I feel like Viv needs to hire someone to just manage her online accounts because Viv keeps taking bait and dragging out drama herself, she has done nothing to help her situation, instead feeding into the trolls and lumping them with real criticism.

People wouldn’t stop even if all her shows, merch and posts stopped. People would swarm the fact that she left and use her stopping as proof of her being terrible in one way or another, or just dig up old trash to throw at her again. She literally can’t win, and honestly if I was in her shoes and under so much stress from all the constant hatred and abuse, I’d lash out and defend myself and my ideals publicly too. The fact that she’s getting punished for trying to speak her mind, explain anything or express frustration is so messed up..

@table2.0 I agree that people wouldn't stop immediately but I do think it will chill out after awhile of her not responding because at that point it's just beating a dead horse. It won't be as trendy to hate on Vivziepop if she stops responding because they don't really have much to go off of anymore sure there will be more episodes of helluva boss but again as I said it'll be beating a dead horse and people eventually get tired of that.

What’s would the comic be about?

    • @Crisjola
      @Crisjola 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +112

      This.
      So much this.
I’m an aspiring writer (so technically only whatever magazine ((Fantasy & Science Fiction, Asimov, etc)) or publishing house ((Kindle to Penguin were I to get so lucky)) would need to know my legal name for tax purposes, and I could hide behind a pen-name) and watching people go after Viv is… honestly scary. (I was also doxed when under age so _that_ was fun, and we all know how much US authorities are caring 0% about Swatting.)
I have a habit of going back and researching things and since I’m apart of the Ace community, watching an _incredibly small_ group of Aros attempting to accuse (and then bully) Viv into having Alastor be Aro/Ace becuase they wanted the representation (which as an Ace person knowing the controversy most Aros face and are often accused of being unfeeling sociopaths, I have _zero_ idea why they picked the serial killer cannibal as “good representation” when that is everything they have spent years trying to dismantle. But it was a small group, as I said, and very much stan behavior). Do I care that the Radio Demon is Aro/Ace? No. Do I think it’s _terrible_ PR that will be blamed on Viv for “demonizing Aromantic people”? Yes.
I think, as one creative to another, OP, the best way to handle essentially anything like this is to write _your_ story, stick to your vision, literally do not feed the trolls (I personally don’t think the gag caption for Look My Way is anything more than a “wink-wink-nudge-nudge”-much like Mammon’s “because women just ain’t funny” with text popping up saying “written by Vivienne Medrano” instantly after the line) and just don’t respond. If you do choose to respond, I think (as much as I have a wildly different memory of the books since I was young, and personally hated the ending because it felt out of nowhere) the way K.A. Applegate handled people not liking her ending is much more useful: and it boiled down to “if you don’t like my ending/story of the Animorphs, you are free to write your own story, and I encourage that creativity.”
Nuxanor is absolutely correct: Viv needs to _stop_ replying to every little thing. And imho it’s not that she “can’t take criticism” it’s that the Hatedom is exceptionally vicious. (I got a tiny, nothing, fan account caught in the crossfire and wow, you would think I ate babies simply because I had the most lukewarm takes and wasn’t hating on Viv.)
I feel like those of us who are aspiring comic writers, novelists, and etc. should have some way to come together. Sure, people will accuse us of just defending “our own” (Viv’s peers have run smack into that) but even if it’s just in private to help counter the negativity and remind each other that we’re not what the _literal_ haters say we are, I think that’s important. Especially because the hatedom feels _real_ powerful behind a screen.
I dunno if you’ve been on Tumblr and interacted with the Hellaverse, but I had to _leave_ the “fandom” because it was a bunch of people going on the attack for character design, changes, plot beats, and etc, while acting like they could write, create, and stick with a project that “would be more original and not as lazy” while doing exactly none of that.
If you go the full Indie route and don’t find an Indie publisher for your comic work, I’d realty recommend not engaging with the hate, and addressing the actual _constructive_ criticism only.
Like the people who say “Hazbin is too red” who clearly don’t recognize an artistic choice, and probably haven’t studied art history and just spout whatever comes out if their mouth that they think they can use to bully someone. And it makes the Hatedom seem _soooo_ jealous and petty.

