  • You never think it will happen to you, but this evil system is running rampant. These days, traffickers are getting bolder as it is easy to hide behind masks and all of us are wearing them. In this vide, I describe in detail my run in with these heinous people. It looks different for everyone, but I hope that you can get some good advice from my story.

I was dumb enough to go to the beach by myself because the sound of the waves comfort me and I was going through alot. I was staying literally right across from the beach. A guy came up to me and he was creeping me out when I was walking back to my room, he kept trying to get me in his car and I kept walking he drove in front of me and hopped out the car and tried to get me in the car he was saying he wanted me to ride with him to get his friend. A random granny saw me in distress walked up and was like "what's taking you so long every one is looking for you" she saved me that day I know it 💛. Women should be able to go somewhere alone and still feel safe its sad.

I was gonna say... it's not "dumb" to go to the beach by yourself. But always be aware of your surroundings, which you were! And thank goodness that granny was looking out for you too.

That's the conversation I've had with my girls; when out never move around alone and always have your friends back. And the drink one; never put your cup down and leave then come back to it. Now I know why our mother didn't like us going over school friends homes if they didn't know the parents.

I fell into doing this as a coping mechanism for high stress but im done thank god. Beware of pills or like she said, not drinking probably saved her- but beware of pills like meds they will put you on that take away your intuition- i had an experience that im surprised i got out of. Ive always been against those pills. My story, not here though. This shit is real and I believe young girls need to hear this scary shit more in depth than just being told what to do or not to do. If you are in a latin country, many people will tell you their life the min the know you, show you pictures and videos of their kids and they are not seeking attention or looking to manipulate you, it is just the culture. I am Caribbean, so I know is this way. I also said I am not like that, so it is not everyone in Latin culture. I am definitely latin american and definitely secretive. But most people in my country are totally the opposite. I actually get in fights with my grandma and mom because they talk to much about my life to other people and just over share all the time. I don't like it. But my mom is not doing it to manipulate anyone. It is just the way some people are in latin culture. As women, we have to learn from close calls. We also have to listen to the inner voice in certain situations that shout No!
When I was nineteen, I did the things that young people do. I went to parties and stayed out late at night. One night around midnight, I was waiting alone at a downtown Atlanta bus stop. I had just seen my boyfriend off on the late Greyhound bus back to his NC College. It was my time to catch my local bus home. This guy pulls up and asks if I needed a ride. I politely told him no, I am fine and I was good waiting on the bus. He pulled off and went around the block and came again to insist that I let him give me a ride home. I said no again. He pulled away and drove around the block only to return once again. I was alone after midnight and scared to death. He was visibly agitated because I wouldn't get in his car. He was still insisting that I ride with him when my bus pulled up. I was glad to jump on the bus.
About 30 mins later, I get off the bus only to find that he has followed my bus for several miles. I go immediately into survivor mode. I look around for lights in house windows, there were none. I turned to him and dug into my bag as if I had a weapon. I angrily asked him if he had lost his f ing mind and demanded to know if he was prepared to get his f ing brains blown out if he took one step out of his car. He quickly drove away. I had no gun, I only had bad language and a bluff.
That was my last late night in the streets.

@Roxx Bee Thank you for sharing your story with us. I had a similar elevator experience. I was like 15 and I was volunteering at the local Food bank for community service hours. I had just met with the coordinator lady and hopped in the elevator to go back to the ground floor where my mom was. There was this man in the elevator with a shirt unbuttoned like 4 buttons down from the top. (Seriously, is it still 1975?) As soon as I got in, I had a bad feeling. Anyway, he didn't say anything, he just looked at me in that kind of way. I was the only other person in the elevator so I decided to let him know I wasn't alone by making fake small talk. "Oh yeah, what a nice day. This food bank is great, but I hope my mom doesn't get mad waiting so long for me here. You know how moms hate waiting forever... blah blah blah" Guess what, he didn't say a word. As soon as the elevator opened, I almost ran to the parking lot. Thank God I made it!

