    13 months of anti-estrogen pills and I was in remission from BC4. No chemo, no hair loss. We changed Pet Scans to 6 months instead of quarterly. The first one came back that I now need radiation on T9 vertebrae. Remission was brief. I am waiting on the consult appt. The mental game is hard. I'm not telling my teens this time. Absolutely one day at a time. However, for me I needed dressings due to blisters that were draining. I wish I would of known in advance I might need those items. For me it was abd pads, not stick stripe 4x9 and tape. Also don’t wait to ask for ointments, and pain meds. I was desperate the blisters did bleed. I do not regret doing radiation just that I wasn’t prepared for possible side effects.

    I just finished with radiation last Tues. This is Friday . I only have immunotherapy to finish now , but my Dr. Is talking about possible maintenance chemo drug for 6 months ? Even as a preventative and a slight better possible chance to not returning. ??

    Just got done with chemo and had my double mastectomy on 20 December, and they’re saying I still need more chemo and radiation, I haven’t had the reconstruction I have the space savers in and they are very uncomfortable....

      Hi! I’m sorry to hear you have to do more treatment. Ask if they can expand your expanders with some fluid. It might help your chest to feel better. The expanders have corners that can be uncomfortable. It feels better with fluid in them. And even better if you get a soft silicone implant eventually. Stay the course. Completely beat your cancer and then you’ll be on your way to reconstruction and done. 🙏🏼❤️

    My moms only choice was radiation to just extend her life to maybe a year. She had an aggressive form of lung cancer. She did one treatment & stopped because she said it was too painful. Maybe if she knew it would have cured her, she would have pushed through. My mom didn't make it 2 months after her diagnosis & I used to be so angry @ her for not trying to fight it. I was only 21 @ the time & Ive had a lot of time to heal, to forgive & to understand....its been 31 years since she passed. Thank you so much for sharing this. Its helped me to understand why my mom chose not to fight. ❤

      @@MarinaBlackford Thank you Marina! Its been a long hard road for me. I miss her everyday. I'm finally taking the time for counseling for many reasons from my 1st marriage. To include not being aloud to grieve after a couple of weeks of her passing. I had to bury my feelings or quickly hide how I was feeling from my 1st husband because he was so controlling. I'm pretty certain I still have a lot of grieving & healing left to do.
      I hope today has been a great day for you! ❤🙏

    Hello! will you experience hair loss after radiation same as the chemotherapy?

    • @MarinaBlackford
      @MarinaBlackford  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I did not experience hair loss with radiation. I suppose this could be a factor of the radiation is closer to your head or your immune system is suppressed. So your hair growth could be less during radiation.

      Oh my! Is there a bandage you can use there to help the skin? Something like a silicone bandage like this:

      Tell your doctors and try ointment if recommended.

    Hello what diet should we take during radiotherapy?

    • @MarinaBlackford
      @MarinaBlackford  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A hydrating one with a variety of fruits and vegetables for nutrients and your choice of protein. For example, lots of water, watermelon or pineapple for thirst, spinach in smoothies, yogurt with fruit and nuts, hummus with veggies and protein with organic rice or veggies. That’s my personal opinion. 🙏🏼

    Did you have radiation with your first journey with breast cancer?

    • @MarinaBlackford
      @MarinaBlackford  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I did not have radiation the first time. This was because we did chemo then a double mastectomy which removed (almost) all the breast tissue. My first tumors were non existent after all of that so there seemed to be no need to radiate. We did radiation this time due to reoccurrence and to cover all our bases. Great question! There are many different breast cancers and scenarios to consider which treatment is best. I have full faith in my oncology team which gives me peace.

    Am suffered from nose and throat cancer,last month only my radiation treatment is over, Doctor asked me to take rest for few months,due to radiation my face color become black,,am applying betnovite for skin,but result is slow,
    Anyone suggest me any other good effective skin cream to get my old natural skin...

    • @MarinaBlackford

      Hi! Radiation there would be very hard. Consistency is the key. Apply your cream twice a day. I used aloe Vera gel and an ointment. I’ve used a cream with sea algae for healing before too. It works wonders.

      Hi! You’re welcome! My mom took Lynparza which had side effects too. Nausea and fatigue were the worst symptoms. I would treat this like chemo. Take your pills after you have your first meal, hydrate, take walks, and talk to your doctors about your symptoms as needed.

    We’re you still able to work? I survived breast cancer four years ago! About a year ago, I thought I had a blood clot in my left leg, as it would swell around my ankle and foot! They sent me for an ultrasound check for a blood clot… they found much worse!!!! It seems I have a mass and a blood clot! They found the mass to be an inoperable leiomyosarcoma! It covers my femoral artery, much like frosting on a cake! I had seven weeks of radiation which did shrink it somewhat, but now I have masses in my liver. The treatment plan now is for chemo, & the Red Devil is the drug of choice!
