DOWNFALL
One of my favorite songs by awesome Finnish Death Metal band Children of Bodom! I'm mainly playing the synthesizer part (Janne Warman) and some bits of guitar parts.
The tune is scaled to E-minor (2 semitones upwards) to facilitate playing on the dulcimer.
For the backing track, I've used the most commonly found MIDI score as a starting point, and edited it to achieve a decent sound on my virtual instruments. unfortunately I couldn't find the original author to credit him/her.

At live shows Janne and Alexi would get into these little musical "duels" Alexi would shred something out and Janne would respond and they would sort of play off each other. It was really cool and the dulcimer along with the guitar in this cover totally reminds me of that dynamic. Its a perfect instrument for this.

There is a great melancholy in the dulcimer sound and the song is also pretty atmospheric and melody based. Both marry so well together! The bells part where everything goes silent and its just Janne playing has been replicated so well here by you that it really feels like this is the original! Please do Children of Decadence if you can. There are not many covers of that song and it will be replicated on the Dulcimer insanely well!
Thank you so much! Yes this enigmatic bells part from Warman is truly awesome. On dulcimer this part requires some gymnastics as key changes every measure (most folk instruments have limitations with changing keys, dulcimer can play every key but hand patterns become wild for some of them).
Children Of Decadence => 100% agree! I'd love to do it on dulcimer but there are a lot of key changes too and I wouldn't want to simplify the original song too much. I'll probably try after I gain confidence on more accessible songs.

Thank you! Yes strings crossing everywhere is the main challenge to begin with the instrument (and external lights can add even more confusion, because of string shadows projected on the soundboard).
Over time, you just get less and less distracted by the strings and look at the markers on the bridges instead :)

COB is awesome. So r u. Imma send this to my metal head n some music fan friends. I think you should take it a step further and not only cover more of them but in doing so u may b u can find and then create and invent your kinda genre and sound like how Alexi did with that bodom sound. Cause this is unique. And I’m pretty sure alexi would have loved to hear it and appreciate it.

That's a great suggestion, currently most of the songs I create are in a synth-folk genre, because dulcimer is a folk instrument and I have a strong connexion with keyboards. But what you say resonates and I feel I could try writing some of my own heavy metal tracks with dulcimer. Thank you for the advice and take care!

COB rules! Great cover! What model/brand is your Hammered Dulcimer? Looks very nice but I think I haven't seen one of this kind before.

My dulcimer is a British Roger Frood Dove (same maker as Dizzi early videos), but it is a late model from Roger Frood just before he retired, with addition of chromatic bridges on the left side. Besides, I recently had foot dampers added by French maker Claude Bertrand, so it is now a kind of composite design :)