@@Crisjola Its kinda worse for Viv considering the route she’s gone. She wants to make a series where each episode takes a metric fuck ton of effort to get out. People have criticized each episode of HB for not doing a Millie backstory but that isnt just one episodes job, its whatever episode they want it to be. Its good for series critique but not individual episodes. She can’t just add scenes last minute because of someone saying it needs more of something it wasn’t setting out to do. People are reviewing this like it’s a weekly show but it isn’t. Its amazing to look at the episodes that pop up and see how fast time flies when each episode appears on youtube. Makes me feel old.
Also im sorry to hear that. When I was teenage i was hacked and lost 150 bucks AND a girl accused me of trying to break her up so I could have sex with her and she deliberately told all of my friends to destroy every social relationship I had (thankfully I had texts and everyone quickly ceased contact with her) that one event has made me extremely cynical and depressed lol. Can’t imagine what she must face constantly from people who feel she’s been awful too.
Also hot take I think Hazbin and Helluva have had some of the best queer representation in years on alot of things. Now I don’t openly look for it but when I do see it it feels very forced for cash or not too well done, or too focused on that part alone. In Hellubaboss the characters are gay AND people, im super engaged in Stolitz, Ozzie is precious, and im super curious what they’ll do for Vaggie. To me I think a problem is when gay or non straight characters are on a series i think there is an obsession with trying to make them feel perfect and it kinda makes it feel cheap. Tuca’s relationship in Tuca and Bertie was extremely complex and got me to adore a character I found kinda annoying (im introvert don’t flame me >~~

I feel like people put way too much weight on blocking on twitter. Blocking someone just means you don't care to see their posts or interact with them, it's not some massive insult or invitation to fight, as a matter of fact it's a good way to avoid fighting because you're ignoring someone who bothers you rather than engaging with them. I've blocked tons of people for bad takes, shipping ships I don't care for, posting content I'm not interested in, etc.; it's just a way to curate your online experience, and a far healthier way of dealing with people you don't want to interact with than picking fights or trying to get other people to stop posting things you don't like.

Blocking is the better response, so people shouldn't come after Vivzie for blocking if they want her to stop responding to hate (blocking some stranger on the internet is not an extreme response to them criticizing your life's work, it's a healthy one)

The problem with blocking in general is when it encourages people to continue holding grudges like camels. It's clear that people just want to live in the past. This is without getting into how Twitter and GameFuqs also involves the blocked person being unable to view the blocking person's posts, which invites confused discussions as well. Saying that you’re not aloud to make trans people and their bits sexy is just so… infantilizing. As a trans person, I honestly find it really progressive to show a trans woman showing off her private part.
A lot of times trans people are put in pressure of “faking it” just because they’re not entirely disgusted by their body, showing a trans person being confident with their body is honestly inspiring to me.

You're never going to please everyone, especially on a topic as complex as the trans argument is currently.
Ex: women's lib. A constant argument is whether sexually liberated women are a detriment or are women being strong and sexually free.
Now add about ten times the level of complication to that societally and you begin to approach the depth of the trans argument.

Well, this shit is controversial even inside the trans community, so I'm not surprised, and it has everything to do with miscommunication.
The main problem is, people with gender dysphoria will get dysphoric feelings if they were to "show their bulge" while presenting as a woman, and in fact many get offended by this kind of stuff as they see it as being actually transphobic.
But for people who do not have gender dysphoria but who identify themselves as trans, they do not understand this at all, and to the contrary, many of them, specially those who identify as "non-binary" will celebrate things that "go against the binary".
In my honest opinion, one of the problems with this is that people with GD and those who do not have GD, using the same trans label is problematic, because their reasoning for their transition is completely different.

