@@Wholelattelovepage Just bought one from you guys. One thing you did not mention, does the lube need to be used on first operation or is it pre lubed and the lube is for later on. Thanks.

What would you set your water hardness to if you’re using distilled water

Hi alex, Recommend against using distilled water for 2 reasons. First, with long-term use distilled water can damage internal components - it may cause corrosion of some metals. Second, due to the lack of minerals in distilled water it over-extracts coffee resulting in bitter flavors. Lacking any minerals, distilled water has no hardness so if you must use (not recommended) set to the lowest hardness setting on the machine.

First time I'm considering moving to a automatic machine, my wife and I enjoy a strong latte and occasional long black. Is this a machine you're comfortable recommending?

Hi Alex, yes, the Velasca would be a good choice for that. If you like your drinks extra strong, you can use the 2x brewing function by double-tapping the espresso button. This will grind and brew twice, giving you up up to a 23g dose in a single drink. Both the Velasca and Velasca Prestige have a hot water function so you can make a long black, though it would be a two-step process. Similarly, if you want the 2x shot in a latte, you'll either manually steam the milk separately (Velasca) or brew a 2x espresso then dispense milk froth (Velasca Prestige). Hi susan,
      Adjusting the coffee quantity:
      1. Press and hold the ESPRESSO button or ESPRESSO LUNGO
button until the display shows the word MEMO.
      2. When the cup contains the desired amount of coffee, press the
OK button to save the selected quantity.

Is the OK button the aroma strength button?
      Many thanks