He stayed staring for a few more seconds before the traffic behind him were honking at him to get it moving. As another hour passed, I was getting irritated at waiting for the bus, and part of me had wished I let him take me -- but another part of me had the instinct that I would've missed my exam altogether & I just needed to be more patient. That damn bus finally came, and to this day I look back at my resolute patience (which I still get complimented on to this day) and thank my mother for instilling it in me. I also thank my instincts, bc if you listen to them, they'll never let you down.

I almost got kidnapped in Oakland California. 20 years ago I moved from NYC out to California while in high school. When the kids in el’cerrito high school found out I was from NYC I was instantly popular. My junior year there in H.S. My stepmom told me to never leave campus during lunch break and stay in the lunch room only. I messed up that day and didn’t listen to her. I went outside the lunch room to sit on the football field bleachers and a woman walked up to me while I was sitting down eating my food. When I saw her walking towards me she looked like she was in her late 20’s. She began talking to me and told me she goes to the high school and was a senior. She told me she knows a modeling agency that would probably give me a contract. She gave me a flyer and an open cast call to go to that weekend, then she told me don’t tell anybody because there going to get in my way. My naive self didn’t doubt her and didn’t tell my family about the flyer. That Saturday afternoon I was getting ready to go to the “open call” and left for the BART train. I was running late and I missed the train that would take me to OAKLAND thank God I missed the train. I ended up going back home and asking me brother to drive me. Before we left he asked me for the flyer and when I handed it to him he started yelling at me saying who gave you this because the location he said was a STRIP CLUB where prostitution and pimps hang out. He said they pimp and drug girls there. When I returned to school on Monday a girl from my school went missing and that same girl that went missing was the girl sitting next to me that took the same flyer I was given. I don’t know if they found her.

Do not give out personal information. Make up a story about having to go meet a friend or family. Be aware of your surroundings. Do not wear anything in your ears while outside. That distracts you from your surroundings. Specially at night. Always know where your exits are. Think about how to approach scenarios. The world isn't always a safe place so protect yourself. Offering modeling jobs is one of the most common ways these people get under your defenses. If you have just met someone and they are telling you they will help you get modeling or acting jobs or a place to stay be wary. Most people are not so overly generous and helpful to strangers.

I remember a time when these 2 men that sounded Russian to me knocked on my door in the middle of the day during the summer. They claimed to be exchange students trying to pay their way through college by selling children's books. They handed me a brochure that looked completely legit. My girls were pretty young at the time and I am always cautious with any man being around them so I wouldn't allow the men to see them. They asked me how old my kids were and if they were in school (we lived near an elementary school). They kept trying to peek around me to see my kids. I got a very strange feeling and told them if I was interested I would contact them. They gave me a card that also looked legit. Literally hours later I saw an emergency alert come across the TV from the local news station. These men were going town to town in our area and targetting young moms with little girls. They were reported as known sex traffickers. I will never forget that day. Since then my husband and I have taught our girls to always be on alert. I watch every video I see pop up about what to look for. Thank you for posting this.

Anyone who does NOT have shady things planned for you and has a legitimate gig for you, will not have any problem with you requesting an escort/friend/security to come with you for you to be more comfortable, best if this person is a guy, unfortunately/obviously people do not respect women alone as they ought to. If they are totally welcoming of you bringing an unspecified friend of your choice along with you- it’s a good sign. In middle school, this old woman actually got me to assist her to her “home”. She acted as if she had just moved to CT, and that she had a daughter who went to my middle school. But I had only found out those details after I shared where I went. She said she knew the house was near but she was a bit lost. I told this black old lady that I would help her but what had me surprised when I realized I may just be murdered or sexually abused was when she said “Here we are! Why don’t you come and look at a picture of my daughter. I’ll tell her you helped me and since she’s new, she will have someone nice to associate with while at school”… I go up stairs into her home, which was a building, but immediately as I entered, this chick had sex movies on her tv. STACKED high. I didn’t see pictures of her daughter. She stood in front of the door and told me I should have a drink. I lost it in that house and she let me go but truly I was terrified and most of all surprised at how this woman had tricked Me. It was bad. My mom called me a stupid girl and her and my aunt laughed at me for even being tricked. As a mother today, I realized it was just a scared response to a very close call.

