I always think it’s funny and cute how people from different countries see the fountain pen as something special. In Germany kids have to use these to write in school, only in the higher classes you are allowed to use ballpoint pens. Hope you find this info interesting. Love you all ❤

keeping one book for everything (including merch ideas) is sooo liberating, for some reason the best ideas come from little silly doodles that I never expected could be turned into anything else! loved the tour 🥰

I love this video and it makes me so happy to see another Fountain Pen artist! I draw with mine all the time. I let my obsessive nature get me in deep, but if you want another good low-end brand, TWSBI ecos are amazing and have such big ink areas. Both their medium and broad nibs will give you that big juicy shading thing you want.

fountain pens were one of my hyperfixations a few years ago and i HIGHLY recommend the MUJI fountain pen. super simple, super cheap and its my favorite pen for drawing

(yes I'm commenting in real time as I watch) but I would love to know if your Kakuno pen's ink just magically evaporates over time.. I've had a pink one and every time I refill it and use it once, the next time I go back it just doesn't have ink in it??
Omg why did I just see this!!!! So I gave mine to my mom so I don’t rly know, BUT I think that is a common fountain pen problem… maybe urs has some kind of opening where the ink dries out???

Love my Lami safari pen with converter and I use a waterproof black ink with it.
I was typing this while watching and you mentioned nibs !!! If you like the Lamy Safari pen - try changing the nib to the Lamy Calligraphy nib (specially the 1.9mm one).The urban sketching community here swears by it!
Usually special inks like the one you used (it's such a beautiful ink!!) or shimmers will shine more if you bigger nibs too so the green might show up more on a broad nib.

Watched this on my first day in Tokyo. Was worried what to do as I’m here for a month. This has completely inspired me to delve into myself and be more creative even tho I’m not an artist I do cute doodles whenever I have a pen in my hand. yessss fountain pen!! I've had mine for almost 6 years, it got me through a big chunk of university and I love drawing with it (it's a faber castell - could'nt find the exact same one on the website but I think the equivalent would be the Ambition OpArt, expensive but totally worth it for my use!). I use basic fountain pen inks but now you make me want to try new ones 👀

@@MeganWangart I use Parker Quink! I get them in little glass bottles too. Mostly black, but I also have a dark blue one that is soo pretty (I love doodling/drawing with dark colors, but I think they have lighter colors as you said you didn't like that much drawing in black)

As a fountain pens enjoyer I'm so happy that many artist started to use fountain pens to create art. I personally prefer dip pen over fountain pens when drawing tho.
Maybe the nib on your Kakuno is too fine so it's created some feedback when contact to paper. You feel Lamy has more control because the tipping part on its nib bigger and smoother than Kakuno. You can try Preppy/Plaisir/Prefonte by Platinum, their 0.3 nib very smooth but I can say cleaning ink kinda a pain 😂

i got my first fountain pen with a converter beginning of jan paired with my first hobonichi and it brings me so much dang joy ;-; i LOVE pens and write n' draw alot so it's rly cool to have a pen with infinite(?) I've also purchased from jet pens!!! But I do recommend going in person to a stationery store if you have one near you.. and if you're unsure of what you like I'm glad I purchased some off of amazon so that I was able to return the ones that I really didn't enjoy ~

I hate fountain pens! Here in my school in germany we were forced to write with these. Only with these. Although I get why they are nice to draw with haha but I just can't get over my hate for these ugh
