37 here, was 14 when Halo came out,17 for Halo 2, 20 years old in college for Halo 3. I have tried explaining to my kids how insanely huge Halo was bigger than anything now.
Think it was Act Man who made a video about how huge Halo was. I think people need to see footage of the lines to the midnight releases, the Halo 2 ad at, I think, Times Square and Piccadilly Circus and everything else about how huge that game was.
I love this perspective because I feel it proves to the jaded older fans that the continued popularity of the franchise is not built entirely on the pillars of nostalgia. I was born in 01 so I was lucky to experience everything, but I was the "squeaker". My brother and I would play the old Halo games as kids. I can't even remember exactly which one I started with. We were about 8 or 9 years old when we played Halo 1, 2, and 3 because our grandpa was a big gamer and had all the games at his house so when we played them there we would come home and ask our dad to buy the games or rent them from Blockbuster, lol. Then Halo Reach when it came out, and that was the first time we got our dad to buy Xbox Live. Before we got Xbox Live, though, all we did was replay missions, fight each other in the missions, explore the landscape, and use glitches to get out of the maps. Halo Reach was so much fun for us (our favorite) because I loved playing Forge and making custom maps, but my brother played multiplayer a lot and had to force me to play with him because we had to play split-screen until we got separate Xboxes. But I'm glad we played split-screen at the time because it is how I prefer to play the old Halos now. Whenever we get the time and feel nostalgic, we play the old Halo games on split-screen. It is just a different kind of experience and reminds me of when I was a kid. Great video though you did a great job on this. Definitely subscribing and I'm redownloading the game again because you reminded me of how much work people put into the custom maps.

Ahhh yes a fellow squeaker. I'm from '02 got to play Halo cuz my dad used to play halo 2, and then when he got the 360 in 05 he basically transformed the original xbox into the family console. So I played CE and 2 as a 3-4 year old lol. Only undertsood the game when I got around 6-7 years old. When Halo 3 came out I was waiting with my dad outside the microplay with grown ups. So many good memories, I'm actually getting all worked up writing this lol
Im a 07 kid too. Seeing halo become what it has hurt worse than any brrakup ive ever had. I got into halo from my uncle who was a CE vetran. The ammount of times this community has said "halo is back" is depressing. For halo 4, 5, infinite, the halo studios artstyle showcase, everything. It sucks.
Really good video!! Since we’re sharing our Halo stories in the comments I thought I’d share mine. I got into the series around 2021 to take my mind off of a pretty bad breakup. I found CE at a local second hand store and immediately fell in love. I think I played CE, 2, ODST, Reach, and 4 on repeat over the course of like 2 weeks on my 360, then bought MCC on Steam to play 3 and check out the multiplayer. I understand why people hate the Funny Number Company™️, but I like think most of 4, 5, and Infinites faults are more at Microsoft’s hands, minus maybe the art style shift. I still think that could’ve worked better had Chief worn the H3 armor until the end of 4, so he kinda stuck out as “old guard” while the new armor style was for the “new guard.” Halo’s multiplayer is at its best when it’s arcady and casual in my opinion, so CE is still my favorite in the franchise with 4’s chaotic BTB close behind. For some reason I hold 4 really close to my heart despite all its faults. I really like Infinite too, but something about the matchmaking makes a social match feel like my life depends on winning. Also I’m not gonna lie, but I kinda wish 5 had a PC port so I could play it and make my own opinion on it rather than just repeat what I hear on it.
I was born in 05 and I literally have zero nostalgia for Halo I might've played Halo CE when I was 14 but I don't remember even finishing the second level. I bought Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 in 2021 and then Halo MCC later on Steam, that's when I started falling in love with Halo (Reach is my favorite).
I remember being passed the massive Duke for the very first time to play this "Halo" thing that people could not stop talking about in '02. I remember rushing home from school to play Halo 2 in '04. I remember skipping high school classes to pick up my Halo 3 Legendary in '07. It's strange to hear from a Halo fan who was not present to experience these huge moments and arrived when the party was already over. But it's good to hear the original games and universe hold up timelessly outside the hype of the 00s. Even if the new stewards of the franchise keep failing, they can't truly kill what made the Bungie Era so special.
I’m only a year older than you, I discovered Halo through MCC on Gamepass in 2019. I have been I diehard fan ever since. It’s so cool to hear someone who has such a similar story.
I'm 21, I played Halo when I was really young. My first Halo game was Halo 2, I fell in love with the franchise after that. I still play Halo 2 to this day, but since I'm older I appreciate Halo 2's narrative more. My favourite characters when I was young was 'The Arbiter' and 'Johnson', I liked them back then because big dinosaur and badass man, I like them now because of the previous reasons but now I like them more because back when I was young I didn't appreciate their complexity.
I've been a fan of this franchise ever since I was in the 4th grade; I'm now 30 years old. It was really enjoyable listening to you talk about your experience as a Halo fan coming from a younger generation especially. It makes me happy people are still able to get into this game, it's definitely refreshing to see. Great video man, keep it up.
This is the most down to Earth video I've seen. I'm glad I don't feel alone because of the overall low interest of Halo at the moment, but I do feel the games have potential it's just going to take some time for these new devs to cook up something for everyone. I am a 2000 kid straight up born at the start of the millennium, my first memories started watching my older brother play Halo 2 on the OG Xbox when I was 4. I played the games when I was in my teens on the 360 primarily Reach and 4 with my friends. I skipped 5 cause I went to PS4 for a time. Now in my 20s I got myself excited when the first flights for Infinite were announced played the game and tried to strick through and through the bad and the good. Currently I'm sticking between Infinite and MCC maybe picking up a book or two, but we'll just have to see where the future takes us. Take care Spartan.