I think it’s because most people don’t think women can be predators too. There’s more male sex offenders than female ones. But they do exist. So people need to teach their kids to just be cautious of any adult. And you were just a kid. I probably would’ve done the same. Because we’re taught to respect our elders and that women are usually safer. Which is very wrong. That’s why traffickers sometimes use women to lure other young women. It gives them a false sense of safety. So whether you’re young or old, male or female. You should always be careful, also be aware of your surroundings.

P.S> "Fearless" is one of the best books to read written by a female cop on how to minimise the risks of being a target through proactive body language and key tips. She worked and studied rapists/killers and came back with the science behind the types of victims they pursue and what you can do about it. One of the best books my mother gave me as a 12year old as I used to run cross country in back suburbs of brissie on my own and was always so scared when it would be dusk and I was still ages from home. Her list: 1. Walk with purpose, head high and eyes looking around. 2. Always know your surroundings and if people approach or group of men cross the road to the other side without having to pass them physically or if a single person and you cannot cross, look them in the eye. 3. When you pass cars at night that appear like no-one is in there but you know there is, look down at the number plate and make it very obvious and look back straight into the front screen, if you can't cross road, look into the side windows as you pass by it makes you intimidating to them. 4. If in a dark parking lot and need to get to car, place keys between fingers and hold them tight as they can be used to defend yourself or wave around intimidatingly. 5. Never wear earpods at night in dark or dimly lit locations, hear all sounds and know your surrounds). 6. never walk with your head down or slumped shoulders, perpetrators always go for the "weakest link" just like a predator. 7. If you are grabbed from behind, lean back into them (take a step back, try and stand hard on their foot), slam your elbow in the guts and then bring the same arm's hand up to smack their adams apple (if it is a man). This is a technique for the everyday woman.

It’s mentally harder to fight off someone you know, but awareness of signals can help targets to more quickly recognise danger, even where it shouldn’t exist. Story time: so I applied for a job on INDEED and the job I applied for was a front desk position at a hotel downtown Brooklyn. I got a call from the “hiring manager” to come in for an interview. so while we were on the phone she said that the hotel is located in Manhattan not Brooklyn. I’m like well the job posting said Brooklyn why is it Manhattan now. She said they have more than opening.
So she goes on to tell me that they are a staffing company that provides staff for hotels. I asked her for the name of the company and wrote it down. So she then said yeah the hotel is on Wall Street and we serve a lot of rich men. I’m like what type of fucking hotel serves only men and from Wall Street? No tourists? No families? No women?
Then she says that she knows who to hire based on how they look. I’m like so fuck the whole resume huh. She asked me like 5 times how old I was. She was like you are 18 right? So she made a time for me to come in for the interview and we ended the call.
I googled the name of the staffing company and it doesn’t exist. I googled the address she gave me and it’s not connected to any staffing company. I did a phone reverse look up The number she called me from was her cells phone not a business phone.
I never went to the interview. I realized she was trying to prostitute me to wall street men. After I realized this I temporarily deleted my Facebook account because she had all my personal info and didn’t want her to put a face to my info.

This happens often in Walmart parking lots. Another story happened two years ago. I look a lot younger than I am. My friend and I went to get some groceries to do a catering event and we noticed a white van. It kept circling the parking lot. When we came out the store, there was a random woman trying to talk to us and kept following us. I told my friend listen, the white truck is coming towards us, let’s go back into the store or we have to talk really loud to get others to notice this lady is up to no good and so is that white truck. We literally started to get loud and told the lady we didn’t want to talk and had shxt to do so stop following us and ppl started to look our way… she quickly walked away and the van drove off quick!

