@@laurastuhler4791 Lol to yourself 👌 Jimi was a baritone. That's why he often had to use falsetto - Especially when singing some of the Dave Bickler era songs. Jimi had that very wide and thick sound because of his baritone voice, having more surface area on his vocal folds. That meant he had to work harder to reach the high notes that came more naturally to Bickler. The same pitch still sounded "darker" for Jimi, which is another baritone trait. People often compare Jimi to Steve Perry, the most famous tenor. You can clearly hear the difference though, in that Perry was more natural in the upper register, making jumps up and down the octaves. Jimi prefered to keep it a step lower, to properly take advantage of his wider vocal folds. Listen to "The Search Is Over" and you'll hear it. Baritone through and through
Just saw Jamison attempt this song in 1982, when he first replaced Bickle, and the high notes were a travesty. He's got a great voice and he// really trained it into that range to do this song cleanly and powerfully 3 years later. Excellent work - credit where it's due!
I can't even imagine being this brilliant but I'm so happy for their success and incredibly grateful to the almighty that such a song exists. A wonderful contrast to the darkness in he world. So many people were, are and will be helped by this simple but profound masterpiece.
I love this video. It really shows Jimi Jamison's vocal capabilities and the band's tightness at the time. They looked great, sounded great and put on a great performance. Thank you to the person who posted this. Jimi is truly a lost talent and my Prayers are that he is in a better place.

Tower of Power My friend, I'm sorry I could not read your comment but music is universal, and I hope you enjoyed this video as much as I did. Both Jimi Jamison and Dave Bickler were exceptional vocalists and truthfully, Bickler probably sings this song a little better because he was the actual vocalist when they made the song in the studio. That being said, Jamison was a phenomenal vocalist as well as really brought Survivor to the public eye with their string of hits they had after he joined. Thanks again for posting to my comment.

オイラは中学3年生の時に流行りました。毎日ラジオで聴いておりました。当時の感動を忘れられません。
First time I hear it live.
Amazing.
I Love This Group so Much Jimi sounds Amazing.... I Love You Survivor I’ve followed you since 1982 nothing will ever change ❤️
Jimi being a baritone, he still comes in and actually tops the original - Which was written for a tenor voice! That is raw talent 🙏
@Ice Bear he is bruh
Jimi was a TENOR, definitely not a baritone, lol.
@@laurastuhler4791 Lol to yourself 👌
Jimi was a baritone. Baritone through and through
@@laurastuhler4791 yes he was. Freddy mercury as a good example was also a baritone who sang in tenor
@@laurastuhler4791 he is a baritone bruh
Wow this live version is fantastic!!!
Amazing, yesterday, today & forever!
One of the best rock songs and radio songs. Ever. Big respect.
Just saw Jamison attempt this song in 1982, when he first replaced Bickle, and the high notes were a travesty. He's got a great voice and he// really trained it into that range to do this song cleanly and powerfully 3 years later. Excellent work - credit where it's due!
A true and timeless classic, it was the soundtrack to so many people's lifes. Rip Jami Jamison.
One of the best live performances of this song!
Jami Jamison had the powerfull voice on 80's rock era... RiP jami... ♥
I can't even imagine being this brilliant but I'm so happy for their success and incredibly grateful to the almighty that such a song exists. A wonderful contrast to the darkness in he world. So many people were, are and will be helped by this simple but profound masterpiece.
God Bless you Jimi,,,,, our hearts go out to all your family at this sad time, you'll be sorely missed.
RIP Jimi........what a class act, a true professional !
Amazing performance!!
His voice is amazing 🤩
This live performance is even better than the studio recorded version, and the studio recorded version was already great.
What a sick voice! I never knew he was this great
Amazing film capturing what we would not be able to see otherwise. What a lineup....Droubay, Ellis, Sullivan, Peterik, Jamison.
Holy Hell that version sounds better than the recorded version....rest easy Jimi
Melhor vocal !!! Melhor versão ! Jimi jamisom grande perda ! Saudades!
Te recordaremos por siempre Jimi. Hoy 1 de Septiembre del 2017, a 3 años de tu partida seguimos escuchando tu voz....
wow! How the hell this is a live performance? AMAZING SOUND AND VOICE!!
I listen to it every day, best version ever
Thats what you call a set of pipes! Music these days just cannot compare.
Jimi jamisom rip espectacular
Terrific version, studio quality performance and an excellent live production recording
The rock singers in the 80s could actually sing.
@Dan King Not that I recall....
Jimi Jamison & Survivor was a band to be reckoned with!!! They could hold their own with any of the bands of the day...
@Dan King A lot more in the 1990's though😂
then autotune arrived :-(
100%. They were used to the live shows more and could actually sing not like today’s “artists” that do one gig a year
WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU JIMI!!!
Jimi Smashed it and blew Bicklers version away
His voice is amazing!
THANKS for all the great memories your music has been a part of in my life Survivor.
I can’t put a price on those amazing thoughts of the past!
What a voice! ❤️
My deepest and sincerest condolences!! My heart just broke. Rest in Peace Jimi!! ♥
**bows** Rest in Peace, Jimi. My condolences to the band. I grieve with you.
Singers from 80´s didn´t need autotune beause their voice were real
Survivor are just bloody brilliant
I love this video. It really shows Jimi Jamison's vocal capabilities and the band's tightness at the time. They looked great, sounded great and put on a great performance. Thank you to the person who posted this. Jimi is truly a lost talent and my Prayers are that he is in a better place.
MrMike9158 originálne pieseň naspieval Dave Bickler ex band Jamestown Massacre pôvodný spevák skupiny Survivor, hit č.1 v roku 1982 v USA ,šesť týždňov ocenený RIAA dvomi platinovými platňami, celosvetový predaj 9 milionov kopii, Jimmi Jamison spevákom od roku 1984 zomrel 31. augusta 2014 vo veku 63 rokov na mozgovú mrtvicu.
Tower of Power Even though I can not understand your text, I sense that you are a fellow lover of good rock music and also a good person. I hope and Pray you are more educated than I and can understand my replies. You obviously come from a completely different part of the world from me as I am in the United States, but that it is the miracle of music. It brings us all together no matter who we are or where we are at. Take care of yourself my friend and I hope to hear from you again. Just seeing your posts lets me know we have hope in this world.
I grew up in Memphis where Jimi Jamison is from I have been watching Jimi sing in bands since 1971 he was always awesome and I got to know him he was a really nice guy the fame never went to his head.

What a voice... i been a fan since day one, the way he sounds live is like the studio version , amazing and spectacular. Sadly he is no longer around and we will never hear or see him perform again. Rip idol, youre sorely missed.
Brilliant version of the song, might be the best! Also, no-one cares what year you’re watching/listening in! It’s a timeless song that will hopefully never be forgotten.
