Gear 5 is very op. It is stated in chapter 1043-1046 that the limit the Gear 5 is imagination. This allows luffy to take solid objects such as the ground and turn it into rubber which is how he deflected kaidos attack. He can forcefully restart his heart, Grabbed lightning and threw it like a spear at kaido, ran in mid air in a cartoonish style, and turn into a giant. Even in recent chapters 1070, luffy turned into pac man a tried to eat lucci. Luffy has always been a childish character, so giving him the most cartoony power up is probably the best story writing as it fits his character very well.
Also Luffy is very resistant if not immune to fire, poison, and blunt attacks.
That's just his devil fruit, his haki buffs everything by A LOT. He has trained his observation haki to the point where he can see full seconds Into the future, His armament is ryou which allows the user to destroy an opponent from the inside causing major damage. And he has advanced conquers haki which can be used for defense or offense. This allows the user to deal immense damage with needing to touch or come in contact with the opponent. When two of these user clash it's like putting the same side of a magnet together where they just won't touch. Luffy and kaido does this and splits the heavens in episode 1051. Zoro also has these powers, Sanji as well excluding conquer haki and ryou, he has normal armament but his ifrit jambe allows his attack to strike way harder and faster and become much harder.

All his gear forms always were introduced with major long term consequences, but there was nothing caused by them until now. Some folks theorize that luffy might have the same end as Roger after he becomes king of the pirates because of these "long term consequences" that are yet to appear.
Thats what i've been thinking too hopefully Luffy doesnt go out like that, and gear 5 shouldn't have any crazy consequences since its basically his normal devil fruit just maxed out kinda
@The Gaming Paladin says the manga chopper has a zone just like Luffy the consequences with Luffys. Other forms were due to the fact that he wasn’t using his devil fruit properly. He was using his rubber body to accelerate, his heart rate, and he was forcefully inflating his body. The Nika form does that naturally, so if it functions like the other zones, we’ve seen which it should he shouldn’t have any drawbacks aside from stamina.

At one point when Sanji was MIA, Luffy deliberately STARVED himself vowing he wouldn't eat anything other than Sanji's cooking as sort of an act of defiance or whatever. Its important that during said arc, they were basically on an island that was dedicated to almost nothing BUT food.

Not invincible and not internal. Kaido's skin is extremely strong, but if you can get past that, he will die. He has been cut before.

There are 3 forms of Haki:
1: Observation Haki- allows the user to sense the presence of others, even if they are concealed from view or too far to see naturally. Can also slightly see the future if you're especially skilled with it.
2: Armament Haki- enables the user to develop armor-like protection in their body and may be utilized on weapons to boost the power of their attacks.
3: Conquer's Haki- allows the user to show off their willpower by imposing it on others. It's actually described as "The ability to stand above all others" by Boa Marigold

The reason why Snake man isn't that OP is that if you're fast enough to dodge, you're probably fast enough to counter the punches before they get out of hand.
Or if you're insanely faster, you can dodge until Luffy's punches become so fast that not even Luffy can change their direction in time, and it'll hit something

The more luffy uses gear 5 the more he starts to manipulate reality. Shown in Egghead island (the latest arc) he grabs a piece of his cloudy hair and turns it into actual goggles made out of normal materials, basically altering matter
I mean he was already altering matter the second he unlocked the form; Turning in-malleable materials to be malleable and Turning energy to solids

Early in the series, Armament Haki was mostly invisible, so later on, the idea of "coating" was introduced, where you can harden your Armament Haki into a solid, metal like substance and coat your weapons are body parts with it
This mainly allowed Oda to visibly indicate when Armament Haki was being used, which was important because hitting someone with Haki negates their devil fruit power while your Haki is in contact them
Prior to coating, we just had to guess if someone was using Armament Haki or not, but thanks to coating, we can now see it and guess less often lol

People who claim that G5 is just making the surroundings rubbery are going off of the statements of Kaido about how his fruit would be supposed to work if it's the rubber fruit but even kaido acknowledges that the transformation makes no sense cause normally that's the exclusive ability of zoan fruits, in future fights he even pulls off more feats that have nothing to do with rubber like creating glass goggles out of his hair that cannot be explained by the making things rubbery claim
As for gear 2 it was initially damaging the body. I think its because he was in less control of it using his legs. He always steamed and would literally run out of steam and could pass out. Post time skip when luffy uses his arms for gear 2 he isnt always steaming but usually has the glowing skin. Plus he turns gear 2 off and on mid battle to optimize the time he uses it
Haki is a form of defense and offense technique that majority of people know there are 3 types and those 3 types can be used on battle but you have to refine and make the haki stronger which not alot of pirates can't do and in battle haki does matter
Gear 5's power is his imagination (I mean, he literally pulled a pair of goggles out of his hair one time...), but the thing is, he doesn't know that. He still thinks he's just a rubber boy. No one has told him about Nika. He probably still thinks his fruit is a paramecia type, instead of a mythical zoan type.