As I walked around the store, I see him again, he says "Your hair is pretty", I say "Thank You", still not thinking anything of it. As I continue around the store, I see him again. Then at the check out, I am checking out, and see him again, this time he took my pic with his phone and I then see him send it to someone. Ok, so now I'm scared. Go out to my car, there is a flyer on my car, look around, no other cars have a flyer. Jump in my car and hauled ass. By the way I am 63 years old, not a young girl. At 22, I went to a nightclub (I don't go to nightclubs but a friend asked) two men try to grab me while I was chilling but my friend came up. At 25 several attempts actually because I lived alone. I hate to say it but trust no one but your inner voice (aka Holy Spirit), be confident and self-assured in your actions esp. in public, talk louder than normal when with strangers to discourage their efforts, make sure you're always aware of your surroundings, never leave a party alone with a man, stick with your female friends (if you come together, leave together), never leave your drink then come back to it (this is how people get drugged), never bring a man or female you just met over to your home (meet up instead), even be careful taking Uber or Lyft (never have them drop you off at your exact address AND do not talk too much), don't go jogging at night or early morning in secluded areas nor wear ear plugs while doing so...many of these things are part of the "girl code" that many young women have abandoned but they work. It may seem extreme but better safe than sorry!

I was walking my dog at a college campus that was empty because of COVID restrictions and I noticed a young girl with an older creepy guy driving around the parking lot in circles. They kept doing this for a while. Eventually, I forgot about them, and I started walking on a different side of the campus which was pretty much secluded. Suddenly, I see them again and they pulled up and parked right next to me. There was no reason for them to do that. I took off running with my dog and ran into the campus and hid. I don't know if they were bad people or coincidentally pulled up next to me, but the guy in the car was creepy. He gave me a bad vibe.

This happened to me leaving campus one day.. I had seen a middle-aged woman walking up to other students and them just walking away from her. When I got to where she was, she asked me if I was leaving campus and I said yes. She asked if I would give her a ride downtown (only a few miles away) and I said sure. She said she was at the hospital (across the street from campus) visiting and was headed back home. I didnt see anything weird about it at the moment. It was an extremely hot day outside and she was a bigger lady who wasnt in the kind of shape to walk that far in the heat.. and helping people always makes you feel good, ya know? But it got weird extremely quick, and my dumbass still went through with it. When we got to my car she noticed a booster seat in the back.
Lady: Oh, do you have a kid?
    Me: Yeah, I have two.
L: Where are they at now?
M: Daycare. (At this point, yes I'm being extremely short with her because I start to feel extremely uneasy all of the sudden and her questions are just hitting me weird.)
L: That isn't cheap. Who pays for that?
    M: My fiancee'.
L: Its really hot out today and I dont have any AC at my house. Can I come to yours?
At this point I'm all the way freaked out. I dont even know this womans name. Who asks a stranger all these questions?! I'm literally brainstorming on what I'm gonna do if she pulls a knife or gun on me.
M: Uh, I'm actually not headed home I have some errands to run. (We are downtown at this point) Where exactly did you want me to drop you off?
L: Oh, just keep going and I'll tell you to turn.
We pass a few streets and she has me turn onto a side street. She tells me to pull over and she just sits there for a second looking ahead. I look up and I see these two men coming out of an alley towards my car and she is sllllooowwwwlllyyy opening her door.
I laugh at this part looking back... but my body is screaming for me to just GO! These men are coming closer and she is just sitting with one leg out of the car watching them walk towards us. So I just freaking GO! This woman rolls out of my car. And I just book it out of there. Didnt even look back.
That was 8 years ago and I still feel it like it happened this morning. Definitely one of the most scariest moments of my life. I can't imagine what it feels like to actually be trapped in that situation with no way out.

