Deepcool is a really good and helpful company. I got their GAMMAXX L240 V2 AIO cooler a while ago for my Intel system. Worked like a charm. When I switched to an AMD AM4 system more recently I had lost the brackets to the cooler. I got in touch with them and they were fantastic. For a few dollars postage only from China they posted to me in the UK the brackets. Now that's service. Still very happy with the performance of their product.
Same thing happened to me with one of their coolers. They weren't selling the am4 brackets anymore when I switched over, but their customer service hooked me up. 10/10 would recommend again
Lian Li is peerless regarding customer service. I had a Galahad 360 AIO which started to run a bit too hot for my taste. Fearing something was wrong (pump malfunction, liquid drying up). I contacted their support and they basically said got it, we'll ship you a new unit without the fans, postage paid for. Granted it took a while to arrive since it was shipped from Taiwan but that's exactly what I got a brand new unit minus the fans
I bought that assassin King like a month ago for about 30 dollars! I'm not surprised they bumped the price through. It's been working GREAT. Dropped like 15 degrees off the cpu in comparison to the stock cooler with my i5 7600. It's way quieter too
Good to see Deepcool on this channel. Love their latest products. I used to use the EK Waterblocks AIOs but Deepcool's Castle EXs were cheaper and look better imo. Didn't do any hardcore testing, but I'm happy with mine. The AS500 is really neat too, their flagship RGB air cooler currently.
DeepCool has been a hidden gem for years. I bought a DeepCool Lucifer V2 cpu cooler back in 2014 and it's been cooling a 4690k@4.6GHz for 8 years. No issues. Fan still going strong. Cpu under heavy gaming load (3+ hours) never exceeds 61c. And it was only like $35-40 then?
Not even the big chongus Lucifer V2 was enough to cool my old FX-9590, lol Man I love that cooler, too bad I couldn't get an adapter for my new Ryzen, the Assassin III is my new favorite though
It China company, not from Taiwan. So you should know why it feel hidden somewhere around. They are very prominence in Asian market but out of sight in North America market.

I would be pretty interested in seeing how the ID-Cooling SE-214-XT holds up. For a $20 pricepoint, it seems to be in an interesting bracket for what it purports to offer. ID-Cooling has proven to be surprisingly competent with a lot of their other products, so it would be nice to see that continue.
@@nathanlarson6535 I have the and I think its a little better or par with the hyper 212, definitely better value since CM jacked up the prices of the 212.
I've got one in my current PC. It performs shockingly well for the price and I think it looks better than most any other single tower cooler on the market. It will never cease to amaze me how ID-Cooling is able to offer so much for only $20 especially in this day and age when everything seems to be steadily increasing in price. Eagerly awaiting the review on this one.
I just put the AK400 on my 5800X3D and I like it so far. I removed the pre-applied thermal compound, and instead used Kryonaut Extreme. I also replaced the stock fan with a BeQuiet 120MM High Speed PWM Silent Wings 4 due to personal preference since I'm using BeQuiet fans in the rest of my setup. I have yet to hit any thermal issues in gaming, but I could still add a second fan if necessary. The BeQuiet fan does have a higher max speed at 2500rpm than the stock DeepCool fan, so that is likely helping things. No clearance issues using a Lian Li 205 mesh case, a ROG Strix B550-XE Gaming board with 4 sticks of G.Skill Trident Z Neo RGB RAM.
Be advised, Kryonaut Extreme is not meant for long term use. It’s for XOC users that are using LN2. The paste is pretty thin and will pump out quickly. Regular Kryonaut or even Hydronaut (I use this one) is a much better choice.
I remember buying 2 years ago for around 70€ discounted on amazon a deepcool cooler (the one w the 2 fans) to cool my 5950x and i gotta say, after 2 years of using it, it kept everything cool and it was good for streaming w noise levels GG deepcool
Steve, it's great to see you reviewing products like the AK400 -- it's always great to watch a review from you, and especially on the more 'midrange' variations, if I can say so, as not everyone would be looking to build the highest end systems, or the lower end on that matter. Looking forward for more similar content, not necessarily coolers, of course.
I'd like to suggest some coolers to be reviewed: ID-Cooling SE-224-XT, ID-Cooling SE-207-XT Advanced, Thermalright FS-140, Thermalright FC-140, and Thermalright PA-120.
I bought the AK400 when it first came out because it was $30 at Newegg. I run it on an i3-1200F which is probably overkill, but it’s silent, easy to mount and great thermals
Recently I started building custom computers and these reviews are so helpful in showing what kind of parts I have to look at for different builds and different prices. Thank you!
