    Cody nailed it in the final seconds of this video. "The best camera is the one you can afford to replace." Last Summer I was shooting on an R5 with the 85mm F1.2 and it stayed in my camera bag for most adventures because I was terrified I would drop it, scratch it, break it. LOL

      Or just be willing to lose it and 'have' to replace it. I've taken my 5d mark IV, which I know, I know, it's a cheap camera now, but 5 years ago wasn't, out on the buffalo river many times to take pictures. I put it in a zip loc baggy, then when I felt the canoe and environment were reasonably safe, I took that baby out and got some great shots. Taken it hiking many times in places I could have fallen hard. That's always been a pet peeve of mine though. People buying stuff and not using it. If you have a pickup truck and the bed has not a single scratch on it, you should have bought a car my friend.

      I traded that into mpb and got a d5300 and a Sigma 50mm Art for about 300 dollar difference when i was 16, and then i sold that body and lens and got the Sony when i was 18.

    How cool would it be if Canon would give us dual sensor tech? One body 2 sensors. One high meg sensor for studio, flexibility with printing, cropping power, post processing power etc and one low meg sensor for low light capabilities that are superior to high megs. Maybe call it the R2 for dual sensors IDK just an idea. Imagine not having to carry multiple bodies, and then pair it with the new 24-105 2.8! Ultimate setup in my opinion. Canon could use less materials but charge more money all while making less of a carbon footprint on the environment. Canon wins, professionals win, the environment wins, it's a win across the board. Nikon and Sony and any other camera user that dont use Canon would lose sleep at night because they know deep down the switch is going to happen , just kidding , ....but really though. It's magic... All these camera releases and it just reminds how well Panasonic designed their cameras - The mic port is up high out the way of the flip screen. The batteries are great. With the PDAF, christ, it's going to be such a good future 🫶 As you say, it's hard to go wrong these days, just get out there and shoot. Still, that cripple hammer 🤣

    "The best camera is one you can afford to replace" ... Literally the most true statement I have heard about how I operate... I have a R6 which is used for photography being my income and I refuse to do video with it on my YT channel as I don't want to have to buy another if it gets damaged, so I use a gopro. But this R8 may so be replacing the gopro,just might!!

    Save $100 and go for the EOS R. It has higher resolution, better battery, a cover for the sensor, and more. Still don't know why they bothered making this camera. What are the benefits over existing bodies like the R and RP?

  • @peter.nicholson

    Completely agree - The R8 could serve as a great backup (compact & light) to support eg, the R5 when on location...

    Peter said it replaces the original R, but actually it replaces the RP. The size, form, battery and price put it in the RP territory. However it could replace an R if you wanted better video and updated AF.

    • @v_r_

    If this had came out back in the day I probably would have grabbed it over my R6. That being said this would make a great little backup. I feel like the RP and the R did a fusion dance and went super saiyan and that’s the R8 😂

    Definitely getting a PRO-sumer taste of professional camera vibe. Seems like an awesome piece of gear to get some amazing shots. Very good starting point for the curiously serious photographer. If i could afford it and switch systems Id give it a go. I am still debating an RP.

      I have an RP and love it. You can usually find it on amazon for ~$1000, and the body style and specs appear to be very similar to the R8. Personally would recommend going with an RP and using the saved cash to invest in a good lens. That will generally result in a better bang for your buck in my experience

    • @Br8kz
      @Br8kz ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm currently about to get my first full frame camera and I was having the same debate except that was before the R8 was announced. It was whether to get R or RP but with nearly all the features of the R6Mii inside a RP body I find it hard to not want the R8 over the RP or the R. I have friends who have the R6/RP and R so I've been fortunate enough to test them all out and there's a noticeable difference for me between the RP and the R6 so I've been wanting something closer to the R6 but without the crazy price and I feel like this hits right in the sweet spot.
