In a surprising move, TODAY Universal Orlando CONFIRMED Rip Ride Rockit is closing in early September! This means you all still have time left to experience the attraction if you haven't already! Go get your rides in whenever you book that trip to Epic Universe!
taylor and sarah, are you planning on going to Epic Universe right when it opens or wait a little? I don't know the strategy with it, also because the good news is that hopefully there will be less crowds at the other two parks
All these closures got me thinking of when you finally decide to go through your fridge and throw out all the expired crap that’s been piling up. With sadly the one steak dinner leftover in the back you forgot about (Ka 😅)
Riding this while listening to Sandstorm and having its beat drop on the drop was such a vibe. I just hope we get something like an Intamin mega coaster
Agreed, the USO Resort has more than enough launch coasters, hell Stardust Racers could have been a good addition if it wasn't a launch coaster. IMO it's a bad addition to the USO Resort because it's redundant with the two other multi-launch coasters with inversions elsehwere. Another option would be a Vertical Lift coaster like Fahrenheit at Hersheypark, Intamin actually built a second one of those in China in 2023 by the name of Whale Breaking the Sky Roller Coaster, so it's not a dead model actually.
@@Sonderax Baron 1898 and Alpengiest would have something to say about that. "Lift hills are hard to theme" is an excuse to justify adding more launch coasters in a resort that doesn't need more of them.
I never got on it. The one time I was in line, it broke down and I was under the building in the queue. It was too hot, and I can always listen to my favorite song while driving haha.
Only rock song is black parade and it’s the actual version of it so the song doesn’t get to the faster parts before the ride ends. You just listen to the slow, my father took me to the city intro lol
you're not alone. that vertical hill scared the ever holy jebus out of me, and then I eventually got on it, and by the bottom of the main drop I was whooping and hollering with joy.
@@MonkeynamedTheo my issue was the lap bars as well, but more so when I rode I was rather large. thanks to the test seats out in front of the ride I was able to just barely make it on.
I used to love this ride in its opening years. Such a smooth and intense ride experience. I rode it a few weeks ago after a few years and it was one of the roughest and bumpiest coasters I’ve ever ridden. Granted it was third row but wow that soured my opinion on the ride. I’m just going to act like that last ride didn’t happen.
I went on Rip Ride Rockit in May 2024 during the Gradventure school field trip at night! It was very fun and even though it was a little rough, I still enjoyed it a bit! I’m sad that it’s going bye bye, but I can kinda see why tho
I’m glad I got my last ride in last week, but I can’t say I’ll be super sad to see this gone. I kinda hope they stick with the music theme so I could listen to Free Bird while riding a roller coaster again.
Yeah I said the same, but it’s intamin that’s most likely to build whatever’s next due to that contract. If the striker model came out sooner before universal started planning rip ride rockets replacement I would have bet that would have been a actual option for them. And would have considered it, but since voultron only opens this year and since Mack is already building 2 rides at epic universal it would probably out of the choices
As someone who opened rocket, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was plagued with issues from the start, one issue being if it became "too windy" (a slight breeze.) it would be shut down for hours. When we had to send it on test rides, it needed sandbags to give it weight to send it thru the track. One empty cart for stuck on the main loop one day.
Was a memorable one for its ability to ramp up from kiddie / family coaster to something more intense. Music package made a huge difference. Really loved that ride, It was a close 2nd with Mummy being 1st for that park.
Got to ride rip ride rockit in December during an orlando informer event and I can't say I would ever wait in a long line for this ride, the music feature is very cool and I'd love to see My Chemical Romance return if they keep the music aspect, glad I got the credit, not sad to see it go
I rode it most recently this past spring and I still think it’s very fun and underrated. Not incredible but it’s pure fun and I’m gonna miss it, but I’m sure what they replace it with will be better.
Its suuper shakey and rattley but honestly still pretty fun. Definitely agree that whatever they replace it with will be worth it. They're on a roll over there these days and Universal desperately needs a new headlining attraction right now.
Yeah I don’t know about the timing, hhn will definitely be a challenging thing to get around. If they do start soon, they I wouldn’t be surprised if all the houses in that area move towards the front over near the minions entry for the queue lines at least and somehow loop around to the actual start of the houses back near the soundstages, or near the jimmy falon bathroom and they build a temporary roof underneath the track so they can continue construction without disruption. And as for the announcement of whatever is replacing it, they’ll pull a universal and won’t say anything till the new ride is almost finished, like they did with velisocoaster
Bitter Sweet Moment, this ride led me to love Evanescence- Bring Me to Life. I found my favourite band in the world because of this ride. Moments cherished.
