@@lacigreen3968 I believe Rayray's point was that it's stupid on Cold Steel's part to employ some random guy who probably doesn't know shit about swords to talk about swords. This can probably be seen in the low level of professionalism and calling a chinese "dadao" (or "big knife" translated literally from 大刀) a "chinese war sword", which can be considered way to broad since the dadao is a very specific type of sword used in ancient to 20th century chinese warfare, especially when compared with the likes of the "zhanmadao" (斬馬刀, literally "horse chopping sabre") or the "shuang gou" (钩, literally "hook sword"), which are all very different "chinese war swords" in shape, size and technique required to wield them.
Good video. This is the sword Chinese soldiers and civilians used to fight against the Japanese in melee battle during the Sino-Japanese war. Before, the bayonet casuality ratio between Chinese soldier and Japanese solider is like 5:1, after using this sword, the ratio goes to 1:1 and sometimes even 1:2
Connor K This sword is an excellent weapon for melee battles. Bayonet training requires more time to be train and the Chinese do not have that luxury. So they turn to the swords and had martial artists to train them. Martial artsts had developed simple steps for Chinese soldiers to learn how to use and master the use of the swords and it takes only several weeks of constant training to do so. For the Japanese, only officers carry swords as they are badges of ranks. Most the swords that Japanese officers carry are sabers known as shinguntos that takes the form of the traditional katana swords. Only a handful carry genuine katana swords as they are most likley family heirlooms. The sword is one Chinese weapon that the Japanese feared. Many Japanese soldiers had lost their lives and limbs at the hands of Chinese soldiers armed with the swords. The Japanese has underestimated to capability of the Chinese sword. To counter the blows of the Chinese swords, Japanese frontline soldiers are issued with special iron collars or body armor. However, they fail to provide any protection as Chinese soldiers still manage to hack through their protective armor.
The dadao ratio was 1:1 and 1:2 because it was northern chinese militias using it. Southern Chinese are shorter and have smaller arm length so they cant get that ratio.
3:03 We all know that situation where your playing basketball with the boys and have the need to pull your Chinese war sword out of your shorts pocket to cut the ball into two pieces
Ah the glory days of Cold Steel. I always liked them because, for all their antics and dramatic show, they actually went out and used their products, and did the crazy stuff I'd never do to my own tools.
In World War 2 this sword was used by the Chinese army against the Japanese and the katana in close range combat and was known to be so effective that it could break katanas in half and was also used for decapitation.
During the Second Sino-Japanese War, Chinese soldiers were often issued the war sword or dadao for close quarter combat. The blade was larger, broader and thicker and was heavy enough to maximise a killing blow with just one strike. Chinese martial artists taught simple steps and techniques to inexperience soldiers how to use the swords effective and took only a few weeks to master. In the Chinese military, personal of all ranks from senior officers to common soldiers were often armed with swords unlike the Japanse. In the Japanese military, only officers carried swords as they served as badge of rank. However most of the swords carried by Japanese officers were not katanas but military sabers that took the form of a katana. These sabers were known as shinguntos and were mass-produced. Only a handful were genuine katanas forged by master swordsmiths and they were most likely family heirlooms. Japanese soldiers only armed with bayonets for close quarter combat. The Chinese had the edge in close quarter combat and their swords were able to cut a man in half with just one strike. Even rifles were easily cut in half with just one strike. The Chinese war sword was able to inflict psycological fear in the hearts and mind of the Japanese.
I have been using this sword for about 9 years now almost every day in combat. I've cut hands, legs, heads, you name it. It is extremely durable and cuts like a blade forged on the hardest anvils of hell. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about fighting evil.
@Maurice Haynes To be honest, I was a bit of a weeb when I wrote this comment originally, haha. Still though, I'm no expert but I think those two characters just mean "Great sword"? T'would seem like a better idea to just call it a "chinese greatsword" or something, idk. Through and through, my comment was pretty pedantic to begin with.
The Dadao is the most common secondary weapon for the Chinese army of all factions during the second world war, it is widely, and rightfully, feared by the Japanese as it can decapitate a soldiers head of with ease and is extremely lethal in CQB and urban settings. Many battles were won because of this sword, due to it's high efficiency, strength and ease of operation. It can stab, slash and chop easily through humans as demonstrated and is too heavy to be parried with with the mass produced Japanese officer katana that is obviously of lower quality than professionally made katana. There are even accounts of such a Dadao cutting through enemy rifles during melee combat, would be interesting to see someone test that out. A similar thing happened in the European theater, with the Soviets using sharpened E-tools against the Nazis and achieve similar physical and psychological trauma against the Nazis. Thank you CSKnives for this video.
The same thing happened when Cuban rebels fought for their independence against the Spanish crown. The Cubans armed themselves with farm tools, most notably the Latin machete which they would sharpen and modify to be as sharp and strong as possible for combat. Historians say the Cubans would easily chop a Spanish soldier's legs, arms, or head off with a swing of their machetes, and they were so effective that the Spanish even reported back to the crown that they didn't know the Cubans were armed with such "powerful and devastating weapons". There was even a rumor of one Cuban hacking through a Spanish rifle with a machete, but that rumor was never proven.
This weapon gave the imperial japanese army their first humiliation at xifengkou. The IJA which defeated the imperial Russians were defeated for the first time.

