One of the reasons I watch you is that you do appear strong , intellegent ,and able . You also have a great sense of humor! I always learn something and am inspired by watching Common Farms. Also love your mom!!! She’s also a strong, intellegent, able and inspirational woman. 🌸
Strong, capable and intelligent - You are all three! And you are real and authentic. Perhaps you're not a 21st century influencer. But more importantly, you are an inspiration to all of us. Don't change at all!
Well you're not one of the breed of influencers paid to wear expensive tat or appear to be idle and vain. Keep it up, you influence people with real values
THANK THE GOOD LORD you are not an influencer!! No, you are a decent, down to earth, very talented, very funny woman full of empathy, who also happens to run a really beautiful flower farm and happens to video it and her thoughts for the pleasure of those who care to watch (of which I am one....of many). Just be you Georgie, everyone else is taken (as the saying goes). I have found my mojo again in my garden, thanks to you and the way you approach it, and pretty much everything--with gusto and joy.
Too late, an influencer you are. You influence others to seek sustainability. You influence others to think about what they need and not just chase after the junk society tells us to. You influence others to care and invest in family; you respect your husband, your parents and you're there for your children. You influence others to find the best things in life and cherish and hold on to them so that they last for years. I'm on the other side of the pond but I'm thankful for your influence in my day to day.
Thank you for this video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Your lovely friend and colleague may have said that ‘you do not care what you look like’. I think that you do, and also you have your own indicative and creative style which appeals to many people who combine hard outside work with fun and joie de vivre. I do not know whether you know it, but you are actually an influencer! Do remember it depends who you are influencing, I would guess that the majority of your viewers could be ladies, not necessarily flower farmers, but whoever they are, I think they will love you for the person that you are and not the clothes that you are wearing. You are strong, capable and intelligent, and in my opinion, the epitome of women empowerment. To a certain degree, you could say you were the 20th century Constant Spry. Certainly your flower arrangements have that beautiful freeness and naturalistic style about them. I’m absolutely loving the bare feet. I’m sure you will get a lot of ‘grounding’ doing that and feel all that energy coming through from nature. Here is my top tip. With regards to Zoe, don’t forget, you can include herbs in your 30 fruit and vegetables a week. Morrisons do a cheap mixed herbs which includes: Thyme, Margoram, oregano, sage, and basil, just sprinkle that on anything you cook and already you are up by five! Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see Saskia‘s new shop in Wincanton. Tina and Richard ❤️
I don't think she meant it in a bad way - I think she meant I don't care in an am I pretty way - but I do care, when I think about it, that I look strong and capable and hope that if someone looks at me feeling strong and capable then they might feel strong and able too and if we all feel a bit stronger and a bit more able then there will be more confident people out there and that has to be a good thing - especially for those of us allergic to makeup x
and yes I love that the 30 can include coffee and red wine and cider apple vinegar and all the herbs and all the spices - that way it's not hard to get to thirty in a week - my fave new thing is fresh mint and Melissa snipped from the garden in yoghourt with fruit - YUM! XXX
You ARE strong, capable and intelligent! Your beauty shines brightly when you are doing what you love, namely teaching/sharing your passion for growing flowers, making arrangements and all things related that. Beauty is not limited to physical appearance, more importantly beauty is one’s essence…and blimey, you have both in spades! Love your channel, watch all your clips more than once if truth be told! I also love your sense of humour… Keep on being you❣️
Loved this whole thing, and I’m only half way through it! Full of beauty, strength and intelligent! I’m 20 years older than you, and find you to be so encouraging and inspiring! Happy stuff!
It's to late, you are already an influencer. Many of us watch your videos as soon as you upload. Not only are you a great flower farmer, but a very talented florist. But the best is you sense of humour. Such a clown. Keep them coming.
You are an influencer Georgie, it is your influence that has lead me to star growing cut flowers. Knowing you have had such a problem with slugs and snails this year has actually made me feel a little better. Never known such a bad year for the little blighters.