I'm 06! I also have literally no nostalgia, but I love this franchise to my heart. I don't really remember how exactly I got into it, but it definitely was something related to Halo 2. The TV series did spark by interest back and paved the path towards learning more and more lore. HiddenXperia also did play a role in my journey of becoming a Halo fan. I started digging more deeper and learned many things from stuff that happened in 1999 in Bungie to recent ones. For me, story is everything. That's why I love Halo 2 soo much. And for gameplay, I like the way Infinite plays. Personality, I have high hopes for Halo Studios. ✌️
Oh man, this is such a great perspective. I really want to thank you for sharing this. I was born in 2001 and got into Halo around 2010, the time of Reach. I remember getting excited for Halo 4, and the uncontainable excitement. And then it came out, I loved it. But suddenly I saw all of these Halo veterans, who at the time I viewed as ancient lol, and they absolutely hated it. Ever since then, I've stuck to the reasons I love Halo and why I've remained in love with it through the second half of its life so far, and arguably the half that people have hated the most. Halo is a special franchise. Those who get it, get it. It'll always be my favorite game franchise and you, my friend, brought hope back into my heart. Let's all keep sharing our love for this franchise and let out joy speak louder than the hate!
I only really got into Halo properly a couple years ago when I bought the MCC, but being in my 20s I remember it being present in the background of my childhood and I used to love the odd game of Reach firefight when I was at someone else's house and they had an Xbox unlike me. I also remember the ODST ad being the single coolest advertisement in the world (still is) and thinking it was a real military ad until halfway in.
I was also born 07 and remember my dad made me start with the original halos instead of giving me the newest game at the time which was 4 and the flood scared the shit out of me as a kid to the point where I didn't continue playing it until a year later so I can heavily relate.
The point about feeling improvement and playing better than your enemy is the perfect summary of why I play it. Your kills feel earned. Your deaths, while they suck, feel like it's something you can correct. It's like a sport compared to other games.
I always think about the video “Elders React to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, where half the geriatric people manage to get kills despite not knowing how to move because they could vaguely get the enemies in their aim assist cone and delete them.
Ha. What it means to be a newer fan. Got into Halo last year, and.... Loved it. My friend go me into it, we played in storyline order, so reach first, infinite last, skipped halo 5 tho. Halo changed what games I play. I left other games. And started playing Halo. Put easy 400+ hours into all Halo Games combined. Then I was introduced to another "dying" game. Titanfall 2. Sunk another 200+ hours into that, and it made me realize, that halo did a lot. It changed what games I play (You made a point on this, and I completely agree.) It made me realize that old games are soooooooo much better than new ones. Kinda quit halo rn, just because im not really having much fun with any games. (my internet also sucks, so that may be part of the reason, at least for titanfall)
Me and you kinda had the same introduction to halo, I love infinite although many OG halo fans talk about how the 343/Halo Studios games suck I like them, I want to see Halo become what it once was. Infinite’s multiplayer is so fun I wish others could see that
I went to Seattle to watch the HCS world championship tournament and I gotta say it was the best halo thing ive ever been to ever! It was litterally where 343 announced the rebrand to Halo Studios, it was like watching an 1700s french execution!

'03 born here, probably got into Halo around late 2010 on the OG Xbox. At this point, outside of multiplayer on MCC, I mostly just engage with fan made content. For around a decade I've watched as 343 released flop after flop, thinking each one might be Halo's revival. I'm just tired. I still love what this franchise was, but I don't think it will ever reignite that thrill it once did so easily. Call me jaded, but I can't even look at anything from Infinite without cringing.