Neither of them want bottom surgery. They want their respective top surgeries, but not bottom surgeries. Sally May could easily be implied to either be pre-bottom or just not wanting bottom. Let her be sexy, bulge or not.
Edit: Before anybody says anything, I'm not saying that all trans folk don't want the gender-affirming surgeries. What I AM saying is that not EVERY trans person wants to get every surgery to affirm their gender. My friends are just two examples. It is valid to be trans and still not want to get surgeries. The biggest problem with criticism nowadays is that people use criticism as a way to enforce their standards/morals on artists and creative people instead of it being a tool to actually point to actual problems in the industry. Art (and yes writing also counts as art) always lies in the eye of the beholder, so criticism of art can be rarely to never be objective. What is beautiful to someone is ugly to someone else. What is funny is just boring and unfunny to another person.
So i kinda support artists not taking sh*t anymore from people who think they can dictate their own vision of something onto the artists work. It's just rude and unnecessary. Personally i find abstract art really weird and ugly but i won't go into an art gallery for abstract art and tell every person and artist there that the stuff they like to look at is so ugly and they should start to draw real things.
The best advice i can give to people who don't like a specific thing, just leave it alone. Don't engage with it. Why do you need to change something you don't enjoy and bother/harass other people over it? Let people have nice things and search something for yourself you can enjoy.

And i feel like it is the same with this case here. Changing the show would probably upset as many people as it would make some other folks happy. So in that case why would or should Viv do that? Makes no sense right? Not from a personal standpoint cause she likes it how the show is and not from a business standpoint cause really she will get hate and "criticism" either way. So best to stay true to what their personal vision is.

While it's not possible to cater to all audiences, changing the show's direction even slightly (i.e. leaving out the gratuitous toy jokes from the mafia ep) would appeal to a much larger audience at very little cost.
At least, even if she doesn't actually take the criticism it's unprofessional and not a good look to be responding to every take.

Ok. My problem with Helluva boss isn't the swearing, the s*x jokes or whatever. My problem is they really seem to of lost sight of what the show was (at the very least advertised) to be. Like it's supposed to be about this unique company based in hell and the service it provides and the trouble it gets the crew in. It REALLY feels like the writers for the show are writing about what characters or scenarios interest them at the time. We haven't seen anything related to the company in ages (and the last time we did was in Happy Campers which is easily argued to be their weakest episode ever), we keep seeing immediate FULL character development for side catalyst characters. The greatest sin for me tho and is the reason I stopped supporting vivzy all together was Stolas getting badly injured to the point of having to be rushed to the hospital......We see an unclear ending as to what is going to happen and spend the next few episodes on side quests and missions with side characters......that is all fine to me.....but the next thing I know when I'm worried about what's going on with Stolas....I see he's just fine.....actually he's MORE than fine, it looks and sounds like he's been up and walking for awhile up till he met with Ozzie.........like wtf. You can't make me worry about a SEEMINGLY IMPORTANT plot point to just be like "Oh....no that wasn't important at all."

The majority of "criticisms" are about the humor, which is fine if you don't like it, but it is not a valid criticism since humor is subjective and is not made for everyone, like I don't like Family Guy because of its humor, I'm not going to say bad because it surely isn't, but I just don't like humor.
And valid criticisms of the series are hidden by thousands of tweets saying the same thing.

All this hatred and criticism that Viv gets in social media actually reminds me of one of Octavia lines in Helluva Boss. "Why does he hate her more than he loves me?" "Why do the yahoos love hating Viv more than loving the things they actually like?" She is not obligated to serve to everyone's tastes, and she sure as hell better not to. The other thing I want to brought up is that Viv doesn't seem to know how to react to hate and criticism in social media. I hate myself for doing this, but I found few tips how to deal with it all:
    1. Remind yourself that comments from a hater are a reflection of them and aren't really about you. People who feel good about themselves don’t need to put others down.
    2. Understand criticism can be a sign of pain. People sometimes lash out because they have other life struggles. Negative comments may have nothing to do with you.
Yes I took those from Google search, but they really sound like something Viv should consider.
    What about criticism?
"A critic should be taught to criticize a work of art without making any reference to the personality of the author."
    - Oscar Wilde
"Everybody wants to be a critic: a critic without the actual accolades to be a critic."
    - Bobby Lashley
Couldn't have said it better myself. Ok I've been pretentious enough for one day with these quotes.