I come to your channel for: your flowers. Then for your personality. Then! Your mother. Both delightful ladies. Thank you from Franklin Tennessee , America. God bless. 🎉
You're a lovely gardener and obviously bright and strong; and you have very stylish glasses. You're gardening, wear whatever you're comfortable in ... This channel isn't a fashion show, just be you and know you're appreciated for what you do and the knowledge you share.
You are comfortable in your skin. That is what we all should strive to achieve. Love and acceptance of oneself. Please don't change. And you are an influencer on how to go through life loving what you do. Your mom is a great roll model too.
I have, from the beginning, before you began to share the sources of some of your "pieces" (woolen sweaters, beautiful blouses, cool rubber boots, intriguing lip rings, fantastic glasses, delicate earrings)... you quickly became, and remain, one of my top style icons... and when I found out that you had worked for Vogue, I thought, of course. You're gorgeous and totally stylish in a way I admire and enjoy so much. ROAR ❤ Oh yes, and then there's The magic you work with flowers and words and the art that is the way you share and inhabit your part of the planet xo
I love the wildflowers… so so beautiful! I laughed out loud several times as you are so natural and witty… you are beautiful inside and out …Georgie… I appreciate your hard work and dedication to your profession ! Love the barefoot walk about I do that too! 💕
My daughter and I often quote to each other and now to her 4 year old daughter a quote from “The Help”. “ You is smart, you is kind, you is important!”
You are capable strong and intelligent - we see you for you and we see the plants you are passionate about . You do care how you present what’s important to you and you do it brilliantly. And being a woman of the same age I agree with everything you’ve said.
You are an influencer in your own way 😊. You along with Charles Dowding, Dr Gabor Matè and Dr Rangan Chattergee have become my main You tube influencers. My brand new build garden is shaping up nicely with Veg and now 🌺. Thank you.
You've had an influence on me, in all the best ways. Having bought your 'grow your own wedding' book and doing that last year. I am currently half way through reading The Flower Farmer's Year - not bad considering I only got it about 5 hours ago! I don't think I will be a flower farmer this year, but growing my own cutting garden and selling the odd home grown bouquet, as well as providing all the flowers for my church arrangements is a good start. Dipping my toes perhaps! And I do admire your energy levels, especially with no sleep. Is the secret growing your own vegetables I wonder??!?!
Hats off to you Georgie! I am not a grower to sell but a grower to eat and smell and enjoy and provide for the birds and bees etc. I watch all of your clips because I so appreciate your down to earth approach to life, your 'enoughness' approach to making a living and your zest for life. I appreciate your recognition of what you have inherited from Googie and how all those 'influences' have shaped you to become the person you are today. All hail the bare feet, the duck poo, the manky jumpers, the well worn apron and the good food eaten out of the one pan! Definately my kind of influencer....

Love your ducks Georgie I had 3 pet ducks as a teenager , go ducks ! My problem with influencers is they dont come across as 'real' you on the other hand are a genuine hardworking ,passionate and funny thank you
every now and again I'm asked to say I really like a product or something and when I think about it I can't do it in a straightforward way unless I really love it and I don't always - it's a difficult thing x
Love watching your videos, very entertaining and informative but I was wondering have you thought of keeping Bees in your wild flower meadow ( might be easier said than done ) but thought I’d mention it. Another lovely video x
we do have bees - we have a wild hive in a corner far away from where most people walk and once a year they swarm and it's amazing to watch. We don't harvest the honey though - that's a whole other kettle of fish x
The fact that you’re strong, intelligent and able is your charm and makes you enjoyable to watch. I think it’s nice to live a life not dolled up to the nines all the time because it’s a treat for others when one makes an effort and scrubs up. Appearances aside, do you tie in your sweet peas or do you let them romp about in gay abandon up the jute netting?