I'm an 04 kid so I guess I was just barely self-aware during Halo's golden years. While I didn't get a chance to play any of the games I remember watching videos of Halo on TH-cam and how I thought Master Chief was the coolest guy ever. I only "recently" picked up MCC on Steam in 2022 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it, but it does blow to see what the franchise has turned into nowadays.
Bein a 02 child I remember my mom said I was 2 when I first played Halo 1 and has a video of me playin it, yet the 2nd one wasnt even out yet but because of my fascination with aliens. This video was awesome bud
I could see Halo resurfacing. Just the fact this video exists says something. I was introduced to Halo 3 when I was 5. Back in 2008 and it's still a game I find myself returning too. Just keep the love for the game alive since there's a lot more to the game than just what it brought. It had the world in its palm for a good decade and has inspired people to do so much. It was a simple party game that brought people together. I hope that in 2026 we can finally see a game that's meant for Halo fans and not just banking off its idea.

Bro as a day 1 Halo veteran, I just played COD last night for the first time in nearly 10 years and I lead almost lead every game in kills. TOO EASY!. Then I hoped back on Halo and somehow I got destroyed 3 games in a row😭😭

A real Halo fan, even though you don’t have that nostalgia factor. Been playing since day 1 had it on PC before I even got my first Xbox. My old gamer tags I think then were (T8man and xXKillEmRickJamesXx) I miss the Bungie timeframe but alas it was a good run, unfortunately they were not happy with Microsoft at the time. From the lore, weapons, art style for the atmosphere, storytelling with connections to myths and mythology, the music oh my the music I still listen to all of Martin’s music since. And if you remember peak TH-cam animation back then it was Master Chief vs Samus by Monty Oum which I believe was the animator behind RvB and RWBY.
Hey I'm a 96 kid and wanted to add my thoughts. My great journey was much like your own. My friend introduced me to Halo 2 after school one day and I was hooked. By the time Halo 3 came out I had played HCE & H2 about 4 times each. I became a fan on Halo's journey to to top and I've sadly seen it's decline. But I love it so much that I couldn't leave after Halo 4. Little known fact among you younger fans is that 343 made the DLC maps for the Bungie games, and they were terrible. The fanbase at the time of the handover was extremely worried as 343 had a track record of making subpar content and then blaming the fans. When Halo 4 finally released, our worst fears has come true and like always 343 ignored the fan base. I really really wanted to like Infinite and for the most part i do. It the best 343 Halo imo, but the treatment of the fans by 343 has tarnished any good will I have for Halo. I'm hopeful that Halo Studios will revive it but in truth, I won't be playing it. You get to a certain age where you realize that Halo (& games in general) are made for you anymore, and that it's time to pass the torch.
An '01 kid here! Yeah Halo 4 was scary. But holy cow, kid me did try at it again... But ya'know flood missions. I never got to play Halo 2 until MCC came out and used to head cannon the Long Night of Solace Mission as being the prologue to Halo 3 (not totally seriously of course but it was the closest I had okay!) I love Halo, and I think my feelings towards Halo have been seeded with too much cynicism from the Halo boomers and I let them influence my opinions too much. I understand things are sucky for us right now, but the world has changed and we have all changed. I missed the golden age, I played Halo 4 and Reach multiplayer. Cynicism can be healthy, it gave me more realistic expectations for Halo Infinite. I enjoyed my time with Halo Infinite I really did but I kinda fell off because of the slow content cycle, which wouldn't had been an issue for me if it wasn't for the declining population numbers hitting Oceania the hardest. I thought Forge would had brought me back I think it still could, map design is a fun thing I have enjoyed in a few video games. I think that the Halo community feels like Humanity after Reach. I hope Halo Studios making a remake can be our Installation 04 moment. I hope Halo Studios does a Doom 2016 with Halo, thats the thing we really need. And we need it now more than ever. Viva La Halo
Halo infinite is an insanely good game. People complain about the game but it's open world. It's obviously going to have problems. I also played halo 5 and I also thought it was good. I just feel like people hate modern halo. No matter what they do.
The only problem of the open world is simply the fact that they never updated the old stuff and never added anything new, its curse is that it's stuck in 1.0 forever.
halo fans always hated on new releases. They hated Halo 2 when it released because of the Arbiter levels, Halo 3 for not having Arbiter levels, Halo Reach for having bloom, Halo 4 for being too modern etc. Happens every time. Then a few years pass, and the hated game becomes liked. Infinite was hated for a good reason, though. It released half-finished. We never got the episodic format of campaigns. It took years for multiplayer to feel compete.
04 kid i never really got into the halo games but i recently found my dad copy of combat evolved for the original Xbox and im praying its backwards compatible with my series X if i can get the damn disc drive to work
Halo needs to go back to feeling like Halo 3, with it's simplistic movement and low gravity, goofy physics. Halo 3 plays so differently to other FPS so it stands unique, but what Halo has been turning into is something which, yes has unique elements, but it still just blends in with all the other fast paced and colourful shooters.

