I’m the biggest Nintendo fan out there (legit obsessed, my room is like a Nintendo museum) so I am SO happy with what Universal is accomplishing with this property. The ride looks so great and state of the art with its tech, so I do not mind that it isn’t a high speed thrill ride. People have to keep in mind this is a very family oriented property. That being said Hollywoods version is undeniably small, and for good reason it’s land locked ofc. I think I decided I’m gonna wait for 2025s version at epic universe, as it’s gonna be bigger than both USJ and USH versions, and have the DK expansion ready with the park.
As a massive Nintendo fan myself, it’s been my dream to see a park based around my favorite franchise (aside from the temporary PokéPark), and now that it’s come true I HAVE to visit no matter what.
Now this makes me so excited for epic universe. Since it will be my home park. You both are doing so great on this channel and Sarah is an amazing person Taylor. Make sure you keep her as long as you can.
It's way more impressive that you went during a regular park day, rather than a special preview. Everyone is sick of vloggers posting envy vids boasting about their special access. We know the actual experience will be nothing like what is depicted in those vids.
We were invited to the media preview, but we were in Australia when it was going on so we just went on a normal operating day once we were back. It was definitely very busy.
Seeing Super Nintendo World is already making me excited for epic universe. Imagine this level of theming and technology for every single land in the park.
SNW is extremely well detailed, but it has some serious capacity issues. One ride with a practical capacity around 1,200 per hour and one restaurant that only has a couple hundred seats is not nearly enough for a property with the popularity of Nintendo, and it shows. I just visited for the first time since opening this past week, and Mario Kart was a consistent 2+ hour wait on a day where nothing else ever reached 30 minutes. Games were also on average 30-45 minute waits each, so it wound up taking about three quarters of the day to play all the games, ride Mario Kart once, and eat at Toadstool. I like the land quite a bit, but honestly, if you're not an uber Nintendo fan and aren't planning to come out to So Cal for other reasons, it's probably better to wait a couple years for the larger Epic Universe version. As for the alarm incident, that is a major design flaw that I'm surprised Universal overlooked. Because of it's construction, California classifies the entire area as a single building, which means if an unplanned fire alarm goes off anywhere inside for any reason the entire thing must be evacuated until an all clear is given. It's been happening approximately weekly since previews began and is a major inconvenience, but fortunately the area usually reopens in an hour or two.
Love the cool changing paintings with Tiny Huge Island and Bob omb Battlefield, also does Koopa Road play in the castle as that is one of the best soundtracks of any game
I can’t believe you guys stopped to chat at the camera before going back in. When everyone is out, it’s like rope drop 2.0 and a chance to be first in line! No stopping until you’re in the queue! Haha
I wonder if they evac the whole area when the ride is down due to just how many people are in the queue, and will then subsequently fill up the very small area due to the evac?
Was it by chance just a super busy day? The times I've been and most people I know have had super efficient and fun experiences, could spend an hour-ish and get on the ride before ordering food, or spend all day doing the games and things. Sounds like you guys had some crazy lines which is unfortunate! Hopefully you can get back another time where it's slower!
I went on Feb 20 and 21 and it was over a 2 hour wait at all times. And I never got into Toadstool Cafe. They were giving out physical tickets with return times. And it seems like only those who were in the land before 10am got those tickets.
It looks so cool! It looks so detailed, and amazing! It's literally a dream come true for me, as I loved the Mario games (Even the original mario games, even thought I was born like 45 years after it was released). This is really going to be one of my, or my, favorite part of Epic Universe! I love how it looks like Super Mario 3D World, and it really gives me memories when I would play super mario 3D world with my family all the way back in like 2013 or 2014
Yeah this whole thing looks really impressive, it really makes you think of just how much more expansive the variants at Epic Universe and Osaka will be once fully complete. As for the screens to make it look like theres depth, I can almost guarantee that was Nintendo's idea, that basically lines up perfectly with the technology used on the Nintendo 3DS, a handheld console they made from 2011 to 2019 with glass free 3D for the games. Of course this is still kinda the opening rush for super Nintendo world so crowds are likely a fair bit higher than they will be say a year from now when the land will have been more established.
Maybe, 3d screens are essentially the standard for all screens on major rides for the last 15 years or so. Usually you wear glasses though, for most of them at least. The newer ones sometimes don't require it. Uses projection. These are something new though I believe so maybe Nintendo did push them to use it. Or it just made sense.
looks amazing !! the hundreds of people wreak it a bit for me though. it feels very costro. I feel like its one of those things that look amazing but I will probs never get to do.
Wow, so glad we went Tuesday, not Monday. Nintendo world is a people eating cash cow. And the queue for the ride is very enjoyable. Except for the lines to play the games, it was great.
