Einat, All I can say is WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! This is magnificent. I TOTALLY agree with Jeannine Thames....You are MOST DEFINITELY 'THE QUEEN' of Steampunk! This technique REALLY does look just like leather. I have a slew of TP flattened rolls, & I can't wait to make one or several of these. TFS! 🤣🤩
Ms Kesslar, I think I have seen it all when Lo and Behold I come across your You Tube. Such talent and creativity astounds me. I am enthralled with your mini album faux leather technique. Who would have thought TP rolls could be so beautiful. I will never look at a TP Roll the same again. All will now see is LEATHER!!!!!! I am off to watch your other videos as we speak...Thank you for this great tutorials.
Oh My Gosh! Your cover and binding technique is nothing less than stellar. I absolutely love it. Really, It takes a generous heart to take your valuable time to teach us all one of the best techniques I've seen for binding! Woo Hoo!
I had hubs go get glycerin within 15 minutes after watching your video.. Now have the pages drying and ready to start the cover.. Thank you so much for your time and effort in making this video to share..
Very clever, very beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I probably won't make a book, but I will incorporate it into paintings. So many possibilities. Goodness I love this...The glycerin leather look WOW! Fabulous work..looks like real leather. WOW! Thank you.❗👍
Hi Elnet this is a great tutorial! Toilet rolls are made with recycled paper & are not permitted to be added to our recycle bins... Your project recycles them once again in a fabulous way. Thanks so much
Hi Einat, Thanks for sharing the "binding secret", as I just made my very first TP mini before seeing this tutorial.... and as you may guess the very same tear happened! I panicked thinking the project was ruined because I already put so many work hours into it, but now can fix it properly! I love the steampunk design and will use all the techniques you taught on your video tutorials especially the Faux Leather look! Thanks so much again!! Kathleen
Einat, this is one AWESOME!!! TUTORIAL!!! I have enjoyed Part 1 and cannot wait for Part 2. To me, I expect Tutorials to be lengthy. To me, that's what Tutorials are supposed to be all about. To teach someone, no matter how long it takes. I know there must be limits to how long a video can be, but I love it when they [tutorials] are in parts, especially if I enjoy myself and the person is not babbling on about something other than explaining their project. You did just perfect. You explained everything the way you should have and I was not bored; not even once. I was glued [no pun intended- lol] to my computer watching you. I even brought my husband over to show him what you did and he was amazed and wowed. He thought it was BRILLIANT!!! and so do I!!! GREAT JOB!!! and I appreciate that you took the time to make this tutorial. I've save it to my TH-cam and will be creating my own mini album. I can't wait. All I need is the GLYCERIN, which, God willing, I will buy tomorrow at my pharmacy. Can't you tell how excited I am? I've written you a whole book here lol. Well, thanks so very much. I really am very appreciative that you've taken the time to make this Tutorial for us, your subbies. Be safe, have a blessed day, and I'm on to Part 2. Ciao!!!
Einat, that’s so awesome 😎 and fabulous!!!!!!!!! I really love 💕 this beautiful mini album.....I’m going to watch the 2nd part soon. You’re so talented and clever and amazing xx Mags
Einat, this tutorial may be 4 years old but it taught me a wealth of information. Like how to use my Perfect Pearls with water. How to use my alcohol inks and make chipboard look aged like copper. How to use all the cogs I bought. I didn't know I liked steampunk - well I do now...thanks for sharing...hugs from Arizona...;)
I just discovered your tutorials, and I immediately became a huge fan. I love this album, and I appreciate that you shared how to do the faux leather pages. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! I can hardly wait to try this.
Hi Einat, just discovered you on TH-cam and I subscribed ! I do more scrapbooking but getting into and loving Mixed Media. Your tutorials are full of helpful ideas, very informative and so easy to duplicate. Thank You for sharing ! You've got me hooked !