it is a constant cycle with halo fans. a new game is announced, everyone gets overhyped, features are cancelled, people say "wait till it launches before you criticize it", then it releases and everyone who was overhyping it turns on it since it's the popular thing to do. it's a continuous rinse and repeat after every game

I play Halo for the amazing campaigns. Even Halo 5 has fun gameplay. I just am worried that this franchise will end with open plot points that never get resolved and a story that never finishes. Halo Infinites campaigns story was good, but it didn’t progress anything. I think more than anything we need the reason why the elites rejoined the Covenant and why the truce broke.
For all the times I hear that Halo is a Boomer shooter, it's quite a nice surprise to see people such as yourself actually joined the fandom this late into its lifespan. After all the bad press Halo gets nowadays, I was losing hope anyone new would want to play these games.
As someone who was 16 playing halo 2 with 10 friends on 4 brick tvs, and cords running all through a house... I lament the fact you didn't get to firsthand experience the feeling of fervor of this franchise during its peak time. I still love the franchise but 343 is an abomination of bungee. now imagine that... a modern halo who say it's ok without sprint. im a modern fan myself. MCC was my first game. but halo 5 is where i spent most of my time. i can play classic or modern it's whatever to me
it's not dying, the player base is pretty stable, yeah it's no longer the big name from back then, thanks to the downfall that started with Reach and the 2 fuck-ups that are Halo 4 & 5 and that it took Infinite 2+ years after release to finally have everything that should have been there on day 1 didn't help either xD but currently Infinite is in good state, just dumb that they cancelled everything that was planned or in the works and nearly done for it.

My favorite pick remains the 3rd one. Halo Infinite is like junk food. There are objectively bad things in the game, like the campaign could've been better. But there are things you like in the game. You can join a match in customs browser, which is good. I played it in a Toy Story map a few times. I had a fun time for a while. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a game that's bad but some things are enjoyable. Though the game didn't obsess me personally. I stopped to play Halo Infinite for a year and I focused on other games I like, Resident Evil Revelations 1, Mouthwashing, Apex Legends or Valorant a bit. Other than that, not bad video.
It isn’t really dying per say, though it ain’t the massive juggernaut of a franchise that it once was back in the early to mid 2000s (kinda like Pirates of the Caribbean now that I think about it).
Skyrim and Fallout are wonderful games too, but I've played skyrim more than Fallout to learn that those games and their layout are not my strong suit 😅 but i love the endless *Epicness* of the stories.
Dude, you think you're coming in late, I barely got to play the campaign a couple of years ago and still haven't touched a multiplayer because I'm saving it for my series what did I miss where I play games I missed out on. Which unfortunately was already bloated with Battlefield due to the concerns of service being shut down and the games being removed from storefronts. And currently my schedule is full of nothing but titanfall, dead by daylight, Battlefield 2042, and Black Ops 6. Thankfully I'm done with the campaigns. It's just difficulty tweak now. And once that's done it's still going to have to wait because Modern warfare 3 is also on the list, and I don't know how long that's going to last on the game pass. I honestly don't think it's going to stay since they haven't bothered to put more Call of duty's on the game pass. Not even the old school ones. And that's still not including Battlefield 1 and 5 which I haven't touched yet. I'm not taking the chance that their service don't shut down anytime soon. And on top of all that, I have a second channel for no commentary playthroughs and video game preservation. Which means it's very important that I at least get one or two matches of each individual multiplayer game mode. For that reason alone, video game preservation. You can save the video game files all you want, but you can't say the server and its players. Unless you get footage of it. Then that moment in time is preserved. I don't know if I'm going to be getting to Halo anytime soon. So I can only say one thing about the multiplayer at the very least. Please don't die. Please don't die. Please..... Don't..... Die.
Halo and Minecraft are the ONLY two games that make me feel human. Old call of duty games i sometimes play, but back to the point. I don't wanna play all these quote quotes: "Games," people don't shut up about, especially Fortnite. Hell, Fortnite is one of the very reasons i hate the internet. Dont get me wrong, Fortnite is a successful game, but i only like the OG. I love Minecraft because i feel free to choose what i want to do. Im sure some people can understand what im trying to say. *Now for Halo.* You can not tell me flying in space with an alien bomb into an alien spaceship WHILE YOU WEAR A LITERAL MILITARY SPACESUIT (I know there were other jokes I could've chosen but its my choice of the funny). My point is, in general, playing on all of these Halo games has made me feel so much. -Fearless to take on a challenge. -Honoring the friends and foes I've journied with. -Knowing what it's like to lose or win in a war. -Finally, and most importantly.. *Playing on controller makes me feel more challenged but also more desperate to complete Halo reach on Legendary difficulty.* I know this was unnecessarily long, but im speaking from the heart.
Mid to late 20's? Bro Halo was popular in High school when it peaked. Most of us that experiences Xbox Live H2/3 in their prime are in our mid 30's now.
The bungie halo games have an irreproducible soul to them. Slapping new games that lack that same soul will not bring back the magic in the franchise rather we should instead appreciate what we had by keeping it alive. If you have time and know a good venue, start a lan party.