We need to look out for one another and keep each other safe! I have two stories.
    1. My best friend and I went to see a show at this club in San Francisco called Ruby Sky. We didn't drink at all that night, but we were in a lighthearted silly mood, hyped for the show to start. We probably looked as if we were drunk because of the energy we had (Redbulls 😅) when taking silly photos 📷 🤪. We get approached early in the night by a guy with a Slavic accent and a girl (who I don't recall speaking). He says it's his gf and we small talk. Soon after, his taller friend shows up and the woman basically disappears. They ask us what kind of drinks we like and offer to buy. We were playing nice and say, oh vodka shots. They say, oh, that's perfect! We walk over to the bar and my friend noticed the drinks were already poured. I hadn't picked up on that part, but I was fully not going to take a drink from a stranger anyways. I look down in the shot glass and it had something weird floating in it, like a piece of weird thin ice 🧊 that hasn't melted. They are trying to continue talking to us the whole time and watch us drink it. We were both sketched out for two different reasons. They go on to tell us they'll "find us later on the dance floor" and that "I'll take her" you can have "that one"....literally said that in front of us b/c they assumed we were drunk. We whisper to eachother abt our observations. She decides to fake spill her shot out "because she's too drunk" and I forget what I did with mine. They got mad that she spilled hers. We were so shook up by the whole thing. It ruined the night tbh. The whole car ride home we just kept going over the details, reaffirming our belief. We dodged a bullet, but we also felt really bad that we didn't have the sense to call the cops or do more. They could have tried the thing on the next girl 😔. We did tell the security guard and he asked us if we wanted them thrown out. While sitting in the lobby, we saw the men leave, so hopefully they left for good.
    2. I was walking home alone at night in my college town. I was hyper aware of my surroundings and knew there was an adult man walking 🚶🏼‍♀️ 🚶‍♂️ behind me from a short distance. At one point, he hid in a bush. At the crosswalk, I passed a girl walking the opposite direction (towards where I last saw the guy). I stop and tell her and she immediately turns around and walks with me, back the direction she came. Sisterhood is a beautiful thing.

This same system applies for other situations. An example: I use to work in a decor store. One afternoon a couple came in and started to talk to me about decor. Shortly after the man walked away, while the woman continued on with me about her decor questions. We went into the corner of the store where I could help her pick out throw pillows and curtains. It was a slow afternoon, as in basically no one in sight, and there was one other employee working with me at the time. The woman eventually got her involved with the pillow and curtain convo so we were both distracted. Meanwhile, the man was raiding our office and eventually left the store with our purses. He tried to break into our safe with no luck and resorted to our personal belongings. Her behaviour was overly polite, and she acted very interested in what we had to say. She also talked a lot about herself / her life, in the same manner as you described. These people act SO nice to you, so you trust them, as you said. The same system can be applied in various situations so just look out for those same signs anywhere and everywhere.

Your story reminded me of a time when I was 16 and was approached by a woman holding a baby outside of a grocery store. She was very kind. She struck up a conversation asking if i had ever considered dancing because she believed I was pretty and would be good at it. She asked my age, complimented me on my looks, stated that she had a "job opportunity" that would earn me a lot of money very fast. I was only 16 so I was attracted to the idea of making money quickly. I asked, "What kind of dancing?" She said it was just dancing, very professional and safe, all managed at their place of business. Then a man appears next to her. She tells me he was her husband and the manager of the business. I explained I was only 16. She said it was fine, they'd be able to work around it. She asked for my number to meet up later that evening. Now keep in mind this was the late 90s so I had no cell, only a beeper lol so I gave that number. I'll admit I was very insecure and had low self esteem back then so the idea that someone saw me as pretty really fed that void inside. My beeper went off around 10pm and all of a sudden, I panicked thinking of my family. Wondering what they would think if they saw me "dancing" or whatever it is they were trying to have me do. And I couldn't do it. I never responded to the message.
Was this sex trafficking? The woman seemed very sweet with her baby on her hip and her husband beside her. It all seemed ok. But it was God who kept me from danger I never even understood.

