Nobody factors in their build or height. I have a smaller wrist but small watches look strange on my 188cm athletic frame. 40mm-43mm is the sweet spot, but thickness, bracelet width and especially lug-to-lug length are almost more important measurements than case size.

I've been wearing the 42mm Zulu Time. The watch is fantastic. 9/10. Of course the often talked about lugs could be better, but it is not so simple for Longines. They have their bracelet supplier -- which I believe comes from China -- and it has its specifications for matching the case. They use this bracelet on several watches. Homogeny between products keeps costs down. If they changes the lugs on 1 watch, they have to change the lugs on all watches that use that same bracelet.
Another problem is the color of the bracelet does not match the color of the watch -- probably because they are made in different factories with different steels.
I will say the bracelet is quite good. Many people don't like hearing the C word, but if you look at how the bracelet meets with the case (which is made elsewhere, I believe) it is clear the factory making the bracelet and the factory making the case have very precise tooling. It is a well made bracelet with high precision.
If Longines can tie these loose ends, their Spirit line becomes a staple and a classic, in my opinion. Of course, tying these lose ends may result in the watch matching more expensive brands like Tudor in costs -- which would not position Longines tactically where they are trying to position themselves.

You are a good interviewer Teddy. I noticed that when you asked Mr. Miccio about the lug to lug lenght: in one hand you know that's a common concern amongst watch collectors, wich shows your appreciation for your fans, and on the other you asked him if Longines have discussed that topic, without being confrontational or unpolite, which shows your understanding and respect for the watchmaker's difficult task of trying to please the collectors. Thumbs up

Kudos to Longines for making the right improvements - reduced size to 37 mm, date brought to 6 o clock, removed the red seconds hand tip (which was an eye sore) and the champagne dial is lovely. Still not a fan of the 5 stars, but on this one its much more subtler and tolerable.

Thank you for giving younger people like me (29) that maybe don’t have the money or the connection to brand like Rolex, but that love washes that inspiration.also I respect this brands the most because they are approaching us the consumer unlike Rolex that just drank their own coolaid and think they are to cool to be nice.

Really great that they added a smaller size. I love my 40mm Spirit, and if I was to choose between it and the 37, I'd still go with the 40. The dial window of the 37 is way nicer, but I don't really like the fact that they changed the finishing of the hands from sandblasted to polished. The sandblasted hands work wonders for legibility of the original 40 and 42.
Wouldn't mind the polished hands in the Zulu, though, since they work well with the glossy bezel. Am really partial to the green bezel/gilt anthracite dial version. The blue and orange one is close by.

Hi Teddy, the Zulu Time is for sure the "Black Bay Line Up" of Longines! It will be a real success. They can or will build an empire on this - smaller diameter i.eg. below 40 mm - more color variations, bronze like the Legend Diver - what a big hit. And the prices - really affordable. Why wait for years on a Starbucks - get it from Longines with GMT function instead. Plus quick change of straps and bracelet, so cool! Need to call the AD in the next hours. Greetings from Germany. Many thanks

I hope what longines is doing with size reduction gets massive appeal and eventually echoes through to other brands. 36-38 is the new 40-42mm. I wish though that longines and other brands give respect to the target consumers by fitting these cases with more top notch movements and not leave them with a compromise option like they arr doing now.

Finally the Spirit gets a smaller 37mm version with much better lug-to-lug. Absolutely stunning GMT, but why only in 42mm?!

Thank you Teddy and Giuseppe, a great video. The new colours of the Legend Diver are very welcome especially the burgundy for me anyway. The new Spirit watches have just leaped onto my radar as items to see at the AD at some point. The new smaller sizes are welcome as is the relocation of the date window to six as this adds balance and symmetry to the dial. It's also great to hear that it was a design decision to move the GMT hand on the Zulu Time to the second point on the hand stack. I think it works very well to keep the watch slim. The on the fly strap adjustment is also great to see. Thanks again both for sharing. Oh and Teddy I agree that the sector dial is a real go anywhere gem of a piece.

Longines the brand that embraced their past. Wish they did some more from their vintage conquest line from the 60s but I can see it in the long haul.

Longines is really rocking it right now! So much so that I purchased the blue dial chronograph on bracelet last week. Love it, a very tall piece mind and the lug to to lug length is perhaps a put off for some. Yes my new piece does wear large, hence the calf leather strap is on it’s way to me. But the whole Spirit range from Longines is a home run!! Fantastic pieces, love the Zulu Time models! Watch out Tudor!

Great video. This brand is amazing. I have a Master Collection moonphase 40mm and it wears 10/10, taking wrist time from higher-end pieces. The new spirit is going to be a hit, small but the long lug-to-lug (proportionally) balances it, like the Explorer 36. The Zulu Time is simply stunning, but unfortunately large at 42mm and 50mm long. Well, Longines is known to make 2mm increments on their watches, who knows if they develop 40mm spirits and Zulu Times.

Really glad to hear Giuseppe say that they are evolving away from gendered marketing. I remember a few years back I stopped by their Financial District shop, and was excited to learn of and get wrist time with their 36mm Legend Diver. But I had to explicitly insist on it because the salesperson never considered it while I was trying on the 42 as it was "for women" -- despite the 42 being clearly too big on my 5.75" wrist. Though I'm used to shopping women's sizes at times, it was still a turn off. London Jewelers next door made no such distinction with their collection of Oris Divers 65s.
Super excited by both the 37mm Legend and the GMT. Cheers to a spectacularly growing and evolving Longines!
    Also, welcome to NYC, Teddy!

Did you end up getting a 36mm Divers 65? My wrist is just a tad over 6” & I’m wondering how the 40mm Oris would fit.

    • @marcocarag103
      @marcocarag103 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@chriscon8463 No, but it did fit great. I actually think it looks better than the Longines because the compressor style actually _looks_ bigger on wrist -- the internal bezel just looks like part of the dial and pushes the diameter out.
So yeah, even though I didn't get it, I do much prefer the standard divers look of the Oris.