Nice vid! Since halo 5 I started to develop the probably not popular opinion that halo's time has come and past. I really started to wonder if it can compete with top flight market games like fortnite/cod so on. I hope it can and hope to see it do better in the future. I'm in my mid 30s so I got to live through the so called "glory" days of halo. I do in some sense consider myself lucky for it.

I got into halo from my uncle who was a CE vetran. The ammount of times this community has said "halo is back" is depressing. For halo 4, 5, infinite, the halo studios artstyle showcase, everything. It sucks.

I got into the series around 2021 to take my mind off of a pretty bad breakup. I found CE at a local second hand store and immediately fell in love. I think I played CE, 2, ODST, Reach, and 4 on repeat over the course of like 2 weeks on my 360, then bought MCC on Steam to play 3 and check out the multiplayer.
I understand why people hate the Funny Number Company™️, but I like think most of 4, 5, and Infinites faults are more at Microsoft’s hands, minus maybe the art style shift. I still think that could’ve worked better had Chief worn the H3 armor until the end of 4, so he kinda stuck out as “old guard” while the new armor style was for the “new guard.”
Halo’s multiplayer is at its best when it’s arcady and casual in my opinion, so CE is still my favorite in the franchise with 4’s chaotic BTB close behind. For some reason I hold 4 really close to my heart despite all its faults. I really like Infinite too, but something about the matchmaking makes a social match feel like my life depends on winning.
Also I’m not gonna lie, but I kinda wish 5 had a PC port so I could play it and make my own opinion on it rather than just repeat what I hear on it.
I was born in 05 and I literally have zero nostalgia for Halo I might've played Halo CE when I was 14 but I don't remember even finishing the second level. I bought Halo 3 on the Xbox 360 in 2021 and then Halo MCC later on Steam, that's when I started falling in love with Halo (Reach is my favorite).
I remember being passed the massive Duke for the very first time to play this "Halo" thing that people could not stop talking about in '02.
I remember rushing home from school to play Halo 2 in '04.
I remember skipping high school classes to pick up my Halo 3 Legendary in '07.
It's strange to hear from a Halo fan who was not present to experience these huge moments and arrived when the party was already over. But it's good to hear the original games and universe hold up timelessly outside the hype of the 00s. Even if the new stewards of the franchise keep failing, they can't truly kill what made the Bungie Era so special.

I’m only a year older than you, I discovered Halo through MCC on Gamepass in 2019. I have been I diehard fan ever since. It’s so cool to hear someone who has such a similar story.
I'm 21, I played Halo when I was really young. My first Halo game was Halo 2, I fell in love with the franchise after that. I still play Halo 2 to this day, but since I'm older I appreciate Halo 2's narrative more. My favourite characters when I was young was 'The Arbiter' and 'Johnson', I liked them back then because big dinosaur and badass man, I like them now because of the previous reasons but now I like them more because back when I was young I didn't appreciate their complexity.
I've been a fan of this franchise ever since I was in the 4th grade; I'm now 30 years old. It was really enjoyable listening to you talk about your experience as a Halo fan coming from a younger generation especially. It makes me happy people are still able to get into this game, it's definitely refreshing to see. Great video man, keep it up.
This is the most down to Earth video I've seen. I'm glad I don't feel alone because of the overall low interest of Halo at the moment, but I do feel the games have potential it's just going to take some time for these new devs to cook up something for everyone. I am a 2000 kid straight up born at the start of the millennium, my first memories started watching my older brother play Halo 2 on the OG Xbox when I was 4. I played the games when I was in my teens on the 360 primarily Reach and 4 with my friends. I skipped 5 cause I went to PS4 for a time. Now in my 20s I got myself excited when the first flights for Infinite were announced played the game and tried to strick through and through the bad and the good. Currently I'm sticking between Infinite and MCC maybe picking up a book or two, but we'll just have to see where the future takes us. Take care Spartan.