She always has to respond to the negativity of Twitter about her projects, which makes her come off as somebody who can't handle criticism. However, if she doesn't, she will just get more hate for not responding to the haters. It always seems their is just a group of people on Twitter who just genuinely hate her and her work, with every breathe they take just being all the way negative on her. Twitter does prove that people have no lives and people take a problem with everything nowadays.

Gonna be honest, I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt but I feel this is where she has crossed a line. Before she always managed to skirt the line by either being purely deflective or just being passive aggressive, this time however she actively insulted someone's parody AFTER the maker of the parody had kindly gone the diplomacy route and apologized for if they had hurt anyone. They only ever reuploaded it once they were reassured it was a harmless joke.
Viv then proceeds to actively insult the creator of the video after the reupload after the creator had shown nothing but kindness.
And it honestly bothers me now how much we are willing to excuse Viv's unhealthy behavior on twitter just because she creates a product that we enjoy.
I get it, we all love the helluva-verse and want to see it succeed and be a massive win not just for indie animation, but to also win the war against mainstream shitheads like Disney.
But if we truly want indie animation to thrive, these creators also need to know that they need to be better, that whether they like it or not they have great responsibilities that could potentially change the future of the industry as we know it.
Vivziepop, despite her impressive accomplishments and being one of (if not the) biggest catalysts for the renaissance is not acting the part of a leader. She has thin skin, deflects criticism, and doesn't seem to think through things.
And how she reacted to this parody has her coming off as just being a relatively unpleasant person to be around if you just so slightly disagree with her on something.
I honestly can't blame "the haters" for thinking she's an asshole with how she acts online. Honestly this feels like Thomas Astruc and CRWBY allover again (If you know, you know).
We can't make excuses for her anymore, she needs to be better.

I mean I love and respect Vivzie as an artist but goddamn this woman cannot stay out of drama at all.
Also, I have to agree that the excessive swearing and sex jokes withing Helluva gets a bit too much at times and I say that as someone who has a very lewd sense of humor. Like for example, the whole running dildo gag with Moxxie and his dad really killed the mood for some of the more darker and interesting parts of the episode and that was honestly really frustrating for me. Also, if you are swearing just for the sake of swearing or being lewd for those same reasons, then that is not good writing. Its annoying. Thats why I am not a fan of Seth Rogan - I feel like he swears just because he thinks its cool to swear like some edgy middle schooler. Its childish and bad writing.
If you're going to include lewd or foul language, make sure you put effort into the writing to make it work. Overall I still think Helluva Boss is a really good show and I am very excited for Hazbin Hotel, but the excessive swearing and sex jokes tend to hurt it more than help it - also Vivzie needs to learn to take a joke.

@aq_ua to do that youd need to take away the hate and the hurtful words disguised as "cristism". Some are valid cirstisms but most arent imo. Also ive said this before its hard to ignore hurtful things online because they are right in your face and also a person like viv cant ignore it because whether or not she responds its deemed bad. Countless years of getting bullied for the work you do, yes, this is a side effect of said things. Also ive been harrassed and bullied just for liking vivs work. Its not a viv issue its the "haters" issue. Nobody said you had to like their work. Its fine if you dont. Dont harass and bully people though. You really wanna hate? Avoid the work. Avoid the person. Its much easier to avoid then to shit on a person. If your want to make a cristism make it a valid point not just something about what you dont like. If you want to make a cristism, make its actually helpful. Art and animation and the work viv does is very difficult and plus viv and their team is human, what you say can and will hurt them. Tbh I probably haven't been in the fandom long enough to say anything on the situation and definitely don't use Twitter as much as I used to, but things can be done from both parties to make this community and fandom better and supported in the right way. Whilst Viv might not be able to help replying to troll message and replies and such, it shows (like in the Millie thread) that she's passionate about the show and wants it to succeed, and that can mean criticism isn't taken lightly if you're the creator. However, if you don't like the show because of a specific demographic it's targeted to or the language it uses, the merch it sells, the animation or anything like that then there's millions of other shows that people can watch to entertain themselves, or if you'd still like to support a creator, I'm pretty sure constructive and helpful criticism would be taken much better than just calling merch "disgusting" or anything like that, I don't understand why shows have to be put into the spotlight like this now and be critisized in evey little way, whilst it might help with publicity and expressing an opinion, the only person you're hurting at the end of it all is yourself by setting up for an argument