I have the "even cheaper" version of AK400, named AG400 Plus, for around $20-23. And then slapped in two Scythe Wondersnails to replace the stock fans, it worked like wonder on my 5800X3D. In Cinebench R23 (30 mins run), the highest temp I get when stress testing inside a room with 26 degrees of Ambient temp is only 85 degrees, without any throttling. And when I undervolt it to 50 mV, it never even reaches the 80s (77.5 degrees is the highest temp I get when stress testing for 30 mins).
Did a 12600k build with this cooler for my cousin. Kept the 12600k under 80C drawing ~120W full tilt in CB when we were validating the UV+OC. At $50 Canadian, it's so much nicer than a Hyper 212...especially the mounting.
Hey man I know it’s been a while since you posted this comment but I would appreciate it a ton if you share how the AK400 works for your brother’s 12600k in the long run
A bunch of friends are hoping for me to build them a sub $500 1080P gaming rigs so this kind of budget oriented stuff is so incredibly appreciated! Thanks for the amazing content.
@@cl4ssic Consoles often end up costing more long run than a budget pc in my experience. Pc game stores often have better discounts and you save money not having to pay to use your own internet. This won't be true dor everyone though
I'd be really interested to see how the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO stacks up in your review. The 212 EVO is probably one of the most popular cheap air coolers on the market.
Would like to see where these stack up. The TR Assassin King 120 SE (direct contact copper heat pipe), or the TR Assassin King 120 Black, both single tower coolers with 5 heatpipes. Also, the Scythe Fuma 2 now has a Rev. B variant that has higher fan speed up to 1500rpm giving much improved performance, and is changed to a dark color.
Would be cool to have the Snowman cooler in there, see how it does compared to these more expensive coolers ( snowman is like 20 usd, probally got a bit more expensive recently like everything else)
Here I am looking to buy this CPU. And not only does Steve review it lovely, he even uses my motherboard for the installation. Thank you Mystic Meg Steve.
I use the Fuma 2 on my Ryzen 3700x and is totally inaudible while I never had to worry about temperature. I recommended to all my friends, hands down the best Value For Money and Cooling For Noise CPU cooler. At it looks great if you don't care about its lack of RGB
this one is half the price atm if not more so buyed it why spend 70e on fuma whne you can buy nocta d15 for almost the same a 45 50 55 fuma haed been worth it
I would love to see some tests of the cooler designs in isolation of the fans. Ex: Take one noctua A12X25 and mount it to each cooler, If it will take 2 fans try one then both. Once you have your benchmarks compare it to stock and see if swapping fans makes a significant difference. Then we can see what cooler is best and put whatever fans we want on it to go with our build.
I concur! Would love to see this also. I'm curious whether you could save money by buying the cheapest tower and swapping in better fans to get high performance. I'm also curious how average case fans compare to these average cooler fans.
If this was done, I would hope to see the rankings organized by the price of the cooler + the price of the new fan, since a builder would probably need to buy both. I suspect for a budget cooler the improvement is not significant enough to justify the cost of a new fan.
Kind of a academic exercise. If you plan to put on some other fans on the heatsink, the overall costs are rising very fast very high. It would be cheaper to buy a better(more expensive) cooler with better fans included in the first place.
I can recommend this channel: th-cam.com/users/MachinesMorevideos While the guy covers mostly SFF cases and stuff, he also did some testing of coolers or AiOs with different fans.
@@vollhorst140 if you buy the heatsink new, then i agree. But what if you already own the heatsink and replacing it with another will get more expensive, than just swapping the fan(s)?

20:26 or an R5 5600x @ 4.75GHz (locked on all cores) and 1.3V. So pleased i bought a couple of these to upgrade an old Arctic Freezer F12 in my server and one of my current desktop when I built it. I've been buying Arctic products for ~ 20 years at this point. So much value for money imo.
I just replace my failing 2 yrs old Lian Li Galahad 240 AIO with a deepcool ak400. on a i5-10400 i couldnt be happier. i was regularly hitting 80-100 Celsius with the Lian li Galahad. Now that i have an air cooled AK400. Its WAYYYY belter and WAY quieter. I recommend this 40 dollar cooler over the 130 dollar AIO any day!!!
Running the AK400 with a 13600k in a NR200P on stock clocks, and don't notice any throttling. Even gaming at 1440p the damn thing keeps chuggin. THe only time I notice it get a bit toasty is on R23 multicore tests and it'll spike to 90C, at which time, i immediately kill the test. Awesome SFF gaming cooler for the price.
Good content. I appreciate the full speed test results being included because for high noise environments the CPU cooler isn't going to make a dent in the ambient noise of a factory floor
Same here, my 5600X is only 47C over ambient in the Cinebench all core test. It should have been in this test simply because so many people own them already.
My roommate just bought a Deepcool Gammax 400 to cool his brand new 5800x when he builds it. He wanted white, and didn't want to deal with an AIO. Let's see how well it cools in his room, because his current PC dumps a _load_ of heat into the air.