'01 kid here, starting with CE while I barely had a working frontal lobe was amazing. But seeing what Halo turned into just hurts
I'm 06! I also have literally no nostalgia, but I love this franchise to my heart. I don't really remember how exactly I got into it, but it definitely was something related to Halo 2. The TV series did spark by interest back and paved the path towards learning more and more lore. HiddenXperia also did play a role in my journey of becoming a Halo fan. I started digging more deeper and learned many things from stuff that happened in 1999 in Bungie to recent ones.
For me, story is everything. That's why I love Halo 2 soo much. And for gameplay, I like the way Infinite plays.
Personality, I have high hopes for Halo Studios. ✌️

Oh man, this is such a great perspective. I really want to thank you for sharing this. I was born in 2001 and got into Halo around 2010, the time of Reach. I remember getting excited for Halo 4, and the uncontainable excitement. And then it came out, I loved it. But suddenly I saw all of these Halo veterans, who at the time I viewed as ancient lol, and they absolutely hated it. Ever since then, I've stuck to the reasons I love Halo and why I've remained in love with it through the second half of its life so far, and arguably the half that people have hated the most. Halo is a special franchise. Those who get it, get it. It'll always be my favorite game franchise and you, my friend, brought hope back into my heart. Let's all keep sharing our love for this franchise and let out joy speak louder than the hate!
I only really got into Halo properly a couple years ago when I bought the MCC, but being in my 20s I remember it being present in the background of my childhood and I used to love the odd game of Reach firefight when I was at someone else's house and they had an Xbox unlike me. I also remember the ODST ad being the single coolest advertisement in the world (still is) and thinking it was a real military ad until halfway in.
I was also born 07 and remember my dad made me start with the original halos instead of giving me the newest game at the time which was 4 and the flood scared the shit out of me as a kid to the point where I didn't continue playing it until a year later so I can heavily relate.
The point about feeling improvement and playing better than your enemy is the perfect summary of why I play it. Your kills feel earned. Your deaths, while they suck, feel like it's something you can correct. It's like a sport compared to other games.
I always think about the video “Elders React to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, where half the geriatric people manage to get kills despite not knowing how to move because they could vaguely get the enemies in their aim assist cone and delete them.
Ha. What it means to be a newer fan. Got into Halo last year, and.... Loved it. My friend go me into it, we played in storyline order, so reach first, infinite last, skipped halo 5 tho. Halo changed what games I play. I left other games. And started playing Halo. Put easy 400+ hours into all Halo Games combined. Then I was introduced to another "dying" game. Titanfall 2. Sunk another 200+ hours into that, and it made me realize, that halo did a lot. It changed what games I play (You made a point on this, and I completely agree.) It made me realize that old games are soooooooo much better than new ones. Kinda quit halo rn, just because im not really having much fun with any games. (my internet also sucks, so that may be part of the reason, at least for titanfall)
Me and you kinda had the same introduction to halo, I love infinite although many OG halo fans talk about how the 343/Halo Studios games suck I like them, I want to see Halo become what it once was. Infinite’s multiplayer is so fun I wish others could see that

I went to Seattle to watch the HCS world championship tournament and I gotta say it was the best halo thing ive ever been to ever! It was litterally where 343 announced the rebrand to Halo Studios, it was like watching an 1700s french execution!

'03 born here, probably got into Halo around late 2010 on the OG Xbox. At this point, outside of multiplayer on MCC, I mostly just engage with fan made content. For around a decade I've watched as 343 released flop after flop, thinking each one might be Halo's revival. I'm just tired. I still love what this franchise was, but I don't think it will ever reignite that thrill it once did so easily. Call me jaded, but I can't even look at anything from Infinite without cringing.

I'm an 04 kid so I guess I was just barely self-aware during Halo's golden years. While I didn't get a chance to play any of the games I remember watching videos of Halo on TH-cam and how I thought Master Chief was the coolest guy ever. I only "recently" picked up MCC on Steam in 2022 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it, but it does blow to see what the franchise has turned into nowadays.

