber for a year i need your help.
Yesterday, I was doing my usual bonding time with my boy budgie who is 2 years+ old. He has not been tamed, never leaves his cage whenever the door is open he does not leave. But today I tried to take him out of the cage door with millet in my hand so he's not afraid but then i recognized he was feeling uncomfortable so i tried to place him back in BUT he flew out of my hand and went a few steps and then stayed on the floor after having a whirl.
I grabbed him BY THE WORST SPOT EVER WITHOUT KNOWING, THE WINGS!!!!!! So i grabbed the wings and hold his body with it and it was really hard because he is in so much pain and he bit me obviously he is discomforted. I let him back in his cage and he was silent for an hour until he started chirping again and then ate... millet from my hand again?? Is this normal or is my budgie just crazy! I hope he is ok. He was very close to me and i dont want to lose our hard bond. I always trying to tame him but neither of us are ready! So please help kind sir, thank you and I have watched your ads while doing my homework to support futhermore.
