Wait a smart dumb phone, isn't that a contradiction? In this epic tale, Scott tries to speak to an audience of tens, if not hundreds of people about technology. The idea of talking about technology while he wants people to actively avoids it is not lost on him. Building a channel on telling people to delete the very app they are viewing him on is not exactly a smart plan. For every success he has in convincing a viewer to subscribe, he hopes they delete the app, rendering their subscription meaningless, but giving more power to his message. Thus allowing him to sleep at night.

Haha. Exactly. I never switched to a smartphone. My favourite feature: my battery lasts me two weeks without charging!

Tech tip: Change that battery NOW. It's a fire hazard waiting to happen and the fact that it's discharging so rapidly shows how dead that battery is.
Interesting indeed. I’ve had a mobile phone since the late 1980’s. It was a bag phone I used in my car. My carrier at the time was the Bethel & Mt. Etna Telephone and Telegraph Co. Currently I’m using a simple flip phone. Really that is all I need. I’ve never had a smartphone. Why folks feel they must be connected to the internet 24/7 wonders me some. Stop and smell the roses, you’ll be glad you did. Cheers!
I want to buy a old iPhone as a dumb phone for when I go back to college as I feel like I’m on my regular phone too much during classes, I’m aware you can put on a limit on your apps but I just know for a fact that I’ll find a way to remove it during the day.

Got myself a 1st gen iPhone SE. Battery life might be sucked but still does the job and smaller screen makes it less addicting.
Also, Apple still support these phones that are stuck on iOS 15 with monthly security updates.

Couple questions: can you block numbers on the light phone? Also, is there a light to switch on for using in the dark, like my e-reader has? Oh and does it vibrate?
funny seeing these kinds of videos from a guy who couldn't even go a week through without switching back. it's like taking relationship advice from a guy who has never had a girlfriend in his life, which kind of makes sense because he hits the big key points but misses out on all the details... the light phone 2 is the more expensive option? the only one? what about the punk MP-02? modern day japanese keitais?
I would love a dumb phone with ONLY, calling, texting, a camera, gps and email. Do you have any recommendations?

the light phone 2 is looking pretty good to me.I don't have a cell phone, never really needed one. I do all internet related things on my computer and just want a phone for texting and talking.
Having a smart phone is the best thing that could happen in today’s society. It has to do with using it as a tool. And the way that people act is not cause of the smart phone. The way you talk and walk dossn’t have anything to do with a smart phone. I heard one comment on one video and someone said that you can tell the difference between someone that uses a smart phone and one that uses a dumb phone. They we’re saying that the person that uses a dumb phone is more calm. That is not true at all. People that use phones are going to bee the same. Whether you use a dumb or smart phone. You don’t act differently cause of the phone you use.

I’m going to start college soon. And, I would like to be locked in, with my studies. It would be best for me to use a dumb phone. Since I have a really bad phone addiction. 😅

I've been a service provider since 1980. I've answered tens of thousands of phone calls. To me, the phone is the crack of the whip, I absolutely hate it. Online booking has been a miracle. But I want to be able to text not on a goddamn number board. So thanks... Perhaps I'll get an old "shmart" phone and call it dumb.
Tbh the only reason i use a smartphone is because of the camera. I want a good camera and I dont feel like carry a big bulky camera around everywhere i go (even tough I do sometimes when i go for trips only taking pictures) Ofc i also browse youtube n stuff but if i could not do that it would be fine tbh. Camera is the number 1 biggest thing for me. I will be trying out a dumb phone with point and shoot in the future. But I’ve gotten quite spoiled with my camera always on me, and a camera that looks quite good

Yes I loved my iphone 6s (4.7" display) and was never addicted to it. Then I upgraded to an iphone 13 :( then an iphone 13 mini :(. I love the battery life of these two but hate the addiction. The iphone SE 2023 (4.5" display) seems to have a good battery life and looks exactly like the 6s/7. I wonder if it's the best "dumb phone". I'd like to stay in the Apple ecosystem. But have purchased a Cubot Pocket (4" display) and trying to see if it will work to use the Uber app. I'm thinking a 4" display will be no fun scrolling, and worst case being android I can disable the browser and app store.
I hate when people say that is a new trend, like haven't dealers/criminals been using it, as a sort of cheap/ditch/leave anywhere phone aka a burner phone
I would say it’s a new trend for people trying to be more intentional with their phone usage. The trend is one of positivity not dealing drugs

Ive got an old iphone 7 with a dead battery. Apple told me they will fit a new battery for £75. 🇬🇧
Yeah, they're just glued in and connection might be tricky. Open case, heat/use solvent to un-glue.
What about the LP2 and a tiny compact camera?
I have grown so accustomed to having a camera around me at all times without having to think about it, I personally do not think I would be able to consistently carry a camera around that wasn't a phone. It is something I have considered, but when I am laying on the floor or I am mowing the lawn, I know I would never carry that camera with me out there.

Why would people ever want to go back to the past anyways. We’ll were that way at one time. Using a smart phone is not an addiction. That is what a lot of people don’t get. You can’t compare an alcoholic to a smart phone user. That doesn’t make sense. Smart phones are here to stay. They are here cause people realized that their was a ton of crap they needed to carry and the smart phone is making things easier than having to carry bulky things. Why are you going to bee so inconvenient and carry something that was of the past, and truly, society doesn’t run on old cell phones anymore. You can’t bring back those times. You can live in the moment with a smart phone. Their are apps to help you breath a little and relax if you need but using a smart phone is not like using drugs. I am sorry. That is a bunch of crap. And society is running on tech that is what we are about. I would never think about downgrading to a dumb phone. That would bee stupid and it doesn’t prove anything but you want to bee a big inconveniences to everyone and yourself. Going to the bank, going to the store, all this takes a smart phone now days. Smart phones have taken a daily task and made it easier. Want a pic of your family take the phone out and take a pick. Want to check your emails on the go take care of it. Want to do your banking on line but you are away form the computer you can do that to. Even people a lot of the time now don’t even use their computer. They use their phone to do the tasks that a computer can do. And smart phones these days are much better than a lot of desk tops and computers. Everything is mobile these days and we can’t relive the past. Even though might have Ben fun back then it was a struggle. So much crap to carry with you if you have to go out. Now it is just one phone that does everything. I can say not having a smart phone is a huge headache. Having a smart phone is taking that headache away and is so much more minimalistic. Not a dumb phone. That is not being minimal. If you look at it you have to print out things if needed and so much stuff you dont’ need to do these days. Going to the post office today requires a Q.R. Code and you just read that with the phone. If you go and have a dumb phone you have to inconveniently print and waists paper and go to the desk at the post office and see if they can pick out the printed format of the little code when you could have just saved time and used the phone. So not having a smart phone these days is so inconvenient. If you have to travel somewhere and you have a smart phone it is gonna get you where you need to go. If you are hiking you take a pick with your phone. So to say that smart phones are ruining people’s enjoyment of life is total crap. It doesn’t make any sense.