I could see Halo resurfacing. Just the fact this video exists says something. I was introduced to Halo 3 when I was 5. Back in 2008 and it's still a game I find myself returning too. Just keep the love for the game alive since there's a lot more to the game than just what it brought. It had the world in its palm for a good decade and has inspired people to do so much. It was a simple party game that brought people together. I hope that in 2026 we can finally see a game that's meant for Halo fans and not just banking off its idea.

Got excited for infinite and had an ok time. I dont bate infinite but i just know it could be better. I love halo and i wish microsoft did too :/

A real Halo fan, even though you don’t have that nostalgia factor. Been playing since day 1 had it on PC before I even got my first Xbox. My old gamer tags I think then were (T8man and xXKillEmRickJamesXx) I miss the Bungie timeframe but alas it was a good run, unfortunately they were not happy with Microsoft at the time. From the lore, weapons, art style for the atmosphere, storytelling with connections to myths and mythology, the music oh my the music I still listen to all of Martin’s music since. And if you remember peak TH-cam animation back then it was Master Chief vs Samus by Monty Oum which I believe was the animator behind RvB and RWBY.
Hey I'm a 96 kid and wanted to add my thoughts. My great journey was much like your own. My friend introduced me to Halo 2 after school one day and I was hooked. By the time Halo 3 came out I had played HCE & H2 about 4 times each.
I became a fan on Halo's journey to to top and I've sadly seen it's decline. But I love it so much that I couldn't leave after Halo 4. Little known fact among you younger fans is that 343 made the DLC maps for the Bungie games, and they were terrible. The fanbase at the time of the handover was extremely worried as 343 had a track record of making subpar content and then blaming the fans. When Halo 4 finally released, our worst fears has come true and like always 343 ignored the fan base.
I really really wanted to like Infinite and for the most part i do. It the best 343 Halo imo, but the treatment of the fans by 343 has tarnished any good will I have for Halo. I'm hopeful that Halo Studios will revive it but in truth, I won't be playing it. You get to a certain age where you realize that Halo (& games in general) are made for you anymore, and that it's time to pass the torch.
One of the reasons why I love Halo so much because it took a lot of inspiration from alien. Yes I'm that old 😂

An '01 kid here! Yeah Halo 4 was scary. But holy cow, kid me did try at it again... But ya'know flood missions. I never got to play Halo 2 until MCC came out and used to head cannon the Long Night of Solace Mission as being the prologue to Halo 3 (not totally seriously of course but it was the closest I had okay!)
I love Halo, and I think my feelings towards Halo have been seeded with too much cynicism from the Halo boomers and I let them influence my opinions too much. I understand things are sucky for us right now, but the world has changed and we have all changed.
I missed the golden age, I played Halo 4 and Reach multiplayer.
Cynicism can be healthy, it gave me more realistic expectations for Halo Infinite. I enjoyed my time with Halo Infinite I really did but I kinda fell off because of the slow content cycle, which wouldn't had been an issue for me if it wasn't for the declining population numbers hitting Oceania the hardest. I thought Forge would had brought me back I think it still could, map design is a fun thing I have enjoyed in a few video games.
I think that the Halo community feels like Humanity after Reach. I hope Halo Studios making a remake can be our Installation 04 moment. I hope Halo Studios does a Doom 2016 with Halo, thats the thing we really need. And we need it now more than ever.

Halo infinite is an insanely good game. People complain about the game but it's open world. It's obviously going to have problems.
I also played halo 5 and I also thought it was good.
I just feel like people hate modern halo. No matter what they do.
The only problem of the open world is simply the fact that they never updated the old stuff and never added anything new, its curse is that it's stuck in 1.0 forever.
halo fans always hated on new releases. They hated Halo 2 when it released because of the Arbiter levels, Halo 3 for not having Arbiter levels, Halo Reach for having bloom, Halo 4 for being too modern etc. Happens every time. Then a few years pass, and the hated game becomes liked.
Infinite was hated for a good reason, though. It released half-finished. We never got the episodic format of campaigns. It took years for multiplayer to feel compete.
I still love and play Halo although I fell out of love with Halo 4, 5, and Infinite.
I still play Halo 3, Halo Reach, 3 ODST, and MCC.
I think a lot of us old-school Halo guys are approaching 40 at this point. Mid 30's myself.