Good Rip Ride RIDDANCE to this one. I rode this a decade ago and my back still hasnt forgiven me. I hope they replace it with a Fast n Furious coaster for no other reason than to guarantee the closure of Supercharged
Assuming they are allowed to build high enough taking Tallest/Fastest in Orlando would be a huge W for Universal/Intamin. And considering 3R is already a lightly themed out and back and with Epic Universe about to absolutely blow profits into the stratosphere having some raw power laying around would be refreshing... But if I was betting I'd say multi launch with a dark ride section some switch tracks and Vin Diesel saying "Family" as the ride concludes. Toss in a swing launch and keep the change lol
its probably been said but the song menu was replaced by a keypad where you could input codes to choose a specific song from a larger list. there are over 1000 songs total (if i recall correctly), so just wanted to let yall know!!
I don't doubt the new coaster will be a much smoother ride experience, but I'm going to miss the music element... Sandstorm night rides are one of the best things at Universal
Went on this ride about 2 years ago. I found it extremely uncomfortable, like head bashing...which was a surprise. Something about the restraints, I think.
While your evidence makes Intamin very likely as the manufacturer to replace the ride, I could also see a Mack Stryker as an option. It's capable of a vertical launch as well and would allow for a similar iconic structure, the 4 x 4 cars are somewhat reminiscent of Rip Ride Rockit's shorter trains, and it can have a pretty high and consistent throughput, as Voltron has proven.
I’ve said this before I’ll say it again ! Universal needs to do a back to the future coaster . Fast and furious coaster should be a bttf coaster , delorian style cars , launches could be time tunnels and it would be a great way to bring bttf back into the park ! Bring it back !!!
I feel like RRR gets a bad rap. It's not my favorite coaster in the world but I ride it every time I'm at Universal. I love riding it at night and using the secret menu. Then again I'm really excited to see what Universal will do, and who they're working with
This was the first non-inverting loop I had ever seen when it opened in 2009 and I was excited to ride this! The soundtrack, lift, drop and non-inverting loop were awesome! Then the ride was either mind rattlingly bad or just plain boring.
I loved Rockit! It’s sad that they didn’t retrack it like Hulk. Still miss dueling dragons. They need to add rides to these parks. I would be glad to see Minions and Simpsons get replaced.
Always really enjoyed this coaster, far better than the B&M snooze version, this felt far more unique. However, I do feel like a getsular infinity coaster would make for a great replacement. Loosing the on-board audio is a removal of an experience. Yes it will be nice to have less breaks and either more hangtime or airtime. But if they are going for something entirely different than I gotta say I'd rather them just ask maurer to retrack the entire ride. It only became rough over time for the same reasons the literal B&M beloved Hulk coaster did (which was less rough and just more in need of an overhaul and they went as ALL OUT as possible). Tons of ridership, and also far less built to withstand so much of it. Always liked the comfort of the X-cars I admit, but the drop not even being a vertical one was always kind of wierd to me. The part going down off and essentially through the building and back to behind the entrance area to me was the funnest outside the drop and dive loop though.
The amount of rides closing this year is actually insane. I stopped caring about Fakcons Flight along time ago even though I thought it was the most insane thing ever but this us getting out of hand. Not going to lie, this might be the worst year of the coaster community I have been in if you include all the rides opening or not.
@user-pl5ds8iz6q Yes I know that they are replacing with better rides but I don't think thar means it's Wirth it actually. Fir some rides, sure, better ride us bitter, but the unique older rides are a dying breed on a lot if them and the newer rides will just be all over the place eventually and not unique and different. Ka is actually one of the ones I cared the least about that got removed this year even if it was one of the best.
@CoasterStudios -- I believe (after watching and doing alotttt of research) that the replacement ride is going to be themed to Ghostbusters, its a bit of stretch, but I think on reddit a user posted a picture of new track spotted at the intamin factory which appears to be light blue, but I couldn't find any projects upcoming that have a light blue color scheme. So we would just have to wait and see what happens but I think the light blue track is gonna be for Rip Ride rocket's replacement
I personally highly doubt they’re fabricating track for it already. The current ride is still standing and isn’t closing for 9 more months. The blue track is likely for something else.
Last time I went I finally gained up the courage to go on NEVER AGAIN I couldn’t even focus on the scariness of the ride because I was being beaten and thrown around I had a throbbing migraine neck and back pain AND I was so excited to pick a song just to see there were only like 4 songs I didn’t as much of a icon that ride was I’m happy to hear that it’s going to
I knew it was going to leave at some point, but its still kind of bittersweet. Despite the hate it gets, it really wasn't the bad of a ride to me, I still had fun! Not to say it was smooth (far from it) but I enjoyed it!
i literally love this ride and im so sad to see it go (probably beacuse i have nostalgia for it) 😭i honestly dont see why they would do the vertical launch coasters because do you really need a multi-launch inverting coaster at each on of your parks??? honestly i think a massive hot racer could fit well since they dont have a single rail coaster and it could fit into a slim plot of land. also a launched inverted coaster from intamin would be cool like the ones in europe. even though i know why rrr is closing im still sad to see it go. (crocodile rock was my fav song to listen to on rrr)
I am someone who is sad abt this ride closing bc I love it. I want my family and I to get our last rides in before it closes. All of us loved it. Depending on what the new ride is I may or may not still be upset with them replacing the ride. I think there will always be part of me that misses the ride even if the new one is so much more fun to me. If it’s not nearly as fun then I’ll be mad.
