I love the fact Rob has his Mom in the band. Brilliant. Only in the 70s. Great era for music, so varied....
Lieutenant Pigeon scored a further hit, in the autumn of 1974, when they reached number three in the Australian charts with a cover version of "I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen". Hilda lived to be 85!
I showed this to my neighbor Kathleen and she said to never speak to her again or ask her to watch anything again
Haha 😂
That's so sad she had that attitude with you she sounds like a weirdo to me. Great band. Great tune
I'm so sorry for you how she was with you. That's nasty
Ah the lovely Hilda.
God, those were the days when everybody rocked and it was music for musics sake.
A brilliant version of an old song, I love the echo on the drums AND VERY intersting hearing of your new album as it would have been then. A brilliant band indeed and how you were number 1 in the UK chart with Mouldy Old Doe during October 1972 which is to a classic as well as Desperate Dan and the others.
*dough ! 🤦🏼♂️
This band was genius
I'll never forget this! Thanks for posting.
I remember around late 1989/early 1990, ITV in the Granada region used part of this performance to advertise their 'Night Time' slot that broadcast after midnight and showed chat show 'Donahue' among other stuff and a guy called Phil Roman always read the news.
Them were the days.
I remember that too. Getting in from a nightclub at some ungodly hour, switching the telly on ( volume lowered) and seeing Lieutenant Pigeon in an advert for “Night time”.
love this tune, i`ve still git the 7 inch single ,
Bravo !
Dig those drums!🥁
In Deutschland sagten wir: Lt. Pigeon ist eine Dampfkapelle, die Dampfmusik macht. Very funny music.
Thus was the first I heard of this band and hear this song. I love it a lot. Im always becoming a big fan of lieutenant pigeon. And I love Hilda💜💜💜💜😍😍😍💖💖💖😁😁😁😄😄😄😀😀
That cheeky wink
A snatch of diesel sound turned up on one of their 45s, ROCKABILLY HOT POT (alas, a stranger to the charts). I can only wonder how many copies that LP sold!
The excellent LP to which the boys referred in their interview with Derek is available in all its glory here on TH-cam. Great recording of the 52s, evocative of their era with lots of other background sounds too.
If you are going to dismiss this recording, please dismiss it as "genius"...
Looks like thier school teacher is playing the piano or gran but I remember luetenant pigeon really well and had this vinal version and moldy dough.
A good old fashioned foot stomper
The one all the kids were buying! th-cam.com/video/31DTyA7fbj4/w-d-xo.html
Sorry but not a patch on their number one hit record now their typical just one hit wonders Lieutenant Pigeon.
They actually had two UK hits - the other was 'Desperate Dan' which made #17 and was the follow-up to their #1 hit 'Mouldy Old Dough'.
@@citizenseventies6738 Yes I vaguely remember that one so i had to look it up for a listen (Desperate Dan) that song was just awful and it sounded like they were trying to capture the hit formula of their first record and it did not work it got to 17 in the charts I would class that as a minor hit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Appreciated.