I do tie sweet peas in from time to time - but it's much easier for them to climb up jute netting than the old plastic we used to use so they don't need so much tying in x
Georgie you are my influencer. It is just how I want to flower farm and and design. No one is looking at me. You are interesting informative fun and natural. and that is what influences me to pursue my life her in southeast Pennsylvania.. Thanks
You ARE an influencer in "working hard, teaching others and living a natural life". I don't want to be "smartly dressed and scared to bloody move". I was once told that I didn't look professional enough! Needless to say , they didn't have my "experience" for long 😅
Exactly, pay a bit more and wear it until they are rags, then cut them up for scraps in quilts or rags for that swear word "cleaning" 😅❤@@theflowerfarmer
Hello from New Zealand..love the ducks,😃I often used to let my Pekins into the gardens/ grounds to clean slugs up and they were brilliant, thankfully we don’t have foxes here in NZ to worry about. Thanks for video, always enjoy
Omg the buttercups beautiful. The little ducks are so cute what a life. I really enjoy seeing what you are up to on any given day. Your down to earth and easy to watch as I sit here in Vancouver 5am in the morning listening to the birds with my morning coffee.
I always used to garden in bare feet unless heavy digging . I learned over the years of gardening , over 50yrs , how to feel the quality of the soil with my feet . Digging my wiggly wee toes into the soil is a particular joy which I miss now I am unable to walk .
@@theflowerfarmer oh yes , all I need is the lovely smell of soil and away I go . As you can probably tell I am a bit of a soil geek , haha , not a bad thing I think .
You will appreciate my absolute bliss when I was able to survey a part of my garden today after a very unwell fortnight and I discovered some beautiful Wintersweet sparkling back at me . ( mid winter Sth Is NewZealand ) I love the way you always talk about light , I feel the same way , and the stunning dappled light coming from the Winter sun twinkling through the lemony flowers uplifted my spirits . My eternal optimism in the face of chronic bad health is not based on false foundations but the firm belief in the power of gratitude , and with gardens there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for .❤️
Again you made me laugh out loud, and smile. Great day! Glad you have a spot for your tea cup, excellent advice. I need a spot for my espresso iced latte (somewhat obsessed). 😊 ( I have American Buff geese, and I love them)
I would love to have a set of ducks on slug patrol, and, so would my lab! So instead I’ve turned to summer weight, .55oz frost cloth. Originally used to deter deer from devouring my hostas & hydrangeas, it has seemed to work at keeping most slugs at bay. This is all the more surprising considering every time it rains there’s standing water in the hosta beds. I live in western NY where we too have had an extremely wet spring. Anyway…… love your videos & think you’re right on about appearances.
You are most definitely strong, capable and importantly, very intelligent. You are a delight to watch, to listen to and learn from. Your vlogs are a weekly must watch. Keep doing it your way.
Aww love your ducks! I have 5 Rouen’s and 2 Runner ducks and I spend a lot of time in the garden chucking at their antics and watching them waddle in a row here and there. They don’t bother my garden like my chickens and they just add so much joy to my life. I feed them the same time in the evening to get them into their safe coop and that is a great help against the predators.
they are such fun aren't they x good idea about feeding them at the same time to get them into their little house at night - ours are v funny - they've started putting themselves to bed and if I'm late to shut them in they are quite indignant x
Lost sculptured box tree to box caterpillars, the miniature christmas tree went brown..lost. The roses on the climing frame have mould and the lovely young buds are glued shut.Even the catmint has gone brownish in the south facing back garden.....something cheerful?? the Astrantias do not give a toss about the weird climate and some of the hardy geraniums look great weaving and floating along ...What strange awful weather and cold as well Heh - Ho Best Wishesxxx P.S do ducks like wood lice tons of them!!
The ducks are so cute! Thank you very much for sharing your strength and motivation to encourage others. It is not always easy to keep up being strong, intelligent, and capable. Because unfortunately, people who are not will give you negative feedback for being that and acting accordingly.