He gave a brief explanation about the true nature of his fruit in front of *SOME* of the Straw hats, but this was when Luffy was actively in gear5 fighting Lucci... he was no where near Vegapunk, as he was actively fighting in a completely different room (Vegapunk/Shaka and the other Straw Hats where watching from some monitors)

Gear 5 hasn’t been fully explored. Recent chapter show he’s able to create matter out of his own hair. We don’t know what else he can alter at this point, reality really isn’t far fetched.

Ok first off he’s not immune to cut damage kaido literally stated gear 5 was weak to his club which btw was able to snow luffy scream in pain, he’s not immune to fire kaidos last attack was so hot luffy was screaming and his hand was throbbing from the intense heat, he’s not immune to blunt damage he’s just somewhat resistant against them tbey still hurt but because he’s rubber it usually gets absorbed until he’s outstretched and he gets torn apart
He can hold is as long as his body can handle because he loses lifespan whenever he uses a gear transformation but after timeskip he barely loses time for gear fourth maybe 4 days- 1 week
Gear second when first introduced was said to shorted luffys lifespan..but as he got stronger he learned to use it in short bursts ...and he's kinda learned not rely on it so heavily anymore tbh and mostly just utilizes his haki

When gear 5 was first shown, it was also revealed that Luffy didn't eat the gomu gomu no mi and he actually ate the hito hito no mi model nika, or the sun god nika fruit. The awakening allows him to transfer his imagination to other substances. But since he thinks he has the gomu gomu no mi, he can only turn other things into rubber (at the moment).
yes and he ate the fruit at the age of 7, so if you tell a 7 year old you are rubber, his imagination goes "okay I'm rubber now." It's only after his awakening that Luffy is "influenced" subtly by Nika to try other things. (head-cannon only do not shoot.)

He can create whatever he wants too. In created glasses thanks to the clouds hair he has. It's more than just modifying what's around him, he can also create non existent things.
Not only does luffy stop entire wars for some food but he once ate enough food for the whole crew in like one frame
if u catch up on the lore ,luffy is sometimes referred to as "the sun god" or "JoyBoy" because he was the only one to eat the fruit jb did in 800 years but nobody knew because the navy kept EVERYTHING about the void century a secret not even admirals know about the void century. "JoyBoy" stands for "jaguar binks" who used to rule over the world as a kindhearted person during the void century. any case jb is a good king of the world.
Luffy was not the only person to eat the Nika fruit, the WG spent 800 years looking for it and they bring up how it was constantly getting away. Other people ate the fruit it's just that after they started to use it and they saw it was "usless" they just lived a normal life and when they died the fruit grew somewhere else and someone new ate it and the cycle started over again until the WG sent who's who to find it and it got stolen by shanks

Yo this will be important for you if your gonna react to one piece videos
Armament haki : coats your attacks with a invisible armor to enhance is attack, more durable, armament haki is actually invisible but for us is black so we know when Luffy uses it
Observation haki : this gives the user on what to do/future sight, the user can see attacks from 5 seconds into the future if I'm not wrong, observation haki is definitely one of the most important haki (even tho there's only 3)
Conquerors haki : this type of haki only multiple users have, who ever has a kingly ambition usually have this haki (dream of becoming pirate king, domination of the world and etc.) This haki can knock out people
Advanced armament haki : this haki is deadlier then the normal one, this allows the user to attack from inside even though the punch is outside of another users body
Advanced observation haki : just way more better it gives like 10 seconds of future sight
Supreme color king haki or what ever : bigger radius to knock people out, you can infuse this haki with advanced armament haki to make it deadlier, if your a sword user and the enemy is a sword user two and both of you infuse this haki with advanced armament haki, the swords will not touch but make like a shock wave that's all of the haki explained (there might be some mistakes)
Also luffys stretch is not infinite, he can only stretch 64 gomus gomus if I'm not wrong in the same arc with the fight of katakuri, he was on his limit which almost broke his arm, 64 gomus gomus is atleast around 156 meters or so
The thing about kiado he is very strong but Luffy wasn't really at the lv he needed to be to beat kaido now after training and refining his haki on wano that's when he was able to do damage to kaido and after Luffy DF awakening make it more possible for Luffy to take the W

