Who pays for the haul away?
I've had hoarder tendencies in my own life. I started watching Hoarders while on leave for COVID last year and cleaned up everything because I found it so horrifying in my own life. It took 6 months, on my own, to get rid of 90% of what I had dragged around with me. In addition I quit my job at Goodwill because that was also a problem, as you can imagine. I'm so relieved and happy. I love the space that I have and the open rooms. I am able to really appreciate the things I chose to keep and my husband is thrilled. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. This episode is SO TELLING THAT this woman declined to take aftercare funds to help her. That is what's sad because she will very likely continue to have a problem collecting things over and over again.

I always say, instead of looking at it as losing your stuff, look at it as gaining space. Congratulations!! You had the ability to realize that your place of employment was agravating the problem. I have a friend who goes to the 1/2 off sales at Goodwill every Friday. She thinks that she is saving $ but I rarely see her wearing the same thing twice and she is what I would call a "baby hoarder" (the beginning stages of dysfunctionality).
Another problem is when people inherit the hoard and they don't want to part with what they have been left by their loved ones. I can relate to that. Shopping addiction often goes hand in hand with hoarding. (like my sister)
Don't get me wrong. Goodwill is wonderful and I love the idea of saving money & recycling--great for the enviroment. It just has to be kept in check. I only go if I am looking for something very specific.

well in a hoarder sick mind, she thinks those cars are worth millions. Old, Rusted, smelly, broken, undriveable, unsafe cars. One day the state will fine her, clear it all up, and he have to pay for that party instead.
On a series full of disturbed people, Cindy really stands out. No threat of legal disaster seemed to affect her, even if it was substantially aimed at her own son. It was an entirely horrifying thing to watch.
Cindy recites all of the junk she has with a big smile on her face like her hoarding was something to be proud of
I noticed that. To me it indicates emotional disconnect.
That’s her way of dealing with the disasters that have happened in her life…She shouldn’t be judged because she isn’t showing her pain in a way that others want to watch. Crying, seeking sympathy and pity etc

This episode was very frustrating. Like she could have gotten rid of so much stuff for a really good price.
I've seen every episode and this was probably the most frustrating. She was unwilling to let go of a single thing (her son did a lot better) and all the talk of selling it later was just an excuse to hold onto everything.
Her disorder runs deep, don't see the son ever getting his property back. Dr. Zasio and Matt did their best but she was completely indifferent to them the whole time.

the ONE thing Cindy doesnt have is a makeup brush to blend her eyeshadow.
She probably has tons of makeup brushes, but can't find them since she's a hoarder. I actually notice that a lot of hoarder women do not blend their makeup. The lady in the Julian Price home episode also didn't blend her eyeshadow

I think they need to put the person into counselling before they start clearing. This woman clearly has a problem she doesn't acknowlege nor have any interest in solving. As soon as they leave she'll go back to hoarding.
You can't force them to get help. If they don't want it, then they won't turn up.

I noticed as Cindy was describing her outdoor hoard her smile kept getting wider, especially when she said “you name it, I’ve got it.” All I could think of was “why Cindy?”
She was given a price and instantly believed she could get more.
I wish there would be follow ups, especially on the unfinished ones. I understand that a lot of people worked a lot and got rid of a lot, but it´s so unsatisfying to see ends like this one.

I’m really glad they are making new episodes again. I know it must be hard having his televised but I know the effort they put into this transforms people’s complete lives, even if it’s not perfect. If I had a family member in this situation I don’t know what I would do. They definitely are especially now taking the hardest cases but especially in the era of when everyone is home, I hope the 300+ families they have helped in the past are doing better now

I watched about 5 of these videos today. I recently moved, so I am totally unorganized. After the videos i have made great progress unpacking my stuff today. 💜
The thing is, she will never sell any thing. Ever. She hoarded a property that doesn't even belong to her. The city will likely condemn the property in about 5 years. The son needs to put his foot down and get his property back, take her to court, evict her.

Yep. That is why I left my ex-husband 16 years ago. He has lived in a different cabin for the last 14 years, with 2 beautiful acres of land, pine trees, and even a little stream. Looks just like this now.

