I did this but I made several layers and mod-podged them together. After that, I rubbed some beeswax onto it. Total leather replacement without hurting the ani-mules 😂🤣 Thanks for the great video!
5/3/23: I made two on yesterday and they came out great. I love the crumbled paper method 'cause it makes it look and feel more like leather to me as opposed to just using plain brown paper bags. And after I put the Decoupage on top, WOW, the final look was fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to post this project. I will now make many in various sizes for photos and such.
Oh what a wonderful video of making a cheap and quick feaux leather. I will check it out and cover a wallet with this feaux leather. Yes you inspired me. Thank you very much. Greetings from Bavaria 😀👍
This design is really lovely. I am putting together a cardboard fireplace for every day use and I am going to try this leather design in inserts on the front. Thank you for the inspiration!!
Just found you and your lovely videos. So glad I did! I’m very new to this, but so excited to be learning. Your success with the Fabritac glue is due to it being acetone based. The water based glues cause the problem. Anytime only one side of a paper is moistened, it’ll try to curl to that side. This is also true when eco-printing or coffee-staining paper. Hope this helps! 😊
I've seen similar techniques but I like yours more because you can have any thickness of 'leather' by having a thicker or thinner backing board. I want to make some leather folios that I'm going to use foam core boards (so 5 or 6mm thick). This would just wrap around nicely and create a nice thick leather board. The only real limit is how wide your baking paper is. Good job.
love this style of faux leather!! im definately going to try this!! and i also got a kick out of your NON existent words and the fun attitude of just making those up!!
Wow! This was so inspiring to me. I have an obsession with vintage looking journals and I collect them but making my own would be amazing. And this tutorial is so clear and actually looks like something I could do. Thank you so much I’m gonna try this! 😘
Good tutorial! The Fabri Tac is acetate based and the tacky glue is water based, I think. So the tacky glue will warp the paper and the Fabric Tac won't.
What everything is dry on your cover where it was wavy on the edges from tacky glue, just cover with parchment paper and iron over it really quickly! You did an absolutely stunning job ❤
I’m new sub. Excellent tutorial. Detailed, informative and your English is excellent. So considerate to include both metrics and imperial measurements, along with not editing out the glue booboo, but allowing to learn about the difference in the glues. Thanks so much
Thanks for sharing this wonderful technique! I always love your tutorials, you make them easy to follow with good instruction and details. This faux leather is super sweet & I'll give a go for sure!
Thank you so much! Another really helpful video! I will try this technique to make a "midori - style" notebook with elastic cord so I can easily change-out the pages. Thank you!
Great tutorial...thank you! I will definitely make a notebook like this, only since I am a "junk journaler," I will probably use some of your fantastic papers for the inside pages and do a 3 hole pamphlet stitch for the binding. This would look fantastic in a standard Midori-style travelers notebook too! Lots of applications for the faux-leather look. I really enjoy your tutorials.
Thank you Tinne! I've tried using paper bags for faux leather but they are thick and difficult to work with. I'm excited to try your technique! It will be perfect for a travel journal I'm making for my step-daughter. Her first trip to England. ❤️👍🏻
Tinne, I really really love 💕 your faux leather journal, it looks so rich and stunning and if I was going to make faux leather I would want it for a journal 📓 cover. Thank you so much xxx Mags
At 14:19 in this video, you use a black handled pen-like tool with a slant metal edge (used to peel back double sided tape). I am unfamiliar with this tool but imagine it would be useful in many ways. Can you please tell me what it is called so that I can look for a similar tool? Thanks~
Really nice Tinne!! I've never actually seen a video on how to make faux leather out of paper. I loved this!! I like making junk journals so I'm going to try this for one of them. Hope it comes out as pretty as yours. I've been making a journal for my brother in law but have been really stumped on a cover. Thanks!! Hugs 😘 Kelly Weiskopf
I was sewing the pages in by old worn out leather strip. Two holes in the pages like you did with the staple. With tie in back, with enough left to wrap around to keep closed.
This is the third one I have watched and it is easily the best. The first one required a lot of fancy equipment and the instructions in the second were vague and the woman rambled and waffled a lot.
Oh wwwooowww this is awesome! Thankyou for showing us this! I will definatly give it a go. I may need to make a fake label though. I can't find them anywhere here in Australia.
What would you like to make with this faux leather paper? Let us know in the comments!
I will make a "crumpy" passport holder. Greetings from Costa Rica pura vida!
I want to make a cool old looking journal for this week's school assignment of a Lewis and Clark expedition journal entry. Y'know, to make it fun!
Wow! This is a beautiful project - thank you!!!
Oohhhhh a vintage journal cover would be good!
Yes do it
I did this but I made several layers and mod-podged them together. After that, I rubbed some beeswax onto it. Total leather replacement without hurting the ani-mules 😂🤣 Thanks for the great video!
Lovely little notebook, these would make nice men's gifts!
So much easier than the glycerin method! Thank you!
I love these faux leather covers!

Really enjoyed your presentation ❤
Tacky glue has too much water and fabritac, 3in1 and fabrifix don't. And that's what makes the wavy paper. I love your designs and kits.
absolutely beautiful
This is such a beautiful little notebook!!! I love it!!!
What a brilliant tutorial! I will definitely trying this. Thank you!!
Love it, Love it, Love it....thank you very much for your video !

It's the spatula from the Silhouette brand (but other digital cutting machine brands have it as well).
@@vectoriadesigns Oh my stars! Thank you for the information and the prompt response! Bless you!

Would baking paper be the same as parchment paper ?
Yes! I used baking paper.
