Something has to be said about the director/cameraman on this video. I'll bet he is a pro. Knows how to frame a shot, pan properly, does not shake, and does not ruin a very good video with useless music. Mr O. Winston Link would have enjoyed this tri from Roanoke to Kenova.

Just watched this again and one of the things I like is the number of different locations you got to.
The Montgomery Tunnel is located between Roanoke , Va and Christiansburg ,Va about 18 miles west of Roanoke,
Ty Marvin.
Excellent work. You have a great sense for what makes a good video. Great editing.
Thank you. :-)

What is that structure over the tracks near the Vickor, VA crossing?
I suspect the building you mean is one of the old coaling towers built by Norfolk & Western for their steam locos back in the day.
@@PhilThomasTrains Thank you! That is exactly what it is... www.pinterest.com/pin/232146555763153542/
Would have liked to see Pritchard/Fort Gay WV included
Traffic levels were pretty low during our visit, but I would love to return and fill in the gaps.
LOVE IT
Awesome Catches! Where near Roanoke is this tunnel? 32:50
Thumbs up! Greetings from Poland :)
The tunnel is actually in Welch WV, which is about a 3 hour drive from Roanoke VA..
@@PhilThomasTrains Thank You! :)
@@lhsboyproductions3446 If you mean the double tunnel, see the comment from Marvin Moore. It's not far east of Christiansburg.
What are those old kinds of signals called? And why are most of them being replaced?
I think they are old Norfolk & Western Signals. They are being replaced with a form of cab signalling.
"CPLs" - Color Position Lights. With the advent of Positive Train Control, these old signals had to be replaced.
Do freight trains run through Princeton or is it coal only?
I understand that all types of freight use this corridor.
The Virginian was taken out of service between Princeton and Mullens a few years back. The only loads east of Princeton are sand and scrap metal.
Very nice
Kenova not Kenovo
Got that fixed - thanks for the heads up. :-)
