I often get asked to do specific flies but when I was asked to tie the Angel Cormorant I had no clue what it even looked like. After some investigation I found that it is an old pattern (at least ten years) that has found a bit of a resurgence on the Stillwater scene. One fishery where it is doing rather well is Loch Insch and the manager there David Murray kindly sent a photograph and gave me the dressing.
I did not have the exact materials but I think this is a good approximation of the pattern. Peter Cowie also sent me a few photographs which showed a black version. I would suggest that you have a wee play with the basic idea and use that as a base line. Use the materials you have to hand and see what you can come up with.
Please don't forget to let me know in the comments section below.

Neat little bug there Lyndsay. I always think of Cormorants as being black. Would not have imagined a bright yellow one! Thank you for another one dude.

I fished it last year Loch insh it was well worth the drive we had 75 fish between 4 of us I ended the day on 22 with numerous dropped fish fishing a sparse damsel nymph & white cheeked Diawl Bachs that’s a nice Cormie Lindsay I will save it so I can tie it 🐟🎣

I like this pattern in yellow. I'm not sure why but yellow is a good colour. You did a good job of pulling the marabou wing shorter, I still see people cutting them and giving the wing an unnatural look.
What is the difference between Comp Candy marabou or Biots and other biots and marabou? Brighter colours? Some of the materials at the shop you mentioned are items you use and I want to order some but I want to avoid redundancy in colours.
Hey as usual Lindsay another good video. Another good fly!

You won't go far wrong with any of the comp candy range of colours they are all fish catchers. The difference is in the quality of the feather and how it's been dyed. The Comp Candy stuff is one of the best I have ever used.

I hope so too, I am limited to a bit of Stillwater fishing at Albury until we come out of tier 4.

Try tying the wing on closer to the tips of the marabou. 👍
