"Tweleve Gates to the City" performed by Don Lewis featuring Roland's amazing Vocal & Ensemble Keyboard VP-550.
Much more than a traditional vocoder or harmonizer, the VP-550 uses Rolands breakthrough vocal-modeling technology to bring the highest-quality, interactive vocal sounds to a dedicated instrument. Connect a mic, select a sound, and play. You wont believe what can come out of this instrument: spectacular classical choirs, soulful gospel choirs, pop and jazz voices, male & female ensembles, vintage vocoder, and lush string/vocal hybrids.

So, what city are we singing about here? ...and what is the significance of there being 12 gates?
All kidding aside, the number of ways that I could use this vocoder in my own band is just blowing me away. Up to now, we've been able to get some choir sounds using harmonizers with our guitars. But now, I can see where we could layer our choir with strings and B3 voices. I've got to find one of these. It sure makes me wonder why in the world Roland stopped making these things. It seems like they had a real winner here.

the VP770 was out for all of a minute, it didn't even make the review rounds and yet they demoed it at NAMM et cetra. I think the vocal designer is now in-built into the Jupiter X