I've lost home-grown sunflower seedlings plus oriental poppies to the slugs, never known anything like it. I've tried Shell on Earth, they just trudge over that. I have now applied a smattering of wood ash, which seems to have stopped the little b*****s....x
I was interested in joining your vlog channel because you have knowledge, enthusiasm and a bloody wonderful s.o.h and flower farm. Kiwi gals are tomboys and love going barefoot, well the gardeners and beach goers mainly. As long as you are comfortable and warm. Can dig good-sized holes for transplanting perenials when needed and get dirty and sweaty, learning as you go, nothing else matters. Nice to know, as 50 plus women think life is less about looks and more about substance. I find snail eggs like to hide in the under side of terracotta pots. I also go around with a torch late at night and wear my crocs to squish as many slugs and snails as possible. The birds eat up the left overs. Best time to do this is at the end of winter or the beginning of spring, when everythings still moist and wet. Love the little chattering of the ducks. They will devour snail and slugs very happily.😊 What a buggar the slugs have eaten your new perenials....the roots might still be underground. Putting a bit of beer in a small plastic container and sit them at the edge of your flower border, the slugs will drink and fall in and die quite drunk and deluded. Jo Massey. Nz
'Influencing' should be about inspiring people in positive way - which I believe you accomplish. Unlike the same 'influencer' label placed on degenerates that bring society down...we can do without those people influencing anyone thank you
Have you tried putting beer in a small bowl to attract the slugs? It works except when it rains and we forget to add more beer. We catch about 7 or 8 slugs each evening when we remember to add more beer. Just an idea. I love your personality and genuine -ness. 🥰
But you are an influencer I just bought your book. I don't care how you look You give wonderful gardening advice that I'm already using on my 5 1⁄2 acres here in Michigan in United You give wonderful gardening advice that I'm already using on my 5 1⁄2 acres here in Michigan in the United States.
Not caring about being pretty is the coolest stance in my opinion, I for one hope to see more influencers demonstrating that❤ Love your content Georgie!
I don't watch influencers. I prefer lifestyle business gurus(that's you)! You inspire me more than any other. As someone with autoimmune disease I'm a little, sometimes a lot short on the energy but I try to do something everyday and if I can pull it together I will start selling flowers tomorrow. My business name is "Late Bloomer Botanicals" tag line- better late than never.
Ive had ducks for 10 years and yes they are great slug eaters but after a while they will figure what is tasty like sweetpea and ranunculus and when the rain comes say goodbye to your grass. Now i have 30 so maybe thats why they destroy the place so fast. I wouldn't change it, though. I love having them. I use horse bedding made from rape-seed shavings for their house, they poop all over it and then it makes great mulch. Youll be shocked how many big healthy worms that bedding attracts. I also use the bedding to protect my dahlias from frost, i leave them in the ground all year with a thick layer of bedding. Then when they start to sprout i use the dry crispy bedding as a slug deterrent, because the ducks cant be around small seedlings.Their eggs are healthier than chicken eggs. Only thing that is important is giving them a proper deep pond because they love to dive and splash. Also peas are really important to give once a week for niacin. They love watermelon and cucumber for treats.
Is the tall yellow "person" plant Hieracium? AKA Hawkweed? -- Also, ducks do far less damage to your crop than chickens! Brilliant. Strong. Thoughtful. That's Georgie! Thanks for being you and sharing! 💖🌼💐💐
Have you tried coffee grounds to deter slugs? It really works! Starbucks here in Maryland and other states are giving away large bags of used grounds fot gardens. It has been wonderful for my hosta and seedlings.
The ducks look very cute. Keep us updated :-). From a farmer who has 2 similar ducks I understood that they sometimes also eat/damage their seedlings, I am curious if this will be the case for you. I also would like to ask you if you could make a video about making compost or how you do this at Common Farm. I see you sometimes mention to put stuff on your compost pile, but I also see you buy compost. Greetings from the Netherlands!