I used to be a fan of viz but she's really mean and stuck up she blocked me on twitter in 2022 bc I said in my own personal tweet "I don't really don't mind the need for redesigns but I don't have alot of hope for alastors new va because its hard to find the perfect voice for characters from an older time period." I knew that I didn't want to support or give my money towards her projects. Why should I support someone who doesn't even respect her own fans ?
However, as an artist myself I do have alot to say about the show.
I find viz to be insanely lazy with:
1 the bodies are always the same, if not for niffy, carmilla and mimzy they all blend together.
2 The voice acting isn't good especially for Valentino, Katy killjoy, Adam and rosie.
3 The angels are underwhelming and just look like pastel demons (wich would be fine if not for the fact viz has sinner designs in heaven. If their hell forms are based on their sins in life why wouldn't they be look like normal people in heaven? Also why does Adam look like every other demon? I'm so sick of every demon looking like an imp or furry.
4 adult animation doesn't/SHOULDN'T= constant swearing. It's lazy and it comes off as what a kid thinks "Adult animation" means. Cussing and dirty jokes don't equal maturity.
5 alot of things about the world building doesn't make sense. Adam ate the fruit and swears too why isn't he in hell? And why isn't sir pentious in his human form in heaven ? Why is he still a snake ?
Viz is an incredibly lazy and entitled person, when you really think about HB/HBH isn't special or unique. Alot of stories are set in hell and have some "hellborn royal" marysue oc. Viz is a great example of getting a lucky break for something subpar.

    • @covensys
      @covensys 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Some of what you say makes sense to me, but theres a few things i disagree with or can say is the point of the show
i think the voice acting bit isn't accurate. Alex brightman did a fantastic job, i love Rosie's voice, and Brandon Rogers cameoing in HH is a funny addition.
I think the point of the show is to say that all human souls are essentially the same thing, no matter where they get sent, so it makes sense to me that they wouldn't be dramatic changes in how they look.
Something I've noticed is that every character has a different capacity for swearing. Alastor hardly ever swore, while Valentino swore like a sailor. I think people need to realize that, just like in real life, some people swear more than others. I swear consistently (when it wouldn't be audible to kids), while my fiancé only swears occasionally. That's just how real life is, and obviously hell is a place where you're gonna hear it more often.
If you haven't realized the whole point of the show is that the system for who gets into heaven is corrupt, then there's not much hope for your media literacy. It shouldn't take a genius to figure that one out. Obviously Adam shouldn't have gone to heaven, but he is the product of nepotism. No matter how bad he was, the system worked in his favor. That's another thing that happens in real life. People get things they haven't earned or shouldn't be allowed to get simply because they are who they are. Rich people or famous people often don't have to face justice for their crimes.

I've slowly felt bad about all the controversies coming up about her it truly was like watching my childhood hero as flawed like me and also being a bit disappointing then when I first heard of her. I myself am studying creative writing and learning how to handle criticism because even if Vivian isn't as "perfect" as I once believed her I wish to learn from her mistakes.
Ps. Genshin impact if Viziepop wrote is so funny to me as that's my fave game.

Since I first ever saw Viv's work I felt she had an incredibly organic and natural expression and focus on underlying LGBT themes and I think all the characters are creative and fantastic. A lot of depth, tons of drama and tragedy and really authentic and personal feelings. People who say she can't write can keep their criticisms, but I've always found the show incredibly relatable and warming.

It's hell. People are gonna swear, whether they like it or not. If they don't like it, don't watch. Don't expect a creator to change something they worked a long time on because you don't like something that isn't even all that bad.