Really enjoyed this. Your “leather” is beautiful. I’ve been doing a similar thing for a long time ( I use hair conditioner instead of glycerin, but same principle), but it never even occurred to me once to emboss the paper. What a fantastic idea and great look. Thank you b
I have a whole drawer in my bathroom full of TP rolls!!! Thos looks great!! I did this before with hair conditioner. I learned that from Pam, from The Paper Outpost. Either way, it's cool. Thx for video. Austin,TX USA
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! Great instruction, tips, and techniques...wow! I truly loved this video! I was needing a little inspiration to get me going on my TP mini and found your video. Thought I would breeze through it but ended up getting very involved and totally inspired...so big thanks! On to part 2 now! Lil hugs! xo
Great tutorial and so nice to learn new techniques, the faux leather look is really nice and really does look like real leather. I am looking forward to watching part two of this tutorial Tfs, Janet
im so in love with this álbum! I'm into steam punk and found everything like this so interesting. love old things and thing that make with recycle stuff.
I just adore your videos Einat! You are an amazing, talented artist and your tutorials are so clear, you describe each and every step so that we are able to follow along.Love your work!
Fabulous so far, Steampunk is my all time fave style so yummy! We have a wonderful artist/crafter here in UK called Sheena Douglas who taught us all the faux leather techniques, exactly the same way; I have a bottle of glycerin in my stash now, lol! What a fantastic trick with the bandage (don't worry, secret's safe with me...). That would be very strong! All the clock parts are amazing & yes, I do have a collection of all genuine parts but am running out. Oh Noooo! Mine are from EBay & I am looking right now for the biggest but cheapest lot I can to stock up. Your main focal piece, actual dome like cover & base is incredible, I NEED one (or more) of those so will search for similar too.... Yep, faux leather is huge here in UK, chemists are so confused as to why suddenly the sale of glycerin has gone thru the roof?! Lol... Crafters! What a wonderful group of peeps we are!! I am late watching this & part 2 as they are that bit longer so had them on "watch later" list. Hope that's ok. Will have to go to saved list also as I am rubbish with all the technical folding & measuring bits. At last, a binding system I may just about be able to follow! Yay, thank you! This was totally meant to be as I even have prepped toilet rolls. Didn't know when I created them what they would be but now I do!! Brilliant video & album. Tfs & encouraging! C☺
Love the project. Tip: If you glue 2 or 3 pieces of the same cover stock together to make a 'spacer' and use that to space spine and cover pieces.... your cover stock wont have so much stress on it and crack. Having said that .... using the cheesecloth is a great idea
OMG... (Smile)... you had me at toilet paper... (Laughing)... my family laugh at me because I collect them for many many reasons... I was making hand made Puppets for my Acting Class and got the great idea to fold a toilet paper roll (rounding each end)... It made a great mouth (put it inside the puppet's mouth... Your video is great... Thank you for sharing... ;)
+T Phillips Gel medium seals the pages. In order to create the faux leather I used distress ink which is water soluble so in order to protect it and give a shiney effect I used the Gel Medium. You can find a lot more information about gel medium and what it does here: scrapinit.blogspot.co.il/2015/05/the-ultimate-guide-to-acrylic-mediums.html
Thanks great tutorial and simple to follow! But....I'm an italian lady and don't understood how many parts of water and glycerine. Can you tell me, pls?

Could you please tell me what Brand of Toilet Paper you have used? I am desperate to make this gorgeous creation, but all the brands I have tried, the toilet paper rolls have been far to small compared to yours. Some advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you so much and so looking forward to your reply. :)
Rechelle Thackray I'm not from the US so telling you the brand will not work :) I've had a lot of subbies from the US who used american tp rolls and it worked out fine. try using paper towel rolls cut in half. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video - wonderful instruction! Thank you so much. I want to place this leather-ish paper onto a card I'm making and I think I get the idea.

Tip: If you glue 2 or 3 pieces of the same cover stock together to make a 'spacer' and use that to space spine and cover pieces.... your cover stock wont have so much stress on it and crack.
Having said that .... using the cheesecloth is a great idea
I used some tp rolls for a project and just flattened them by ironing them. It's amazing how flat they get! And so easy to do too! Try it! :)