lol - I'm a big believer in wearing best clothes all the time though - because otherwise they never get worn in my world x
Exactly, pay a bit more and wear it until they are rags, then cut them up for scraps in quilts or rags for that swear word "cleaning" 😅❤@@theflowerfarmer
You do look strong capable and intelligent!
thank you x
Hooray for the ducks!!! I need them in my garden too.
they are such charming little friends x
Hello from New Zealand..love the ducks,😃I often used to let my Pekins into the gardens/ grounds to clean slugs up and they were brilliant, thankfully we don’t have foxes here in NZ to worry about. Thanks for video, always enjoy
hello New Zealand! xxx
Omg the buttercups beautiful. The little ducks are so cute what a life. I really enjoy seeing what you are up to on any given day. Your down to earth and easy to watch as I sit here in Vancouver 5am in the morning listening to the birds with my morning coffee.
hello Vancouver! x
I always used to garden in bare feet unless heavy digging . I learned over the years of gardening , over 50yrs , how to feel the quality of the soil with my feet . Digging my wiggly wee toes into the soil is a particular joy which I miss now I am unable to walk .
you're right - I sounds as though you can conjure up the memory well though x
My eternal optimism in the face of chronic bad health is not based on false foundations but the firm belief in the power of gratitude , and with gardens there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for .❤️
The flowers for One Bruton are stunning. Thank you for sharing your day. I adore your ducks and they earn their keep eating the snails. Win win!
You are so welcome x
Again you made me laugh out loud, and smile. Great day! Glad you have a spot for your tea cup, excellent advice. I need a spot for my espresso iced latte (somewhat obsessed). 😊 ( I have American Buff geese, and I love them)
your geese sound great x
Each to their own but 'influencer' is anathema to me. 🧡 the ducks 😊
I think it's hard work being an influencer x glad you love the ducks x
Common farm is beautiful ❤
thank you x
You influence us with every video you put out. Thank you.
thank you x
I love your channel, love the flowers ❤ you’re a fun, funny person. ( good friend material I think )
Thank you so much x
Loved this video! Sweet peas, ducks, bouquet arranging...all enjoyable.
Thanks so much! x
Anyway…… love your videos & think you’re right on about appearances.
that's v interesting x I would have thought they'd love it for cover x
You are most definitely strong, capable and importantly, very intelligent. You are a delight to watch, to listen to and learn from. Your vlogs are a weekly must watch. Keep doing it your way.
Thank you! 😊 x
The farm is looking beautiful and I appreciate you keeping things real…slugs! They are a menace! Beautiful stroll through the flowers✨⭐️✨
thank you x
I love my ducks, they are my garden warriors.
totes agree x
The roses on the climing frame have mould and the lovely young buds are glued shut.Even the catmint has gone brownish in the south facing back garden.....something cheerful?? the Astrantias do not give a toss about the weird climate and some of the hardy geraniums look great weaving and floating along ...What strange awful weather and cold as well Heh - Ho Best Wishesxxx P.S do ducks like wood lice tons of them!!
it's a hideous difficult season though the astrantias are loving the wet - yes freezing xxx
Funny, I was just thinking about your new employees. I had to rescue my tree spinach from slugmageddon and wished I had a duck or two.
Slugmageddon made me laugh, about the only thing funny so far with the slimey little beggars.
it's a baaaad year for slugs x
I just found you on here ,and you are funny and down to earth and real, love your video and because of you I subscribe, great fun thank you😊
ah thank you x
I think you’re AMAZING!
Ah thank you x
The ducks are so cute! Thank you very much for sharing your strength and motivation to encourage others. It is not always easy to keep up being strong, intelligent, and capable. Because unfortunately, people who are not will give you negative feedback for being that and acting accordingly.
