What an interesting idea. To the elderly ears of someone like me who grew up in the analogue era, the cassette version _does_ sound warmer and more realistic.

So happy you enjoyed! I definitely was pleased with the results from cassette. Thank you 🙏

It's not stupid at all! It's really informative.

😆 I am happy to hear you say that. Sometimes, in the moment of recording, it is hard to tell if the idea will resonate. Certainly was a fun project. Thank you for watching!

Wow! The cassette does make it sound like an old performance from the 19th century or something😆 It sounds amazing!!

I can't listen to the digital after listening to the cassette one.

🤣 That much of an improvement? I was wondering how noticeable it would seem.

I think it sounds much smoother on the cassette. However, it's all converted to digital when you upload to youtube so it's either something that gets added by the cassette or it's the multiplied effect DA conversions making the digital one sound bad. I have experimented with different types of dithering when mastering/rendering using no limits compressor/limiter and felt I could hear the difference. I prefer the sound of records on my cheap record player to the sound from itunes. I am meaning to experiment using the direct monitoring system of my focusrite interface as a mixbus instead of the DAW (reaper/logic) to see how that sounds compared to the DAWs internal mixbus. Some people would say that this is all psycological but I do think there is something to it. When I listen to a record I feel more like I'm there in the studio compared to when I listen on itunes. Lossless audio from Apple is a marked improvement compared to mp3, which is interesting as it is still digital. I can hear a slight improvement in itunes if I add the equaliser (with flat settings), I think the preamp within that enhances the sound. It could be the digital vs analogue factor but it could also be that harmonics are added to the sound when you play through another medium like a cassette. Or perhaps we prefer imperfection. These are my thoughts on the subject.

@donnagrimshaw3512 thank you for sharing. Like many in my age group, we are learning that these older forms of media are superior in many ways. People are ditching their streaming services and returning to not only the physical CD, but cassette and record.
I am much happier playing a record through my sound system than listening with brand new headphones online.