I don't think Viv is a bad person and I respect her work, but it really does feel like she gets too hurt by criticism. I understand she's definitely more emotional right now because of all the hate, but a lot of the hate keeps on going because she keeps on feeding into it, and the haters love to see her respond. She's not shrieking her head off or anything but you can definitely tell she is very stressed and bothered.
"If you don't like the core of our show then don't watch it" feels like it can go the other way around as well. If you don't like the core of their criticism then don't listen to it. People are capable of feeling like a show is bad and expressing them in a polite manner, and I say this as someone who, like Viv, is an animator, artist, and a writer. A lot of the criticism she has replied to has been unjustified and rude yes (that whole merch thread was nonsensical), but throughout this video, there were a lot of comments that were expressed *politely* but she was angered by the idea of any kind of retort.
She says she accepts criticism when presented in "a good way", but then when that happens she still responds defensively. Again, I understand she's running high on a lot of stress at the moment, but it's really not good for her. It would honestly be a thousand times more beneficial for her shows and her own mental health if she not only stopped responding, but also maybe got off of social media for a while. I think it would be really good for her, and it feels like she needs to learn that the things other people say about her work don't matter at all as long as she loves it.

    "It's a complicated situation"
...Not really? It's just a case of people who really love to mock someone, and then cry when they get talked back. Alongside an issue where a creator tries SO HARD to own someone.
I do not agree nor consider to be a solution to just "not respond", that's essentially asking creators to shut the fuck up and that once you reach a certain level of popularity, you DESERVE to be mocked and can't do anything about it because "you look like punching down". Personally, if a creator destroys their image for responding to people who think "I don't like it, therefore it's bad" is good criticism, then i don't think the creator had an image to begin with.
And even now using the release of season 1 in hindsight, it's clear that Twitter is not a reliable source since appearently "If Hell is forever, heaven must be a lie" is too complicated to understand for Twitter, yet for the sake of the argument, the best that could have happened was for Amazon Prime to be the page handling the promotion for the show LOL

Some may say Viv can't take critisism, but i will ask: Does she even need any?
Like, yeah, sometimes critisism is a really good and useful thing, but i feel like its overrated. What most of you people forget about is that artists are not little babies who always need someones help, especially if they're someone like Vivziepop, in other words, now newbies at all. Artists, most of the time, are able to notice their mistakes over the time, and any kind of critique can be triggering btw, and its not like we all ask for it desperatly. I dont try to speak for all the artists in the world but for those who can understand me and support my opinion, because i just know forced critisism is something not many people really like. And i said critisism is overrated bc people think it will fix all of problems in someones art. Spoiler: No, it will not! I ask for critisism sometimes, but i can notice some problems in my art without other people. And im pretty sure im not alone. Besides, its often for many such " critics " to just point at parts of an artists style and say its bad, while it was intended to be there. Anyways, i know we are not talking about style and art exactly, but i put this as example. Not everyone wants your critisism, its important to listen to other people but not always. And no, critisism is not the only way to progress in any kind of art, grow up.

The issue with viv is i feel like she needs to stop responding to so much criticism on Twitter. Sometimes she reply’s to situations extremely hurt when they aren’t criticising her but light jokes made by actual fans of the show.
The digital circus parody video is hilarious in my opinion, it is quite spot on imo but didn’t need to turn into a massive ’drama’ I didn’t see it as hate but a light joke at the writing style of helluva which admittedly sometimes over does a lot of its sex jokes. I see the circus video as a lighthearted joke about the difference in writing, I get being defensive over your art (even I am) but viv keeps putting herself in drama over silly little things and the tweet of her saying how if you can’t appreciate her humour then she feels bad for you really left a bad taste in my mouth, criticism is how you grow as an artist, it’s how you improve a skill further.
Admitting it’s not everyone’s style is fine but acting like a child on twitter over it definitely doesn’t make your show seem desirable to watch to new comers, viv always responding to petty drama on twitter is my biggest issue with viv and it just makes me wish she had some kind of management to take care of her account because she CONSTANTLY responds to petty drama and always ends up looking rather childish and undesirable to new comers, even some of her own audience members and or possible brands who’d want to work with her.
She needs to learn not every mean tweet needs a response, not every snide remark commands her attention. It’s why people do it, they know they’ll get a big response from her. She needs to either step away from twitter or learn to ignore a lot of the tweets she likes responding too.
It sucks seeing something you’ve worked hard on get shat on but I feel like viv responds to the wrong people, and in a very wrong way. Blocking on twitter shouldn’t hold this massive weight but best thing she can do if it effects her so much is to simply block and move along. She comes off as very unprofessional on twitter and it definitely harms her in the long run. Some random twitter user doesn’t have a reputation to look after but viv very much does now as a leading indie animation figure and multiple show runner. I can see companies turning away from working with viv if her behaviour doesn’t mature in future.