I work at a group home and the apartment that I work in had an old metal hospital bed that had been abandoned to the balcony. 300 lbs, at least. It sat out there for ages. All the ppl who work/live there were so tired of it.
Finally, one day my co-workers and I pulled it apart and rolled it down to the garbage area. This was after us asking the mngt. to remove it for a very long time. That same day a scrapper grabbed it. I looked it up...appx 75cents per lb for steel !!

This was one amazing episode. I think she’s the biggest hoarder they’ve found. And she has a LOT of enablers. I don’t envy her family and friends who will have to go through all that someday. She’s so deep in her illness... I don’t think there’s any hope for her.
They’re not enabling her. Some of them just chose to not bash her publicly for their amusement and the viewers amusement. I imagine she’s a really good person and has suffered an awful lot from a very young age and they know it because even her son said during the episode “I don’t want to be another bad guy in her life” and Matt the specialist said “I really like her. I like her ALOT” which indicates she is most likely a really good person that has had a bad life

cindy is buck shot moon crazy. resistant to any suggestions. not blessed with the sense god gave an ant. she really didn't benefit from this intervention at all, IMO because as the trucks were rolling away she was over to the side line plucking stuff from the garbage heap. sometimes people are so dead set on being crazy, there's just no hope. she will eventually lose the land. it's inevitable but when it does happen she will blame anyone in her sight. It's never the fault of the hoarder, it's always some other person's problem.

I think she purposely put the property in her son's name while he was a minor. She must have been in debt and didn't want her creditors to know that she owned property.

I love this show. I watch it so that I don't become a hoarder. I clear my closets out! Papers out! I refuse to have my family go through this with me or after I'm gone from this earth. I just can't ....
these kind of episodes are the most frustrating to watch. Not only did she have help to get rid of all her stuff, but she was offered money for her stuff. But she still wouldn't let it go. I understand sometimes if you break things down and sell them one at a time you could ultimately make more money but in her case, the time and effort that would be put into that isn't worth it, and by the time you're a hoarder like that, you're not going to get around to doing it yourself. It is so sad how she continues to be in a big mess
Exactly, if she was going to sell things one by one she would have done it already, and If she could have done that she wouldn’t be a hoarder. The cycle is vicious. I hope at some point her family convinces her to take the offers and she gets psychological help to understand she has too much stuff to deal with on her own.
I truly have a place in my heart for hoarders and feel for them and their mental Illness, but in this case I had less sympathy because the land is not even hers and she ruined it and won’t help to fix it for her son. I know addicts are like this, but this case is harder for me to feel any empathy for her.

You may have missed the episode where I believe Corey offered a Hoarder more money then a box of stuff she had was worth, and she turned him down.
People don't realize that all those vehicles and lawnmowers drip gas oil and rust into the ground,which in turn seeps in ground water,which pollutes creeks and then flows into rivers.

Just watched more. She needed a different team. This is a mental illness people! A person doesn't just wake up one day and say hummm I want to live in a dump. Nor do they wake up after this fight and say hummm let's just throw it all away it has no value to me ( value in a means of emotional connection) my heart goes out to you and I pray you found a good Dr to help you through this!
The amount of people that have attacked her and displaying hate for her is harder to watch than the episode itself. So many people that willfully chose to Ignore the fact that she had a baby YOUNG, was married YOUNG, and was a widow YOUNG, then widowed again not long after😢 then you can see one of her sisters that was interviewed on the show was CLEARLY amused at her painful situation. She said “We want her to know nobody’s laughing at her” with a SMILE on her face🤦🏽♂️ you can tell she’s had to deal with a lot of hatred and jealousy from other women because of her looks, her confidence, her intelligence, her strength, her personality, her money she’s had, and the love she’s had from husbands and her son.
I'm bit of a hoarder myself when it comes to clothes because i see potential resale value in everything yet i don't really take time to actually photograph everything and sell it. I do organize clothes and don't have piles but still kind of stresses me to think just how many of stuff i have and need to photograph

So, she was a "secret hoarder" with 23 + credit cards !

One thing if clearing a hoarders stuffs... u dont bring them along, they would see their stuffs and gets all sentimental about it.... but if u clear em without them knowing, they wont even care what has been thrown away, they wont even remember the small single stuffs they collected
Which is why they are there. If they aren't there's a very good chance they will rehoard.

She is my family, and you have been misinformed , her son bought all those cars with her money, over $150,000 while she paid all of his bills, and he is driving the best 3 cars, also a lot of those things out there are his and the county was already on him for it.
