I had this same problem on my Honda Pilot a few years back and found a video showing an alternative to replacing the whole $100 blower resistor module was to replace an $0.80 thermistor inside the module. This gave the idea that it was probably just a temperature sensitive component once again inside the module. I took it apart and found a power MOSFET with the part number P14155 from STI Electronics. So I de-soldered it from the board and replaced it with a new one ($3 plus shipping) from DigiKey. Sure enough that did the trick!

Great Video. My 2014 F150 Plati has same issue. Used all OEM parts for resistor, blower motor, Bussman 40A vinyl fuse, and relay and harness is good. Blower stuck on high. Upon removing the blower motor, there was a 1’’ cylinder piece of plastic inside the fan scroll rolling around. Stuck phone camera in there and took pics, but can not see or feel where this piece broke off. When I feel inside where the BM connnects, there is a plastic half moon shape door with 2 pivot points - this rotates about 60-90 degrees to allow airflow. The broken piece has hole/fitting with notches….I am think it is a pivot point for this fan switch speed selector actuator- . Gonna search and come back with deets on what I find.

It’s from the recirculating door above the blower motor. The stepper motor attaches to that piece and sheers it off. There is a video on TH-cam that shows how to replace it without removing the entire dash.

I just replaced the MAP sensor on my 2013 F150 FX4 3.5L V6 Twinturbo, and in doing so, I disconnected the negative battery terminal to do the swap. When i hooked everything back up again and turned on the engine, the air was blowing full power, even though the power was off to the climate control. This wasn't an issue right before I did the MAP swap and battery disconnect. I tried disconnecting the negative terminal again for 12 minutes to see if it would reset, but it didn't work. The first search I did online led me to this video. Would it be best to replace the blower motor speed controller in this situation? I'm thinking the battery disconnect somehow scrambled the control module. I believe the AC was on when I turned off my truck after coming home with the new MAP.

This is a pulse width modulated device. There are as you can see 4 wires, they are power, ground, control and then the lead from the blower motor, which this module will short to ground. There is a power transistor that the control panel mounted in the center of the dash is turning on and off quickly to run the motor. This is why the heat sink on the back, that transistor gets HOT.
I'm dealing with this in my Navigator right now. When the car is running and the AC system is on, changing the temp will change the blower speed. But if I turn off the system, the silly thing goes into full speed ahead. So I ordered a real cheap one from Amazon that will be here tomorrow along with a new relay, just in case that is the issue. For 37 bucks, it's a quick way to check the system.