I feel like she does listen to criticism and that's the biggest flaw of Helluva Boss. She does what fans want, fans don't know the whole plot and at the end makes the show a little disconnected. Like in Happy Campers, before it, Millie was never treated like she was less than Moxxie. It's fine to have a character that's already developed in a show, she has already grown.
And the swearing and anti climatic jokes, coming mostly from Blitz, always felt like a "I don't know how to deal with serious shit so I joke about everything to kill the bad vibe" to me. And since he's growing, he's losing that. Like in the last episode when the emotional moment between Fizz and Ozzie wasn't interrupted by Blitz (even tho he was there the whole time).

I genuinely think vivzie is justified to be offended when someone straight up tells her that her show is shit and should be rewritten. Yes vivzie has fucked up with some people genuinely trying to help her with criticism, but the way some people are "criticizing" her work is like looking a chef right in the eye and spitting in their food instead of just not eating it and moving on.

  • @HeartCloud
    @HeartCloud 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Experiencing the drama about Vivzie not handling criticism argument was really exhausting to behold because I was just minding my own business retweeting the lovely fanart of the Hazbin Hotel characters. Just seeing more Vivzie drama is so ridiculous that she needs to learn and ignore what is going on Twitter. Viv doesn't deserve this unjustified hate all because of her shows have a heavy adult audience theme put onto it, but I honestly feel like she needs to stop posting on Twitter whenever a discourse about her takes place or whenever her haters attack her for no reason other than attention. I respect Vivzie and her work on Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, but she needs to learn to ignore discourse like this that has happened recently.
The situation revolving around the "TADC if it was written by the writers of Helluva Boss" in my opinion was really distasteful. The video really wasn't funny and it felt more insulting for how Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel is more than just strings of adult humor and swearing. I watched the Hazbin Hotel pilot more than enough times to even lose count and I see it as a very unique concept that would become the official series we'll be getting in January of 2024 and it was more than just a compilation of swearing and adult humor. The "joke" video on Twitter really should've stayed down because I don't blame Viv for getting upset about the situation. And how other tweets started to follow the same trend is so disgusting that it is honestly getting repetitive and grating to see. If the original tweet was phrased more differently without intentional implications to poke fun at Vivzie and her shows, then I wouldn't mind the video being just a joke video, but since the video was put back up all because of popularity is honestly disgusting to think about it.
So that's my thoughts on all this ridiculous Vivziepop drama. Viv should really ignore all these discourses on Twitter and the whole "X show if it is written by Vivziepop" trend was really not that funny to begin with and I just found them more insulting than anything for how both of her shows is more than just compilations of swearing and adult humor.

That's just how people talk outside of school and work and PG-13 movies and places like TikTok and TH-cam where you can't even say "die" without getting banned or demonetized. The near-death of R-rated movies and conservative pushes to remove all mature content from the internet to "protect the children", forcing everyone to self-censor even for an intended adult audience with asinine euphemisms like "unalive" and "r-word" has really warped people's perceptions of what normal speech is.

Seems to me that a lot of people -- especially when a creator is known to be active on social media -- can't distance themselves between critiquing a product and criticising a person. There's a huge difference between "I think Hazbin Hotel's character designs are too homogenous" and "Vivzie only knows how to draw one body type".
That said, artists also need to realize that making themselves constantly available (and constantly active) on social media is part of the problem. Not the singular root, but it's much harder to separate a product from its creator when you can go bother the creator at any time and know that they'll see what you're saying. Boundaries need to be built again.
