Got the sanders working hoping it would not slip if the engine slipped the train would have come to a standstill doubtful the train would not have moved without assistance, The Driver was effectively nursing the Train trying to avoid Wheel slip.
Was waiting for the old gal to lose her feet, but she did them proud. are the injectors diesel engine in the generator brake buggered? it wasn't half smoking. at first I thought it was a diesel loco working hard from the back giving banking assistance.
Now I may be well wrong on this as I am absolutely clueless when it comes to this stuff. I think, only think I hasten to add, that a diesel engine is in there to provide electric heat in the carriages. Anybody know better?
@@transportinterests5371 Yes they used a generator for the electric heating. Today they prefer a locomotive so it can assist the steam locomotive when needed and if they had done that this time for sure we would not of seen the 5 working this hard
If a single loco type symbolises 'workaday british steam' it is the black 5. We are so lucky that so many have survived into preservation.
God! Its like the old video, Pennine Steam in the 60s! Wow great to see
Priceless location footage and my favourite Black Five 45407!
Your only saying that cos it’s all true!😜👍😂
Sounds almost human! Well done old girl.
I missed seeing this fantastic sight, they will never do this again with no box on the back to give a good shove.
Where are the bankers of old out of Low Moor Shed?

Awesome lighting conditions too!

This is just another example of the saying STEAM NEVER QUITS
Good on the Black 5 but I've never seen smoke rising from a carriage like that at the tail ... what's that about? 😳
