  • Needed a short term fix for my Dust collection short coming.
So decided to hack a Leaf Blower into a Thein Cyclone style dust collector. Here is how I did it.

Brilliant idea! And so quiet! I had to turn the volume up to hear the motor running on the leaf blower! LOL

is it quiet or the vid. volume was reduced? I am pretty sure I heard the volume go down before the thing was turned on.

I had thought about this couple of months ago. Thing was lying in the shed doing very little 11 months of the year. Will let you know how I get on if I decide to build my own version.

Good one. I made one too recently with a leaf blower. Wish I had come across your video earlier to save me time wasted on searching for a compatible vacuum cleaner

Out of curiosity how is the leaf blower bag for finer dust collection?

If the women don't find you handsome, at least they should find you handy. Of course being both is even better.

Cy, my shop vac just bit the dust and I was eyeballing my Black & Decker LeafHog for this very purpose! Thank you for the video, now I know exactly what to do.

Found one of these sitting in my shed that hasn't been used for years since I got my cordless leaf blower. Going to use your info to make it useful again.

I've been planning to hide the blower in the cabinet of my table saw ... found this vid while searching for any noise results/comments. I think the blower is much noisier than any tool in my garage. Any comments / impressions?

I have long since upgraded to a much larger collection unit. It is located in the closet under the shop stairs. Cuts the noise down tremendously. And the 2hp blower is substantially louder than the leaf lower version. If you can locate it in an enclosure I highly recommend it.

@@DIYwithUncleCy thank you for your reply. yeah, I am thinking that TS cabinet has sturdy steel walls and enough room for the leaf blower. And the exhaust can be taken outside the garage in my climate (nor. cal) there is hardly a time when I have to keep it closed.

Master craftsman, what takes you an afternoon would take me 10 years and innumerable trips to Home Depot. But I loved the video, thanks! I watched this after spending several weeks configuring a shop vac for both outdoor carpet and garage floor cleaning...fine dust, leaves, dog hair, and thousands of pebbles...for a 2 building condo complex. Think I'll stick with the shop vac.

Great minds think alike.... but hope if your still using it... that you added an finer grade filter, than just that leaf bag, that was never intended for indoor use..

Great innovation. Looking at your video is the second hose closed? Just wondering how it would go with both hoses open such as a table saw with bottom and overarm blade collection. Cheers

Hi there, what condition is the motor in now ? also I am wondering if there is more stuff going into the bag or into the barrel. I assume it is better that more goes into the barrel, right? thanks, i am hoping to make something soon

About the table saw, looks very similar to Matius Wandel's first one, he's got a video about boxing it in.