They reduced the song selections on the main menu but the secret menu appears to be unaffected. Honestly that's the only reason I ride it anymore, because I like to try out different songs on it.
I managed to go thete for the first time last summer and I'm glad i did as when i went it was my 3rd most favourite ride the entire trip after hulk and velocicoaster I'm so sad that it's closing
I for one am sad to see it go, I actually really enjoyed riding it. It wasn't a top tier ride by any means but it was my favorite at this park to just ride over and over again.
For me it was an underrated ride especially in the back row where it had some wicked airtime. Sure it was a little janky but I never found it actually painful in any way. I feel lucky I got to ride it last year finally on my US coaster trip. RIP, RRR.
@@CoasterStudiosDang it now I have to hop on to Planet Coaster 2, find the exact dimensions of the area around Rip Ride Rocket, and spend hours randomly making a random roller coaster. Whee
While parks are in the spirit of closing coasters can all SLC’s and regular boomerangs get removed (exempt great nor’easter and the boomerangs with lap bars)
Im not sad for this ride going away at all. The last ride on it was so painful for me and not much actual thrill. It really doesnt help you have 3 of the best coasters in america right next door making yhe medicire status of rip ride even more aparent. Im excited for whatever comes in because the main universal stufios park really needs some more high quality atractions since it got the worst when it csme to the universal screen era.
It was an insane ride and much more fun than Hollywood Dream in my opinion, it is a bit janky but it’s not that rough and the weird layout gives it charm. It’s also quite intense with some high-G moments and insane airtime as well.
I rode it for the first time this summer, and I loved it ! I even had it above velocicoaster until I got actual good afternoon rides on this one. That being said, Rockit still ended up being a top 5 in Florida as well as global top 15 ! On the one hand, this was a mistake from Universal to ever build and keep this problematic coaster around as it kept costing them more and more money. Infamous break runs do hurt the pacing, and the whole track and trains just shake around during the entire experience. On the other hand, I believe it's a legit thrill coaster ! I loved the airtime on the NIL and every break run, especially in the front with some nice wiggle room. I also enjoyed the two great intense helices, as well as the whip you get on the NIL. Darude Sandstorm was just cherry on top. Even though Rockit wasn't perfect, I'm very sad to see it closing, and its replacement has to be worthy of such a big sacrifice. Let's put the RIP in Hollywood rip ride rockit 🙏

5:43 putting it into the universe...... Ghost busters!
I managed to go thete for the first time last summer and I'm glad i did as when i went it was my 3rd most favourite ride the entire trip after hulk and velocicoaster I'm so sad that it's closing
Aren't they expanding the Hagrid's barn?
I for one am sad to see it go, I actually really enjoyed riding it. It wasn't a top tier ride by any means but it was my favorite at this park to just ride over and over again.
I love this ride with all of my heart, and Ill be sad when it leaves.
For me it was an underrated ride especially in the back row where it had some wicked airtime. Sure it was a little janky but I never found it actually painful in any way. I feel lucky I got to ride it last year finally on my US coaster trip. RIP, RRR.
I know it’s very unlikely, but imagine a Gerstlauer Eurofighter themed to a pigeon’s flight.
a pigeon theme is very on brand for NYC
Nvm I watched like 3 more seconds and their Ghostbusters idea is so much better
@@CoasterStudiosDang it now I have to hop on to Planet Coaster 2, find the exact dimensions of the area around Rip Ride Rocket, and spend hours randomly making a random roller coaster.
Whee
While parks are in the spirit of closing coasters can all SLC’s and regular boomerangs get removed (exempt great nor’easter and the boomerangs with lap bars)
Not gonna lie... id be bummed if they do an east coast fast and furious ride. Let us have something here in so cal!
Noooooooooo 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 I have that rollercoaster on my Rollercoasters Bucket List that I want to ride
well you have till sept 2025 to get that dream achieved
On my last trip to universal I was finally brave enough to ride and got one ride and I am not going to miss it to be honest
Just watched el toro Ryan’s and now was recommended this and yeah..I’m not shocked
Im going in late Jan. I hope I get to ride it
I think you should be able to. We'll see if the park makes an announcement
Rode it in 2010 and it was excellent. Rode again in 2018 and it was rough.
Could you please do more coaster parody videos?
dang!!! what a shame, even though i heard it wasn’t a great ride, i would’ve loved to ride it due to its sheer iconography!
It was an insane ride and much more fun than Hollywood Dream in my opinion, it is a bit janky but it’s not that rough and the weird layout gives it charm. It’s also quite intense with some high-G moments and insane airtime as well.
I could see it’s closing weekend being the last weekend of February or first weekend of March
