Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in Kenova, West Virginia, I like them, they're awesome, @1960gambit, Scott, thank you very much and have a nice day.
That last coal train, when the driver really gives her all she’s got….boy that’s awesome :-) Just occasionally you’re in the right place to record that and it’s breathtaking! Thanks! Tony
Thank you for the spectacular video today, Scott! I thoroughly enjoyed it. You had great trains and commentary, as usual, so no surprise there. I love coal trains, but over the last two days, I've seen enough to last for a while. Kenova is a very cool 😎 place to film, and I always love the videos you and JT shoot there. Today is the same. Have a great week and we'll chat later. 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lean on the everlasting arms... I absolutely love that hymn!! As a kid, I'll always remember my dad whistling and singing 'Leaning on the everlasting arms' as he'd leave the house for work at 5:30 (after gettting me up & fed breakfast for school). Hed walk off our hill to meet his ride. Dad was a Class A Transmission Lineman for Appalachian Power Company for 38 yrs. Also a WWII combat veteran with the US Army Air Force in the South Pacific Campaign. Mom & Dad married in 1942 a month before he shipped out to boot camp. Had 7 kids ( I'm the baby) and raised us all in a Blue Collar Christian home. We all worked our own way through college, did well and now all retired. You brought back a lot of fond memories for me with that beautiful hymn...and a tear or two!!
Very cool story Michael! It was folks like your Dad that made our country great. I appreciate the service and sacrifices that were made by countless millions like him to keep our freedoms. I have family members that have passed on that did similar things too, and I`m sure they are rolling over in their graves now seeing what our great country is turning into. Our "leaders" on both sides of the aisle should be ashamed for what they are doing to America.
they probably had to take it slow over the diamonds in case the heat shifted something enough to misalign it and cause a slip off derail!! the track gang up here says on uber hot days this welded rail that's in sections will expand and add between 2-1/2 and 5 inches to the length of the quarter mile sections so they can't lay new track on days like that and they will not go near jointed rail unless absolutely necessary because of possible bolt breakage and the shrapnel thrown from it! i've personally seen where a bolt broke and thrown through the wall of a garage wall 50 feet or so away from the tracks so you know that bitch had some force behind it! and the standard load out for a coal car is 90 tons of coal and 20 tons for the car Scott so a 110 cars worth is a load!!!
@@1960gambit oh yeah fact i had a guy who worked track gangs down in southwest Georgia show me pictures of where the heat had pressed the ends of jointed rail together so hard that the tie plate had exploded and the one piece of rail was thrown almost clean off of the roadbed into the weeds besides the track (it looked a good 4 to 6 foot!!) and the other end was thrown the other direction and sitting on top or it's sibling rail almost over to the other tracks cross tie edge!!
Sorry 8m late with comment Scott it was a hectic day in my household! great video as always coal trains rule! Beautiful filming of the train ridingboff into the sunset at the end, loved that, what a day you all had. ❤😊👍
I did a little math. Each hopper empty weighs an average of 24 tons, (some of the all steel cars are 30+ tons. I watched one the old Conrail hoppers roll by. 67,600 LT WT) and each carrying approx.110+ tons. If it's a 111 car drag, that amounts to right at 15,000 tons .. pulled by 2 units up front, one being an SD70 ❤ .. that's pretty amazing, quite impressive, to me .. one of the reasons we love trains so much. I wish I had the space to model this area. The 6000+ ft. bridge, the loop, the yard and coal load-out nearby.. CSX and NS sharing trackage .. what's not to love about this area if you're a foamer. Thanks much for sharing a couple great days of railfanning Kenova with us, Scott.👍
His channel will likely stay up forever. I don`t think TH-cam pulls them down due to inaction. Stobes videos are still up and he has been gone for years.
Very true and by the USA tearing down coal plants, we are having zero effect on "global warming" because those 2 countries are bringing new coal fired power plants online almost on a weekly basis. Our government is run by idiots!
Good made video, mr 1960 Gambit. Thanks for the link you send yesterday over the bridge in Kenova WV. On this video the coal train of NS. 111 loaded cars and 2 locomotives how many torque have that diesel engines? Thx for this topvideo in Kenova WV 🚆🚆💪👍💪👍💪👍👌🚆🚆. Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.

@1960gambit agreed...both aisles only care about agendas, length of stay in office and their accumulated wealth!!
Great job!! Love those coal trains...😁
Thank you very much, Magic!
Awesome train 🚆 video, Scott. I enjoyed it a lot. 😊

When metal expands it can do some crazy stuff, no doubt about it!

You`re very welcome Kenneth. If you go to Google Earth you can really see what all is going on here. That loadout on the Ohio River is huge!
Great spot. Would be a cool scene in fall time. 😊❤
It is!

@@1960gambit good cuz it will hurt me if they removed it
A lot of NS coal goes north to Lake Erie at the NS coal dock.
I have heard that. I guess they export it to India or China?
Neat videos of the coal dock. I also love watching videos of the old Huletts in Cleveland.
Was that Jawtooth without a Hawaiian Shirt 😜😜😜?
It sure was! Lol
Would you be willing to share the significance of Tom and the FedEx Containers? I have no clue😜😜😜👍
Tom is one of my subscribers that came to Glendale from Columbus to meet me one night. He works for Fed Ex loading those containers on trains.
Scott, there were some container cars that had what looked like posts sticking up. What were those? Thanks. 🙂🙂
Those are the older well cars. They have posts that the container interlocks with for shipping on a train.
@@1960gambit Thanks, Scott. 🙂🙂🙂
Great video! When is it usually busy down there?
Mornings and about 4 PM on.
@1960gambit cool thanks Scott!
coal is cool
Roughly 20% of US electricity is produced from coal! Roughly 73% of China and 80% of India!
Very true and by the USA tearing down coal plants, we are having zero effect on "global warming" because those 2 countries are bringing new coal fired power plants online almost on a weekly basis. Our government is run by idiots!
It's really about cost. Natural gas is cheaper, cleaner and much more efficient. Thanks to fracking we've got huge amounts of gas.
Coal was King. Not now.