Oh cool, they used the 3DS' 3D screen tech on their queue screens! At least I think that's what's going on with those screens )Taylor: the 3DS screen hurts my eyes, too, so it's not just you). Still a really cool and immersive piece of tech! Glad you guys had fun!
Nintendo has been a huge part of my life, so I'm really happy with how good the theming and set design is in this land. That said, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed that they made Mario Kart into a slow-moving dark ride, because if there is anything Mario Kart is known for, it's fast-paced chaotic action, and I felt like either a dueling launched coaster or Test Track style ride would have been a much better fit.
Come back when Fast And Furious: Hollywood Drift is a reality! The rumors say it will be a new Intamin coaster that starts in the upper lot, drops to the lower lot, and has a spinning “drifting” effect, most likely some type of multi dimension coaster. It is said to replace Animal Actors and the Special Effects Show
@@CoasterStudios Thank you! I have watched other videos and they had to virtual queue to enter the land with almost shoulder to shoulder crowding. Great work.
i went just today, it’s so cool and mario kart is a solid attraction but atm it’s such a hassle to do everything, will def be better later on I feel but its a phenomenal land and I can’t say I wasn’t a little teary eyed when I walked in the fact I had to evacuate was a major pain in the ass tho I must’ve waited in the mk line 3 times to get on it, it’s a huge hassle for no reason rn for a ride that is not worth more than a 30-45 minute wait think the upcoming orlando version and the already existing japan version will be so much better because of more rides and stuff to do because this version of the land is stupid overcrowded because of its small size, still tho absolutely love how it looks and mario kart was a solid addition to the park
The detail looks stunning and having played quite a lot of Mario games I would love to visit, my one criticism and its my opinion is none of the unique characters appear that are either cool or funny like Shroobs, Popple, Fawful, Koopa Bros, Tubba Blubba, Petey Piranha, Magikoopa. And Bowser is not played as a goofy yet threating character which bowser always has the best lines.
After having finally visited SNW myself, it's a giant big mixed bag that's mostly negative. Mario Kart wasn't very good. Like you guys stated, It's an ordeal, but I was left feeling unfulfilled when it was over (especially after waiting two and a half hours). It moves at a crawl, and I felt a lot of the AR figures were getting in the way of the experience of the practical effects. It feels like you need multiple rides to even get a grasp of what's happening, but with these wait times that's not realistic (or worth it) The Toadstool Cafe was just OK, but if you don't like mushrooms there is very little without them. The mini games are very simplistic and not all that interesting. The power-up bands are a giant scam, overpriced and used in the most simplistic way. Worst of all is the crowding of the area and capacity of Mario Kart. On a positive note (and in my opinion it's a major positive) the land looks BEAUTIFUL. When you walk through the pipe for the first time it really is special. It's a shame, the work done on the land is top notch, but it needed more space, another ride or two, and Mario kart needed another couple rounds of design thought. When the awe of how great everything looks wears off, you are left with a tiny land, a mediocre ride that you have to wait hours to ride, and some forgettable minigames linked to some ridiculously overpriced bands.
It looks like a giant easy bake oven. I think if I asked someone with severe anger issues to illustrate what they imagined a headache would look like, they would draw something very similar to this.
Ok it insane just how detailed this place is. The true definition of walking into a different world. I didn't realize it was THIS good.
Probably gonna take a day at every land at epic universe once it opens cuz of how long just a smaller super Nintendo World seems to take
The aesthetic is insane. It looks really small and, as a result, a little overcrowded... also the queue times! I'd still wanna visit at some point 😅
It's only been open two weeks it's going to be crowded for a bit.
@@newenglandcoastershots remains to be seen I guess
it’s going to be a lot bigger and better in epic universe and japan as their areas are a lot bigger with a whole new coaster
Is Universal out Disneying Disney? That’s spectacular!

The 3D screens are Looking Glass. It's a stack of OLED panels with lenticular lenses. Very cool.

Same, I’m waiting to go to SNW at Epic universe.
Hollywood is rumored to ALSO get a donkey kong expansion. Also, Epic universe SNW is basically going to be the same one as the one in Japan.

from what I gathered, this is a pretty standard day as of recently for Universal Hollywood.

The difference between the main queue and the single rider line means the Mario Kart ride is like the game: it's sadder when done alone.
Yessss, I get this! Mario Kart is soooo much better played with friends.

or even a go cart ride
how about that can of modelo in the queue ??
I can't speak for this land specifically, but at UO they have carts that sell beer in various spots even in the queue for Hogwarts Express.
One of the few amusment parks I’d actually want to go to that’s more focused on the experience rather than rides

the 3d screens in the queue is the same technology used in the 3DS i believe!
They have some similarities but they are different. They are 3d light field displays and do not need face tracking like new 3ds did.
I got on the ride 7 times on opening day.
