So the bezel is full ceramic with “bi-finish ceramic insert in matt black and intense polished black” not half ceramic half titanium - sorry for the mistake!
@@MinuteMon thank you for the review and this clarification - you got me worried for a few hours 🤣 Excellent release! It has few advantages over the tudor black bay 58 gmt: - titanium grade 5 - quick release bracelet - smaller links with enough micro adjust positions that makes it possible to fit to any wrist size - ceramic bezel insert - the bezel is done on such a way that it can be used for measuring elapsed minutes or hours due to the lumed triangle and the fact that it can be steadily positioned between the 24 clicks - I think the pilot esthetic fits a gmt better - looks a bit dressier so a better balance between dress and sports
Why did you think it was titanium? I have never heard that before so find it very odd you would just make it up rather than assume its a combination of polished and matt ceramic.
@@Vess_Iossifov you have just justified my purchase of this piece. Also, I personally feel that the BB58’s design is too common and lacks any real effort. Feels like the brand is doing the heavy lifting rather than the watch itself
@@idevwatpo congratulations! Wish you enjoy it! I personally already thought that the Zulu time 39mm is one of the best watches on the market keeping in mind all factors. Now this titanium model the way it is done I think it is a perfect watch - the design, colors, materials, functionality, quality and price - I really think it is as close to perfect as I can see. It is a very rare thing! And I agree - it is an original and amazing look from a brand with matching piloting pedigree. In comparison black bay 58 gmt is very unoriginal - yes, it uses the designs of sister company rolex so all is good, but longines went further and actually created an excellent new and fresh design! Picked up a AMZWATCH's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!
My biggest gripe with the zulu time is the rediculously long endlink-to-endlink, which I believe is around 53(!!!)mm. Even though the end links angle down, this watch does not wear well on my 6,5' wrist. If you wear it on a strap, the dimensions are appropriate for a 39mm case. I'd rather not have a quick-release system in the bracelet for a better fit over the quick-release functionality that comes with male end links. What is the point of reducing the case size if the bracelet ruins the fit?
Hey the other Easter egg with ‘Zulu time’ is that it harkens back to the first ever gmt that Longines produced, which was the first ever wristwatch gmt! Awesome video, all the data and watch shots I wanted. And you’re pretty much the only one on TH-cam for this ref at this point!❤👌
So happy you made a review on this watch! I recently purchased the 39mm stainless steel version and It has so much wrist time. I love it. Great review!
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
the only thing that makes me still prefer BBPro over this is the T-Fit, still waiting for other brand to come up with a similar or better solution for re-sizing on the fly
The Zulu time from Longines presents some of the best value in the entire industry. I’ve owned it…the detail, movement/travelers gmt functionality, ceramic bezel, etc. make it amazing. There’s one major problem imo left out of most reviews… The male end links are a problem. They protrude far beyond its case size and give the appearance of the watch overhanging on wrists despite in being within your typical case proportions. I highly recommend trying on in-person before purchasing for this reason.
I've been wearing basically this watch every day since January (the Hodinkee collab with no stars on the dial 😊) and I still love it. The titanium is so light and the tone/polishing is beautiful. Highly recommend!
I really don't understand why it doesn't have an on-the-fly ajustment, especially when the hydroconquest gmt, which is cheaper, has one. This is one of the areas where tudor still has the advantage given that since the introduccion of the t-fit all new tudor watches are fitted with it.
We got the new model in the Glasgow boutique I’ve been itching to sell it! So glad we finally can - looks STUNNING on display. The grade 5 Titanium is SWEET
urgh, cant believe every watch reviewer is not mentioning this. When i tried on zulu, the biggest flaw i noticed is that is has a very straight case back, so it makes the watch wear really "long". Literally look at 6:39, see how much gap there is to the wrist below the lugs. It's a fantastic watch and i really want to like it, but let down by the back and it just doesnt sit right on the wrist
If you do want to try this on a strap, I've highly recommend a black+grey stitching sailcloth. it's been a great pairing for the bracelet on my steel zulu time
Amazing watch on so many levels. The lack of a micro adjustment has kept me from pulling the trigger. Weird the San Martin homage at ~$250 has the micro adjustment, but the Longines does not. (Be interesting to compare those two watches in another video).
