Thank you, Brodie for your excellent work on the A's. As a Texas Rangers fan, who has lived in the Metroplex for 39 years, I have learned so much about Oakland and the passion of the fans and the history of this great ballclub. Best wishes to you and your colleagues.

I've lived in the Bay Area and the Bay Area just to the south my whole life. Never an A's fan, always a Giants fan, and if you wanted to see passion, then you should have been at Game 2 of the 2012 WS. I'm 69, been to many a 49er game, at Kezar, Giants games at Candlestick before it was enclosed, 49er games at Candlestick after it was rebuilt for the 49ers and Giants, and I never, ever saw a team get support from fans like I did during that 2-0 win over the Tigers.

It sort of echoes the 1979 team that lost 108 games. . I went to many of those games back then as well, I was a senior in high school and I got to know players on a first name basis. .
Dave Revering, Jim Essian, Rickey Henderson, Jeff Newman, Mitchell Page. .To me the team wasn't as bad as the record showed. . But I've felt and, us fans knew back then that the Owner Charles O' Finley pretty much abandoned the team and it's fans. It's strange to me to have that same feeling as an older gentleman. I feel more contempt for John Fisher than I do Charles Finley. Finley it seemed, realized that being a baseball owner wasn't for him. Granted he tried to elevate the game's appeal through various stunts and promotions. But Fisher's complacency hurts deeper. Finley gave us a winner, through his ruthlessness. Fisher is driven more by greed than turning a team into a winner. It's been sad to witness the crumbling of Oakland Athletics.. I agree with Brodie 100 percent. . .

That was hard to watch. I am a year younger than you and remember that season well. Manny Sanguillen, Dave Chalk to name few more.
At least they got interesting with Mitchell Page, Wayne Gross, Dwayne Murphy, Ricky, Tony Armas, “Peaches”, Brian Kingman, Steve McCatty, Matt Keough, Mike Norris.
They almost went to Denver/Marvin Davis.
This move is going to kill me.

      @gregusjay 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@rainbowmade1880 yes poor Matt Keough couldn't buy a win ..very tough luck pitcher..wouldn't sign my team ball during that year, ..but during 1981 strike season a lot of the A's came to work out with us at Cal State Hayward ..Keough remembered me and gave me one of his gloves at that camp, Steve McCatty, Rick Langford, Brian Kingman they all redeemed themselves thanks to Billy Martin and pitching coach Art Fowler ...great memories !

I was at the last game of the season in 1979. The A’s won a walk off on a bases loaded walk by Steve Trout of the White Sox. Man was it empty. Highlight of the season😢. Surreal after watching 5 Western division pennants and 3 World Series wins.
I drive within view of the Coliseum most days every week. Really hard to look at the stadium. I refuse to go to any games or watch on TV. I don’t watch baseball period. My favorite sport……
Thanks Fisher and Manfred. I friggin hate you.

A rough season for all the A's fans on and off the field. I have been following all the news this season and so grateful for your honest opinions amd insight into this potential move to Las Vegas. I am a Dbacks fan in the UK, and don't get over to watch many games (I've been to 5 MLB games in total since 2016, whenever my vacations coincide with a game).
I will be visiting San Francisco for 10 days next June and am dead set on attending an A's game to support all you A's fans and the City of Oakland no matter what the future may hold.....I am with you 100%

At the start of the season, I had a feeling the A's were not playoff bound, but did not expect them to be worse than the '22 A's. I thought they would have 65 wins atleast because of the additions and the hype they were receiving. Plus the Vegas situation took most of the attention. People lost interest in the upcoming stars and were driven away by the relocation news. It's sad

A LOT of this is on the City of Oakland. This city has been dealing with the A's stadium question ever since Jerry Brown was the mayor. And all these years later, nothing has been done. I could have told you that Howard Terminal was a pipe dream. Now...the A's want out of Oakland. MLB wants out of Oakland. The Raiders and Warriors wanted out of Oakland...and got out. Hell....many of the people who live in Oakland want out. There is a lot that's wrong with this city and its leadership and I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