Gear 2 came with a risk at the time he first use it with Luffy when using gear 2 he pumps blood cells which is what causes him to go faster not only that but more oxygen and nutrients and then attacks become more powerful
When he first felt Lucci it was only temporary because it burns through a lot of energy quickly now after 2 year time skip he refined it to the point where he only needs to use 2 gear with just an arm in side effects its don't hurt him as much

Most of luffys gear states are only used for a few minutes at a time, in real time which is like 3 episodes in anime time, but yeah most of his forms don't go on for an extended period of time, also he mastered them so for gear2 as an example he's to the point where he doesn't need the full body transformation and can just focus it to a single body part for a single attack then turn it off go into another gear, so despite how dumb luffy acts quite the gifted fighter and utilizes his ability masterfully
gear 5 DOES allow you to manipulate reality BUT luffy still thinks he has eaten the rubber fruit and the actual fruit is the human human fruit model nika(nika is the sun god in one piece and nika has the power of imagination)

Every gear transformation starts at being able to used for like 1-5 minutes and long recovery times but after using the transformations again and again he learns how to use the gears for longer and longer time periods

One of the many mysteries were still waiting for in one piece is that all of these forms tend to shorten his life span and so far it's only been two years into the show and sometimes like with the gear 5 we actually see the aging effects
He couldn't beat Kaido because Kaido is *built different* ...that pirate king form is that guy's tinfoil theory, there is no proof or anything speculating that Luffy has another transformation after 5th gear.

@@alrmalikk in base he can create a thousand or more clones and literally just spam jutsu. Not to mention he has greater speed feats than almost anyone in One Piece as a kid in OG Naruto. A Rasengan or Rasenshuriken is doing serious damage to majority of the One Piece verse so imagine thousands of him spamming them at you.
But even then, if not base he is not going to have to use KCM at all I know that for sure. Maybe he’d go as far as Sage Mode. (Also when I say base I don’t mean without using the 9 tails at all, Naruto in base still uses Kurama chakra but just doesn’t use a substantial amount of it. If he goes KCM 1 he can literally just blow up the planet and one shot the verse, which is why I say he shouldn’t need to use either KCM 1 or 2. Their are some deranged people who think he’d need to use Baryon mode to beat the One Piece verse, but that’d just be completely overkill)

i dont wanna get into hot arguments but i dont think naruto soloes the verse but most of the op verse to be honest. Like the other guy said, some logias could catch naruto off guard and has a tiny chance to beat naruto but naruto is very strong. People like kaido, probably luffy, and prime reileigh, prime WB, and roger because most of them have very good conquerers and can also do very good damage. Im not a one piece fanboy but this is just my honest opinion about this topic. I also thing base luffy could never beat base naruto. Naruto is insanely strong aswell so its obvious that he can win. I would say some other charecters could probably beat him but once again, thats just my opinion.

He can warp the properties of his surroundings in gear five and make them behave like rubber, and that’s what he did with the ground underneath him and Kaido (doflamingo did the same by turning brick and stone buildings into string with his devil fruit power). But reality warping is not far off because while inside Kaido after getting swallowed, he saw two lights and reached for them. Those lights turned out to be Kaido’s pupils, and his hands came straight through Kaido’s eyes. observation haki, allows him to see the future although is highly reliant on his physical ability compared to his opponent to be very useful.
conquerors haki, allows him to express his will onto someone, knocking them out if they're weaker, and screwing with them mentally if they are equal, if two conquerors khaki's clash, they either cancel each other out, OR one overpowers the other.
also, the weakness to snake mans python, is that if his opponent lets him keep it up, he'll have to stay still.

gear 2 is also rationalized by all of luffy's organs being made of rubber, therefore he can raise his blood pressure much higher and put more stress on his heart but it can take it because it's made of rubber and won't burst

In the case of Kaido, luffy would need a very long time for his punch to be strong enough to one shot kaido and by that point kaido could just move in and attack luffy so he either takes the hit or hits kaido with what he’s got already meaning he likely wouldn’t be able to get it strong enough to

Here's the thing about Luffy: He has a defined limit to how far he can stretch and he is not invulnerable. Snake man thus has a limited amount the attack can build up and the arm is vulnerable because it is stretched so long.
The only thing stopping luffy from being completely OP is the fact that he isn't aware that it's not just a fruit that makes a person's body seemingly acquire rubber like abilities, making him not able to use it to it's full potential as he doesn't know it has completely different powers. Along with this, it's said it's only limit is imagination, and luffy is known for his wild creativity when it comes to battle IQ. If he was aware his fruit was the Sun God and NOT a simple rubber fruit, his gear 5 would be immensely stronger than it currently is now
