The Duckies, Baldies and Wanderers were real gangs. The baldies weren't bald but took their name from the Bald Eagle. Dion of Dion and the Belmont's who sang the song "Wander" was a Baldie. And Ace Freley of Kiss was a duckie. The wanderers and baldies were mostly Italian. Duckies were Irish. It's believed the duckies got their name from the duck pond they used to hang out at. One prominent duckie was Irish Chinese. Him and his family were pretty tough and well known for it. It's believed that his family were the inspiration for the wongs
A TRUE BRONX FILM. This movie was overshadowed a bit because THE WARRIORS came out around the same time. This should be remade AND filmed in the BRONX. Opening shot is the old FORDAHM ROAD, The Alexander shop is now Ballys total fitness
I had friend in the Navy, Ray Licini, from the Bronx, and he told me, "Yeah, the Fordham Baldies were not made up for that movie. They're a real gang."
one of my favorite, most iconic, beginning of a movie ever! the song, the location, the camera work, the whole scenery, i have never seen a better introduction into the general atmosphere of a movie ever. from the first frame on, you are in the Bronx in the 60s. Amazing…
I have to admit that the movie is great, one of the very best. But, the book is even better. I highly recommend reading it. Sadly.reading is becoming a lost art..
They made a lot of changes from the book. In the book, Despi was Buddy's girl, not Richie's. And in the book, the scene with the bowling hustlers happens near the end.
The Marine in the recruitment office calmly sipping his coffee knowing someday the big thugs will arrive, a couple of good hard months in camp lejune should straighten them up
I love this movie. I've loved it ever since my Dad introduced me to it wen I was about 12/13 yrs old and I'm 37 yrs old now so I've loved it since then. I especially love all the 60's music in it. I even bought the soundtrack on CD years ago
Well, I was a young boy, to tell the truth my friends and I went to the wrong cinema because we wanted to see "The Warriors"; in the end we went in anyway and we liked it.😁 Some time later we finally went to see "the warriors" and we didn't like it the same way. The final scene of the film has stuck in my mind for years
One of my favorite films of all time. I spent many days at the exact spot getting the bus to columnbus high school. Remembering mom looking for us as we ran around Alexander’s as little boys .. lol 😆. Miss those days
On this date in 1963 {Mar. 2nd} "Walk Like A Man" reached #1 {for 3 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart and spent 13 weeks in the Top 100... Ranked 24th on Billboard's Year-End Top 100 Singles of 1963 chart... The boys got their career off to a great start; 3 of the first 4 records that they released peaked at #1 {the other two were "Sherry" and "Big Girls don't Cry"...
Old Alexander's and the RKO. I had a few medical procedures done at Union hospital. Good times. I remember the recruiting office was down the block over the concourse. Memories.
The Baldies were not neo nazi racist, just a gang with a bunch of knuckleheads that now one messed around with constantly messing around with the Wanderers heads pranking
The book is a 100x better, read it you won't be disappointed. The baldies joined the navy not the Marine corps. And terror was disqualified because he has asthma.
love this movie. i grew up on long island and tulsa oklahoma but my folks were from the bronx. when i was a lil kid my mom and grandma would take me to buy toys at caldor on fordham road in the early 90s. i love this movie so much. Richie Gennero, terror baldy , Perry Turkey and Joey
Love this flick.I've never seen anything like it despite people comparing it to the warriors (also excellent) its so weird and cool. One minute its all light hearted and comedic then out of nowhere it keeps changing like the ducky boys showing up.Whats the matter stitch dont we have a category for you? Nah I'm a Eskimo!!!
Alan Rosenberg who plays Turkey in this clip around the 1:50 mark is a respected actor and was in a brilliant short lived ABC series about attorneys called “ civil wars” in the early 1990’s. He has done various tv and film roles and was president of the screen actors guild at one time.
Got it for my birthday. :-) Love it. I also read the book about a week ago. Loved that too. Although .. the book could be downright nasty sometimes and the movie doesn't follow it vey close ... I still really enjoyed it and would like to endorse it, especially for teenage boys. ;-)
Lov it one of the best films ever. The soundtrack is brilliant, me and me mates used to sing I'm the wanderer at any party going, back on the early 80s 🇬🇧
I'm more fan of The Warriors, their fight to survive after being blamed was a good story. The Wanderers to me accept for Ducky Boys gang, Wanderers were a sports team acting like gangsters. And The Baldies were just big burly guys bullying little guys with their size when they felt insulted, was annoying how they used Peewee, Turkey, a black guy feel like members but were never. Terror always driving around like he was going to go kick ass but never really did, just drove away leaving a used kid like Turkey in other gang's territory. Good on the Marine recruiter getting all the Baldies to Vietnam. lmao
Man, I love this movie. That Terror is one big DUDE!! I grew up in NY, so movies like The Wanderers and The Warriors kind of bring back the good ole' days. Us wiley and street smart NYers never took any bull, even if it was from 400 plus pound Baldies. But them Ducky Boys would have scared me a bit, those psychos weren't playin' with a full deck! ~Gods Blessings~
Now out on Blu Ray with six minutes of additional footage

Many of the gangs were real. Especially the creepy ducky boys
This pisses all over the warriors
I miss that building being Caldors

This came out first and then warriors

And how many more gay references were in the book compared to the movie?
Unbelievable love this nostalgia ❤
The Marine in the recruitment office calmly sipping his coffee knowing someday the big thugs will arrive, a couple of good hard months in camp lejune should straighten them up
Best movie in the late 70...
Epic. I discovered it in the '80s and these days my son and I can now quote the entire movie.
We, too 😂