Looks great, but the lack of an on-the-fly adjustment is peculiar. I have two watches with OTF bracelets, a Wise GMT and a Ginault Ocean Rover II, and I will never go back to a bracelet with a manual micro adjustments.
Got the ti in the Zulu Time x Hodinkee version, and one of my faves! Also have the green bezel, grey/black in ss 42mm. Longines is killing it. The new conquest chronos and hydrochonquest GMTs are fantastic too!
I have the Black Bay 58 GMT which I absolutely *love* to death. By far and away my favorite watch ever. It has that "je ne sais quoi" like the first Porsche I drove or the first painting I bought. It's hard to put into words but it has some kind of magic emotional quality that makes me just love it. The Longines seems like it's more cold and calculating - not an emotional feeling but a technical one. Maybe it's the titanium and its spooky lightness, or the dial, I can't quite put my finger on it. But anyway, that's me :)
I had one of the Longines Conquest 41mm (2023). It was a beautiful watch, and my first Longines, but I learned Longines is not for me. I respect the heritage and the quality, and think many pieces look great but I would go for a Tudor or other similar brand instead. Resale value isn't too great either, in my personal experience. Thanks for the video!
I loved the green ceramic bezel version, but I loved the titanium spirit almost as much. Now that this essentially combines the two, this has become my new grail watch.
Awesome watch but has two red flags which make it a no-go for me: 1. No on-the-fly microadjustment. It's a must have in in 2024 and many cheaper brands do it. If you ever wore a bracelet with one you'd never want to go back to fixed. The wrists expand during the day. 2. The true lug-to-lug is actually a whooping 53mm, making this watch wear well only on wrists 7'' and above. The male end-links ruin it so don't be fooled by the smaller 39mm case. They need to either launch a smaller 37mm case or reduce the lugs, or equip female end links. Then it'll be perfect on titanium.
I’ve been wondering when we would get this after the Hodinkee watch. There is a lot to like but I really dislike the stars and the egg timer but I can’t believe they put that dismal clasp on it. Even the hydro conquest comes with on the fly adjustment. Longines really needs to hire the Hodinkee team as consultants as their version was so much better.
I have the normal 39mm and I really like it. I love the shininess and the quick release feature which I use a lot, although I don’t bother using a NATO as putting the spring bars in is a bore.
Some shots might not have it screwed down all the way which adds to the larger appearance but no it doesn’t bother me. It’s a pilots watch so it’s not out of place to have a larger crown
Agreed with the conclusion. This Longines Zulu Time Titanium compare with Tudor BB58 GMT. You will not go wrong in either way. Since I owned the Zulu Time 42 mm (Green/Black) for one and half year (still love it). If I brought one more. Should go to Tudor BB58 GMT. Tudor best issue in 2024.
I love LONGINES for 30 years I guess, the only point stops me from getting this brilliant piece is: GMT hand is above the hours hand 😔 it could be for a technical reason but this could not be logic. Imagine yourself in a business trip to LONDON but your home time is above your Local time !! I might be wrong and LONGINES might has their logical opinion, this doesn’t harm the great achievement of the brand ❤
They need to make a non gilt version of this also, and it would be perfect (yes I know about the hodinkee version). The gilt craze is getting to be too much.
I actually was thinking it looks long on the wrist before the lug to lug length was mentioned. 53mm lug to lug is too long for a 39mm case. Anything over 50mm is too long for a watch this size. It's too bad, the watch is otherwise very nice.
I’m on the hunt for this exact watch but in a White Dial so for that reason I’m not intrigued but not invested so for that reason it will not be in my collection.
I wasn't sold on the Zulu until I saw the hodinkee version. Clasp has the longlines logo instead of the text. Date at 3 o'clock and no 5 stars on the dial. Unfortunately it was more expensive, especially for a longines
Everything was going great until you said the bottom half of the bezel being titanium and that it would age and scratch over time , there it goes , that has totally ruined the watch for me . Couldn’t they have just made it fully in ceramic? 🤦♂️
I rather it age with time and show a life well lived. I don't know why some want a sterile ceramic bezel. Especially since the watch head and bracelet will show age but the bezel looks brand new. It just doesn't make sense