@@overlord8780 WWII did actually see an insurgence these modernly obsolete weapons. Japan implemented western modernization with rifle bayonets and issued officers with new, western style sabers (which they were insufficiently trained in using). The Dadao devastated against bayonets in close quarters and when facing officers armed with essentially "display" swords... well... I feel bad for those Japanese officers feeling like sitting ducks. +csknives I would be happy to up load some. I am just commenting on your technique. Shouldn't you use the proper technique for the sword or knife being used.
+csknives with very sloppy technique. I have purchased a few of your products and was very disappointed with them. I love seeing a video of one grade of blade being used to sell a far inferior blade.
ok I think it shows there level of professionalism that they have put up with this so long while trying to give a confirming answer of quality on the product and skills of the presenters also I'm sure as hell not risking angering Lynn. I enjoy being in one piece.......
When ole boy simultaneously begins slicing through two pigs in one swing of the sword, I couldn’t think of what it would do to human flesh. This sword will slice right through you, holly shit.
I love how there's still this one trainee from Cold Shit Knives in the comment section who tries to defend this low quality waste of steel that they're trying to sell. And how he calls everybody a 'troll' who calls out their bullshit knives/swords. Compare your blades to the superior ones from other companies and then shut your company down. Not only are your products garbage but also your reactions to critisism are.
You've been ripping off people for 30 years now? Congratulations. The steel you use on most of your product is garbage, you obviously don't know what proper heat treatment is, your knives are delivered blunt most of the time and your costumer service sucks too. Now please tell me about how wrong I am about that and how CSknives are the best thing in the world. Lel.
Any sharp sword can do what you guys do. I made a wooden sword that cut through a pig. Does this thing cut through chainmail or plate armor? That would be awesome.
***** My point exactly. I was exaggerating when I said cut through plate armor, but my point was that you guys are showing yourselves swinging swords like a hurricane and only cutting through flesh and soft materials. Any sharp object can do that. I've seen you throw swords at chainmail and smash it with a war hammer, but that's normal. I'm a HEMA practitioner. I know what is normal for melee weapons. War hammers and heavy head weapons smashing plate and mail armor is normal. You wanna show yourselves to be above and beyond, Have this beast cut through mail armor. I think it could with the right technique. You have martial artist on set. Let them use it. Prove the weapon to be better than any regular machete you can buy at home depot.
***** I have. Unfortunately, it broke when I tried trusting into a wall that I thought was drywall. I'll make another and upload. This sword is claimed to be a cutting beast, but I don't see it cutting anything that any regular sharp object can do, especially the way you guys are using it. You swing like you're trying to decapitate an Olympian God, yet you are hitting a slab of meat. I saw you're sword breaker video, but you didn't even break a sword. It looked more like a javelin commercial. Consider my suggestions and show us something that will impress the audience not just with visual stunts, but mechanical feats.
RanndomUndead Not the way they were using it. And no, historical texts and relics show that most Asian empires possessed metal plate armor around the same time or a little later than European and when this weapon was used.

Nothing clumsy or awkward about the sword: true! But there sure is something clumsy and awkward about that host..
He still looks clumsy and awkward while swinging that sword though. It was mostly intended to be a joke though. But then again, it is one of them jokes were you can sence a hint of truth within it.
Look at the end of the video you can see a face on the pigs neck if you look closely
CSknives is taking perfectly reasonable comments away from this post...
LONELYcheeseBOX I was about to comment that. You beat me to it :D
I hear they cut just like a bat out of hell
Its not bigger than your upper arm
Never expect Beavis and Butthead to do a reaction to Lynn Thompson. HAHAHA
In future episodes of Beavis and Butthead, What if Beavis chops Buzzcut's hands off with a Chinese War Sword?
The katana is a good for killing. but this sword is the true battle sword.
you would think that someone who makes swords and knives you would know how to use them.
+csknives I am not insinuating, I am flat out saying you are.
+csknives bunch of virgins right here
ok I think it shows there level of professionalism that they have put up with this so long while trying to give a confirming answer of quality on the product and skills of the presenters
also I'm sure as hell not risking angering Lynn. I enjoy being in one piece.......
"Uhuhuhuh. He's a disgrace to the family."
Beavis and Butthead featured you awesome brought me to a good channel too
When ole boy simultaneously begins slicing through two pigs in one swing of the sword, I couldn’t think of what it would do to human flesh. This sword will slice right through you, holly shit.
What's with the shirt/tie combo that come as a kit
You lied! I couldn't find that outfit when I looked it up. :(

The way they cut and then just stand there looking at the camera will haunt me for as long as I live
YOU GOT FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCKED UP!
Cool
You've been ripping off people for 30 years now? Congratulations.
The steel you use on most of your product is garbage, you obviously don't know what proper heat treatment is, your knives are delivered blunt most of the time and your costumer service sucks too.
Now please tell me about how wrong I am about that and how CSknives are the best thing in the world. Lel.
So salty. Lel
+Afghan Azizi Steal is the act of theft/robbery. Steel is the metal, the thing you are talking about. No negativity here, I'm just letting you know.
imagine them making attack on titan swords like this strong
Tevatron044 Well considering a chinese war sword would generally come into contact with flesh/paper armor, this was a rather accurate test
RanndomUndead Not the way they were using it. And no, historical texts and relics show that most Asian empires possessed metal plate armor around the same time or a little later than European and when this weapon was used.
Tevatron044 They posessed it yes, but it was not a dominant material