04 kid i never really got into the halo games but i recently found my dad copy of combat evolved for the original Xbox and im praying its backwards compatible with my series X if i can get the damn disc drive to work
Halo needs to go back to feeling like Halo 3, with it's simplistic movement and low gravity, goofy physics. Halo 3 plays so differently to other FPS so it stands unique, but what Halo has been turning into is something which, yes has unique elements, but it still just blends in with all the other fast paced and colourful shooters.

it is a constant cycle with halo fans. a new game is announced, everyone gets overhyped, features are cancelled, people say "wait till it launches before you criticize it", then it releases and everyone who was overhyping it turns on it since it's the popular thing to do. it's a continuous rinse and repeat after every game

I play Halo for the amazing campaigns. Even Halo 5 has fun gameplay. I just am worried that this franchise will end with open plot points that never get resolved and a story that never finishes. Halo Infinites campaigns story was good, but it didn’t progress anything. I think more than anything we need the reason why the elites rejoined the Covenant and why the truce broke.

As someone who was 16 playing halo 2 with 10 friends on 4 brick tvs, and cords running all through a house... I lament the fact you didn't get to firsthand experience the feeling of fervor of this franchise during its peak time. I still love the franchise but 343 is an abomination of bungee. Glad to see young people go back to the old games though.

it's not dying, the player base is pretty stable, yeah it's no longer the big name from back then, thanks to the downfall that started with Reach and the 2 fuck-ups that are Halo 4 & 5 and that it took Infinite 2+ years after release to finally have everything that should have been there on day 1 didn't help either xD but currently Infinite is in good state, just dumb that they cancelled everything that was planned or in the works and nearly done for it.

I like Halo games, especially Reach. My favorite pick remains the 3rd one.
Halo Infinite is like junk food. There are objectively bad things in the game, like the campaign could've been better. But there are things you like in the game.
You can join a match in customs browser, which is good. I played it in a Toy Story map a few times. I had a fun time for a while. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a game that's bad but some things are enjoyable.
Though the game didn't obsess me personally. I stopped to play Halo Infinite for a year and I focused on other games I like, Resident Evil Revelations 1, Mouthwashing, Apex Legends or Valorant a bit.
Other than that, not bad video.

Dude, you think you're coming in late, I barely got to play the campaign a couple of years ago and still haven't touched a multiplayer because I'm saving it for my series what did I miss where I play games I missed out on.
Which unfortunately was already bloated with Battlefield due to the concerns of service being shut down and the games being removed from storefronts. And currently my schedule is full of nothing but titanfall, dead by daylight, Battlefield 2042, and Black Ops 6. Thankfully I'm done with the campaigns.
It's just difficulty tweak now. And once that's done it's still going to have to wait because Modern warfare 3 is also on the list, and I don't know how long that's going to last on the game pass. I honestly don't think it's going to stay since they haven't bothered to put more Call of duty's on the game pass. Not even the old school ones.
And that's still not including Battlefield 1 and 5 which I haven't touched yet. I'm not taking the chance that their service don't shut down anytime soon. And on top of all that, I have a second channel for no commentary playthroughs and video game preservation. Which means it's very important that I at least get one or two matches of each individual multiplayer game mode. For that reason alone, video game preservation. You can save the video game files all you want, but you can't say the server and its players. Unless you get footage of it. Then that moment in time is preserved.
I don't know if I'm going to be getting to Halo anytime soon. So I can only say one thing about the multiplayer at the very least. Please don't die. Please don't die.

Halo is never dying
Halo and Minecraft are the ONLY two games that make me feel human. Old call of duty games i sometimes play, but back to the point. I don't wanna play all these quote quotes: "Games," people don't shut up about, especially Fortnite. Hell, Fortnite is one of the very reasons i hate the internet. Dont get me wrong, Fortnite is a successful game, but i only like the OG. I love Minecraft because i feel free to choose what i want to do. Im sure some people can understand what im trying to say.

You can not tell me flying in space with an alien bomb into an alien spaceship WHILE YOU WEAR A LITERAL MILITARY SPACESUIT (I know there were other jokes I could've chosen but its my choice of the funny). My point is, in general, playing on all of these Halo games has made me feel so much. -Fearless to take on a challenge.

Mid to late 20's? Bro Halo was popular in High school when it peaked. Most of us that experiences Xbox Live H2/3 in their prime are in our mid 30's now.
The bungie halo games have an irreproducible soul to them.
Slapping new games that lack that same soul will not bring back the magic in the franchise rather we should instead appreciate what we had by keeping it alive.

Nice vid! Since halo 5 I started to develop the probably not popular opinion that halo's time has come and past. I really started to wonder if it can compete with top flight market games like fortnite/cod so on. I hope it can and hope to see it do better in the future. I'm in my mid 30s so I got to live through the so called "glory" days of halo. I do in some sense consider myself lucky for it.
