Thank you for uploading this outstanding video of some of the trains that you saw on 23 March 2023 in Ashland, Kentucky and Kenova, West Virginia, Jaw Tooth! The Norfolk Southern trains going over the huge trestle across the Ohio River between South Point, Ohio and Kenova, West Virginia were impressive. The two CSX coal trains passing near the Ohio River were great catches.
Another cool bridge shot, with a DPU as an added bonus !! 👍 Train two with 2 DPU"S in the middle... and the Hi-rail rolling by !! Live Action Son !! 👍 Nice loooooooooooong shot of the coal train !! 👍 Awesome Awesome VID !! 👍👍👍

Spring is starting to stir and the first train has plenty of anhydrous ammonia for the farmers plus lots of new ties for the track gang. NS then runs a 2 Miler above it then Springtime fertilizer with three old Rock Island cars plus the coal. Whew! That's live action serious tonnage

At least you didn't get covered in coal dust like that one time😂 with a nice long shot down the length of the trestle you get a nice idea of the size of the trains. Thanks for the video
That's a great place to catch trains. I'm lucky, I live close to the Ohio river in Ashland and can sit on our balcony and watch trains on both the CSX mainline and the Norfolk Southern mainline. I've seen as many as 50 trains in a 24 hour period between the 2 lines but usually it's around 40 trains a day between the two.
@@waltersims493 By the middle of May I won't be able to see the trains on the CSX line because of the tree foliage but I will be able to see Norfolk Southern across the river.

About 3 years ago CP had a combined empty coal and grain return. The locomotives were 2x1x0, 1036 axles. It was too big to fit into the yard, it had to get broken into 2 separate trains before it went into the yard.
140+ cars on that first train. What would really be cool is if you caught a twofer in Kenova. Get train on the bridge as another one was passing it underneath. I didn't count the cars on that combo train but it took five minutes, give or take about thirty seconds, to pass.
Very impressive video with a good variety of trains at two great locations and another amazing structure. Nothing wrong with that... Nice job on this one J.T. !!!
The first train, a mixed freight had a fallen flag box car - C & NW near the end, the last box car in the train, doors closed, wonder what it was carrying. And one of the gondola cars in another train was a Rock Island car.

Thats a long one at Kenova, West Virginia, that dpu @ 9'00", Norfolk Southern #3603 produces that familiar sound with doppler effect, love it 😀 💚⏰🚦👍👌

I counted 195 cars on the CSX grain/coal train including not one but two former Rock Island grain hoppers!!!

@@michianarailfan I was wrong on the axles it was 1,038 axles which after taking off the 18 for the 3 locomotives was 256 cars (1,020÷4)

I think NS or CSX better inspect that pier holding up the span crossing the CSX tracks, as it looks like she is sinking real bad on one side.
