I feel like if Chelsea are gonna use crosses to break low blocks, then we need a striker with good aerial quality. Jackson couldn't win any of the crosses that were put into the box. And with our wingers maintaining the width, we need a box striker just to be able to change dynamics
I agree, this is spot on. Jackson is very good, but is mainly a runner in beyond and hasn’t refined his aerial game yet. A player like an Osimhen, or even a Gyokeres would be able to make better runs, smarter shorter runs to get into the right areas. Not to take anything away from Jackson though, he’s been pretty good this season. Thanks for watching mate!
@@ouroborosnagyok9306 Duran and samu haven't been proved yet and sesko will be a good buy but osimhen is better overall especially in aerial duels where osimhen is excellent
He really is very good in the air, assuming he gets more game time I fully expect him to get a couple goals, especially with the delivery of this Chelsea squad. Thanks for watching mate!
I'll see what I can do mate, if they go back to how they were from the last 5 games then it will definitely be something that will be discussed. Thanks for watching!
The only reason we were able to win CL under Tuchel because Tuchel knows how to defend the counter attacks... And Chelsea after Tuchel are not able to defend the counter attacks because we loose most of the time after getting the lead and that is because Chelsea do not have proper defending in place
Agreed, they still look quite open on the transition and Maresca needs to look to fix that, some experience in Chalobah might be the missing piece to help them with that, let’s wait and see. Thanks for watching!
So while there are similarities, the important things I think are noticeably different are the very aggressive position of Cucurella in tandem with the other two (being Palmer and KDH) and the overwhelming of that midfield area, forcing that Wolves line back, tempting the aggression from the CB's to exploit the space behind. The integration of Chalobah was very good and having Reece James as a centre back brought a good composed back 3 in possession. All of this comes together and brings that balance I was talking about during the video, small but crucial details. Thanks for watching mate!
Nice breakdown but it’s easy to win against relegation fighting wolves side who won 2 in their last 10 in the prem. Maresca needs to show he can find solutions consistently and win the harder games too because the form lately has been completely unacceptable. I need to see Maresca utilizing the entire squad and showing better in-game management before I’ll be convinced about him.
Thank you! I think there will definitely be bigger, more difficult challenges, but it was impressive how he was able to find a solution to a problem that Chelsea have struggled with in recent memory. You're right to wait to be convinced, the game against Man City will be a huge challenge and it will be interesting to see whether Maresca and the side can step up to the challenge. Thanks for watching and supporting mate!
@ I’m not going to make my decision based on one game, but it would be so good to beat city ngl. In any case win or lose please keep posting these breakdowns, I enjoy the format and your analysis is on point. Keep it up!
That's definitely one part of it👍, unsure whether it was Maresca's decision or a financial one since he's home grown but either way, a good thing for Chelsea that he's back. If you wanna know the rest, I'd recommend you watch😉
Not quite sure that 19 shots, 4 big chances, 3.2 XG, 3 goals is struggling to create chances, but the wingers did have a more complicated time against the back 5, that being said, the cross from Madueke opened up for the second, I think they played a pretty good game. Thanks for watching mate!
He's taking more time that I would have thought to find himself a place in Maresca's system but he definitely has qualities that can help. Thanks for watching!
Im afraid you might be wrong. 2 of 3 goals from Chelsea came from set pieces. This shows how we used to defeat low blocks in Terry-Ivanovic era: hit them with set pieces. Only 1 goal came from open play, it shows that we actually didn't do much in open play. This proves that we need some tall physical players either up front or at the back to kill those set pieces.
Everyone is entitled to differing opinions and that's what makes doing this so great, seeing the different opinions of others and their perspective on football.👍 What I will say is that the goals that were scored can be misleading, just because 2 goals came from set pieces doesn't mean that they didn't create chances from open play, they actually had a higher open play xg than from their set pieces. While there was threat from Chelsea on set pieces, there was arguably more threat from open play, it's just that those chances weren't converted in this particular match. As for the player profiles, I think a strong striker who can really convert chances might be something Chelsea should look at, an Osimhen or a Gyokeres for example. Thanks for watching mate!
Chelsea have struggled quite badly against back 5’s, to the point where they went without a win in 5 games on the bounce, a couple of changes and they were able to create some major opportunities and win the game. Although the changes are subtle, they really helped. Part of Cunha not performing is also down to the way Chelsea defended him. Thanks for watching mate!
it worked well because of the solidity in defence. that was one of our best defensive performances this season. would have been better had sanchez not been sanchez
So there’s two things to this, one is the aggressive position of Cucurella, instead of starting deep when inverting and making a large run towards the box, he took up a position next to Palmer and KDH and stayed there, this gave Palmer a greater licence to roam with the ability for those half spaces to be continuously occupied, forcing the opposition midfield into a tough decision, always giving Chelsea a free man. The second is around the defence, because there was a better balance to this defence, there was less availability for counters by Wolves and a greater ability to sustain attacks and recycle possession to allow for those aggressive positions to have greater potency. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching mate!
This game was a great improvement for Chelsea, this time even without Enzo making those great long passes Cucurella pushed more towards the box instead of inverting into midfield alongside Caicedo. This like Zekko said forced Wolves' defense to be outnumbered in the attacking area, and Chelsea were successful in stretching apart their defenders. Palmer and Madueke had 2-3 men on them at times and they took good advantage of that. Another good thing about Cucurella being so high up is being there for crosses and rebounds, Chelsea need to take advantage of these two things more They also had a great defense this game. Reece James was doing a great job of locking down Cunha, Chalobah made many key interceptions/blocks, and Tosin made lots of great line breaking passes forward

But… we’ve done this all season when playing against a back 5.