Raiders don't look like they'll get much. Gonna take a big rebound from the Sharks to salvage my 2023 sports fandom. And my sanity. haha

If Major leagues blue ribbon panel was as productive during the A’s stadium search in the bay in 2009 as they’ve bee disruptive this year the A’s would have had a new stadium in Oakland. How does baseball reward an owner that 1) pockets revenue sharing which cutting payroll 2) tried to cut pay of the minor leaguers 3) cut payroll of stadium clerks. The A’s ownership has divested fromthe organization, city, and fans and its been painful to be mocked by the national syndicates and blame. Oakland absolutely could’ve done more earlier but as it stands the offer in Oakland is more legitimate and tangible than whats in Vegas.

I'd guess not a lot continue as A's fans. BA A's fans, that is. With Raiders, some segment continued on. A decent or even significant portion of Raiders fanbase is still in NorCal. I doubt that is the case if A's go to LV. It's probably going to happen so it will be interesting to see how that plays out with fans in the BA. If any of the media continue to cover the team too. Vic Tafur continues to cover The Raiders. JT also but he may be LV based now. In '24, just don't see a lot attending games, just a repeat of this year.

After watching the first half of this video, I was going to give Brodie some credit. He acted like a real human being who was expressing his emotions. I can understand him being hurt, and I will never fault him for loving the team on the field. (It should be noted, though, that the A's are more than just the team on the field. The A's are a business with financial interests in addition to success on the field.) But then Brodie fell back into the exact things that I have disliked in most of his videos for the past five-and-a-half months. He has spent so much time trying to find every fault with the A's being able to succeed in Las Vegas, pumping out videos on TH-cam even when I truly believe he didn't actually believe many of the words he was actually saying. At the same time, he hasn't shown why the A's would have or could have succeeded at Howard Terminal. If Brodie had focused more on his feelings and being upset over the A's possibly leaving Oakland instead of trying to nitpick about Vegas, I would not have had as many issues with most of his videos.
I have been following the A's search for a new ballpark since Cisco Field was announced in 2006. For the sake of full disclosure, my preference would still be for the A's to move to Fremont. After that, in order, my preferences are Las Vegas, current Coliseum site, and Howard Terminal. I never liked the Howard Terminal site, and saw many problems with it (very limited parking, cars that actually park there being broken into by criminal element in Oakland, me having to drive farther north on I-880 in heavy traffic to get to Howard Terminal, not near BART, horrific violent criminal activity in Oakland if I actually had to walk from BART to the ballpark, cold night games with the breeze coming off the Bay, etc.). Beyond that, there is no denying that the political atmosphere in Oakland is not friendly to business. To this day, I don't know how the Oakland City Council would have ever been able to stand up to the political interest groups and community organizers and actually approve a final deal for a new ballpark at Howard Terminal.
Personally, Fremont remains the most convenient location for a future ballpark. But I can't expect the A's to make future business decisions simply to keep me happy. I can see why Vegas is an attractive option for the team. And on a personal level, it would be so much more convenient to watch games at the Tropicana site (closer to my vacation house, less traffic, ample parking at surrounding casinos, preference for warm/hot weather, etc.) than at Howard Terminal.
I don't think A's ownership had a duty to do EVERYTHING in order to stay in Oakland. I feel that they put in a significant amount of effort trying to find a place for a new ballpark over the course of decades and were not able to reach a satisfactory deal anywhere in the Bay Area. That was more than enough effort on their part. As a business, they had to do what they felt was best for the organization moving forward.
Whether Brodie believes the A's will succeed in Las Vegas or not, A's ownership, the people who literally have billions of dollars at stake, clearly believe it is their best option. Unlike in Oakland, elected officials in Nevada and Clark County believe having the A's in Las Vegas will be a net benefit for the community, so the political support was strong and swift to get a deal done. And now it is up to the other MLB owners to chime in on whether they believe moving the A's to Vegas is a good move or not. This is the way the world works.
Oakland had the first opportunity to get things done. Officials dragged their heels, arrogantly took their sweet time, and blew it. A's ownership shouldn't be faulted for getting fed up and pursuing an option that they believe will be good for the team and that can actually be accomplished.