I'm a keen dispenser of strength to all x
It's just so many more important things now
there are many important things xxx
You are strong, capable and intelligent--all in bare feet! I am with you.
hurrah! x
I've lost home-grown sunflower seedlings plus oriental poppies to the slugs, never known anything like it. I've tried Shell on Earth, they just trudge over that. I have now applied a smattering of wood ash, which seems to have stopped the little b*****s....x
ooh wood ash very good soil conditioner and high potash too #winwin x
They will devour snail and slugs very happily.😊
What a buggar the slugs have eaten your new perenials....the roots might still be underground.
Putting a bit of beer in a small plastic container and sit them at the edge of your flower border, the slugs will drink and fall in and die quite drunk and deluded.
Jo Massey. Nz
the ducks are being brilliant x
'Influencing' should be about inspiring people in positive way - which I believe you accomplish. Unlike the same 'influencer' label placed on degenerates that bring society down...we can do without those people influencing anyone thank you
thank you x
Have you tried putting beer in a small bowl to attract the slugs? It works except when it rains and we forget to add more beer. We catch about 7 or 8 slugs each evening when we remember to add more beer. Just an idea. I love your personality and genuine -ness. 🥰
I'd need a lot of small bowls of beer... a kilometre of beds - the ducks are doing a great job x
But you are an influencer I just bought your book. I don't care how you look You give wonderful gardening advice that I'm already using on my 5 1⁄2 acres here in Michigan in United You give wonderful gardening advice that I'm already using on my 5 1⁄2 acres here in Michigan in the United States.
hello Michigan! x
😂😅🤣
I had ducks in my garden and they use to follow me around.
I love the way they do this x
You are not alone.. it was Slug fest 24 here in WNY. Loads of complaints on a few Facebook groups.
it's been a very sludgy year world wide x
Not caring about being pretty is the coolest stance in my opinion, I for one hope to see more influencers demonstrating that❤ Love your content Georgie!
thank you x muscle is my superpower x
@@theflowerfarmer 🙂👌💗💪💕
And Thank You!
you're welcome x
I don't watch influencers. I prefer lifestyle business gurus(that's you)! You inspire me more than any other. As someone with autoimmune disease I'm a little, sometimes a lot short on the energy but I try to do something everyday and if I can pull it together I will start selling flowers tomorrow. My business name is "Late Bloomer Botanicals" tag line- better late than never.
Brilliant - love the business name xxx
They love watermelon and cucumber for treats.
top tips thank you so much x
V interesting video thanks
you're welcome x
Could the ducks go in the studio overnight to protect them from foxes? It breaks my heart to think of them getting predated😥
They have a little house they get shut in at night x don’t worry x
I have slugs and I have so many secrets how to deal with them, and yes I'm winning, Love to share my tips and knowledge.
good luck! x
Is the tall yellow "person" plant Hieracium? AKA Hawkweed? -- Also, ducks do far less damage to your crop than chickens! Brilliant. Strong. Thoughtful. That's Georgie! Thanks for being you and sharing! 💖🌼💐💐
yes I love the ducks - Fabrizio says autumn hawksbitt but feels a bit early to me x
Have you tried coffee grounds to deter slugs? It really works! Starbucks here in Maryland and other states are giving away large bags of used grounds fot gardens. It has been wonderful for my hosta and seedlings.
awful thing is I've had so little problem with slugs for years that I've forgotten all about things like coffee grounds - I'm told they work well x
I live on San Juan island Washington USA,lots of slugs here! Love the ducks,do they damage your plants while eating the slugs?
so far plenty of slugs and no plant damage - but I'm reliably informed they will start on the plants if they run out of other activities x
Greetings from the Netherlands!
yes we've moved them on now to another slug infested patch before they start digging up the dahlias x
My salvia uglinosa walks almost a foot a year! (Cal USA)
it's so funny! mine's been in the same place for ten years but this year... moved right over x
I cannot hear Putting On the Ritz, without thinking of the movie, Young Frankenstein. Have you seen it?
no! must look it up x
