I just recently got mine. Did not get an extra battery with it, so I was glad that I ordered extras with a charger. Instead, I got this piece to snap on it as an audio enhancer. I have a mic to plug in though. Am learning about it now, so I can hike, bike & explore along with the use if a gimbal. Thanks for your review. I haven't upgraded the new firmware yet either...

I mount an action cam to the top of my DSLR when I'm shooting at car shows and I get awesome b-roll video while taking awesome pictures with the dslr! (Also, loved this review. Thanks!)
That 120FPS, in my opinion is KEY to an action cam! the footage looks quite exaggerated as far as the fish eye lens goes... but honestly that shouldn't be a big deal with how cheap it is

My primary reason for using these Chinese action cameras instead of the GoPro is the optional date and time stamp. I'm not sure why GoPro does not provide this option and have ignored my numerous requests on their website, tech support, and even R&D. The problem is that most of these Chinese action cams in my experience have had inferior technical quality (especially audio). With the Thieye T5e, I am in the process of "hacking" the external mic input port by increasing the diameter of the hole leading to the mic input in order for me to be able to plug in a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. This may have been a manufacturing oversight with the plastic casing of the camera that does not allow a snug connection of any 2.5mm plug. While this may be a messy workaround, it may be the only way to properly access the external mic input for this camera.

We just bought a 4K X4 Kaisen Baas Action Camera. Looks to be the same as that camera. Maybe they are built in China as White Label electronics. Charging my camera now - keep an eye out for what we can do with it! Nice Vid! We paid $275 Australian.
For this price range I will choose Yi 4k, has the same quality as GoPro 5. But I still brought Sony FDR X3000 after have Yi 4k. Cause optical stabilization is really important for sport like biking.
I really want an action cam. I'm wanting to do some mountain biking and the occasional motovlog plus it's really good to have a mount in my drag truck when I'm done with it.
Looks like a good camera to try. I also had good luck with the Firefly 6s, got one for $70 free shipping. No screen though, have to rely on wifi and a cell.

I am thinking of starting a youtube channel for gardening. This looks like a great starting camera for that. My question is, How well does this Camera perform outside? My biggest worry is sound. I'm concerned about the glass breaking. I have three inexpensive action cameras that I use videoing some wood shop work, usually high dust. Mine have survived falls off of overhead booms with no damage. I'm using a Dazzne P2 Wifi, an SJ4000, and an Ablegrid SJ4000 clone, all are older and no 4K, but give great HD quality and are virtually bullet proof and dust resistant without any case. Add the waterproof case and they make fantastic little cameras to put in places you wouldn't think about using a camcorder or DSLR.

For a while my PERFECT 4K camera was Panasonic's LX100 with its delicious Leica 24-70mm F1.7 lens on it....... then I got an iPhone 5 SE and the Moondog Labs Animorphic Lens and the LX100 was sold off.........

Just to give you heads up i'l be using this for nightlife purposes like recording live Dj sets, console shots, crowd with the sound. So i'll just place the questions and would be great if you could help me here: 1. Would be a good choice over Yi 4k for recording live sound 2. You mentioned the low light performance is low so is it too grainy. 3. Any other option which you could recommend on the same for the purpose im looking at. GO Pro is way outta budget at the moment. Would be great if you could help me out here.