Now thankfully as an adult, I don’t give a crap. My safety comes first. I find using very confident body language and being firm and even aggressive if needed really helps keep strangers at bay.
I was walking with my then 2 year old and had a woman and man approach. I immediately had warning bells go off as they saw us and pulled into a parking spot with their care and approached. They were being very friendly and trying to get my attention by asking questions. I cut them off and kept walking. I don’t owe a stranger anything especially as a mom walking with a young child.
I’ve also had creepy men try to follow me home walking back from the grocery store. If pretending to be on the phone doesn’t dissuade them, I’ll straight up say “excuse me, I don’t know you and I’m a woman walking by myself. You’re making me uncomfortable and you need to back up or we’re going to have a problem.”

If something doesn’t feel right, do exactly what Katrena did, trust your gut, and call someone! Don’t be embarrassed if you gave someone your number or think that you overshared. It seems like in each instance I read about, the traffickers take these interactions a step too far and set off alarm bells. No one normal is going to make you feel uncomfortable to your core. And don’t worry about wanting to be polite. Trust yourself: you are so smart.

I remember two strange men asking me if I wanted to catch a ride with them when I was waiting for a bus in Toronto. I was only 14. This was more than 10 years ago smh. I am so glad my parents taught me to be aware of my surroundings and to never trust strangers. I was scared because they kept following me as I was walking but thank God nothing happened and I was in a public place 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Also a word of caution I know you mentioned you are interested in modeling but please be careful I have had friends who worked with well known Instagram photographers and they turned out to be creepers. in san francisco recently with my sibling we had multiple encounters with traffickers trying to manipulate us. thank you for sharing your story, this is more prevalent than anyone would know. a young woman walked by us while we were sitting in this cool alley w/ graffiti, a place teens would be at, and she said to us “Hey beautiful people” and it was nice and she seemed so warm and friendly. later on me and my sibling noticed a $100 bill in this storm drain/gutter in the ground in front of us that was easy to see but unable to access. later the same warm woman came by and asked what we were looking at and we told her and she seemed to be excited and wanted to help. she then went on to talk w/ us and gave a lecture to my non-binary sibling repeatedly misgendering them and talking about how dangerous it is for women out here and how our parents need to know where we are after dark. it’s like she said that to build trust and make herself not seem like “that kinda person”. she asked us to follow her to her house and grab something to get the $100 bill with and i was tempted but my older sibling who knew better gave me cues not to go so i didn’t. the next day we came back and the $100 bill was gone. i think that’s because the traffickers never intended on letting anyone have it, it was simply a tool they used to lure people in and then have people working with traffickers approach the people who were lured in so they can offer help and do god knows what when they follow them.

Ten years ago I was shopping in a thrift store for items for a library display when I accidentally made eye contact with a man. I looked away and continued shopping, when I noticed he seemed to be following me. Just to be sure, I went into the baby section, and he was there, too! I quickly began walking toward the exit, and saw him parallel across the store also going for the exit. I ducked under some clothing racks and hid, watching him leave the store. I then saw him standing beside my car, which sent chills up and down my spine because it meant he had watched me pull up to the store and get out of my car! Had he followed me to the store? I called my father-in-law and explained my predicament. The guy waited beside my car for several minutes, then finally walked to his car. Still talking to my father-in-law, I walked to my car and was just getting in when the guy pulled up beside me and tried to talk to me through his open window. I gave him the ugliest look and made sure he could see I was on my phone, and he drove away. He had out-of-state plates. He drove straight onto the highway to leave, and I waited until he was gone to drive back toward my house. I was so shaken.