There's a Polish company who produces quite a bunch of interesting looking coolers and cases. They're quite popular in many EU countries. Brand name is SilentiumPC. You ever thought about getting your hands on one of their products and reviewing them, Steve?
I’ve got the revision B on my i9 10900k. Had to undervolt a bit, but it handles 180 watts sustained average load on a 30 minute stress test and never goes above 80 degrees. Dang good cooler, and inaudible over the case fans. It was able to handle the insane MCE 280 watt load stress test without throttling but at an uncomfortable 95 degrees. 280 watts sustained is a bit too much for the cooler. But anything under 200 watts sustained and it’ll handle it nicely.
@@AM1N4L the only difference I can find between the fuma 2 and the revision B is the fans, so if you want a revision B just slap the revised fans on the existing cooler! It seems like the fans really turn the cooler from a good silent option to a good everything option. I kinda wish I bought more scythe fans for my case, they put my Corsair ones to shame.
I picked up the same model Thermalright Assassin for $21 on amazon. I decided to go for a Noctua Redux Fan on that cooler and it's a been a great combo.
Well, in my case I'm over-clocking an AMD 8core/16thread CPU pretty "aggressively" and I bought a BeQuiet Dark Star II fan for $40 (on sale) on Amazon and took care of my issues! This is a HUGE 120mm fan and reduced my temps BIG-TIME and have NO CPU temp issues anymore over a "stock" cooler! I'm NOW able to "force" ALL CPU cores at 100% instead of just using the "default" (2) cores and made a HUGE difference in load-times and gaming performance and NEVER hit over 70C CPU in temp on a "max" scenario! PLUS, easy install which took less than 10min! Also, it came pre-loaded with thermal paste on the sink so it was NOTHING to install!
I really wanted to upgrade from stock amd cooler to a stand up air cooler. I went to best buy and they had one stand up air cooler for 50 bucks. They also had a Thermaltake 120 mm AIO on sale for 60 bucks. I went with the aio, there are probably more things I needed to plug in, but I am very happy I found such a good deal. I'm running at 24 degrees Celsius at idle with a R2600. Cinebench only gets it up to 55 degrees where the stock cooler went up to 92 degrees.
While not this cooler, the Deepcool Captain 120 AIO is the only AIO I have ever owned that hasn't failed. Still running strong after almost 8 years. I personally have yet to be disappointed by a Deepcool product.
Couple of years back, my ex-girlfriend thought some Chinese letters looked really beautiful, so she copied them and had it tattooed on her arm. Turned out the words read, "Cheap but good."
I’ve been using this very old akasa venom Medusa cooler for years now, I want to say 9-10 years now. I might even have new mounting solutions machined for it when I upgrade to a newer socket, just so I can say I still use it.
Though currently using the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 AIO, I'm always looking to see if air coolers could come close enough to match it in cooling. Keep up the great work, Gamers Nexus. 💙
The fan being slightly concave is great. It means it can be mounted closer to the front of the case and not make contact. Its no benefit to speeds or throughput, but a clever way to reduce potential noise and increase longevity.
I would love to see the LC-Power LC-CC-120 next! It is a bestseller in Europe as it only costs about 23€. The LC-CC-95 is also very popular as it performs very well for just under 13€. :)
thanks guys for the review, you are the best, I want to make suggestion for a cooler but, youtube bots keep removing my comments, but, it's ok I think you already have that cooler in your studio
I think it would be fascinating to see a test with a cooler that is super dusty. And then everyone will start cleaning their coolers more often probably.
I live in Peru and here there are not too many fancy brands like noctua and be quiet, on the other hand deep cool has quite a market share and having an option like ak400 is really good
@@dounhi algo como el del video, un deepcool ak400, artic freezer 34 e sports duo, cooler master hyper 212 evo, cualquiera de esos de sobra para el 5600x
after watching your recommendation I bought Arctic Freezer 34 Esportz Duo when my NZXT Kraken M22 started overheating with 80W heatload (it was fine for the entire year, and then suddenly it just couldn't do it), now it's cooling my i9 9900 just fine at even 200W
One thing to consider also is the warranty on the products, the Deepcool is being sold with a 3 year warranty when the Arctic is being sold with a 10!! year warranty.
The prices on coolers are so weird to me because they seem to fluctuate wildly. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 can currently be found for as little as ~$20 here in Sweden. I'm pretty sure many 4 heat pipe 120mm fan coolers from well know brands are fairly equal in performance and you should just get whichever one is on sale at any given moment if you're looking for a budget solution.
Compared to you the 212s have always been $40 USD or more here in the US. I often see models go for around $50 and some dual fan ones are well over $75 for a bare copper pipe look with two fans. That's basically a very good Scythe cooler money and you could include RGB into that if you wanted it.They are way overpriced for what they are. I rather buy an no name brand than waste that kind of money for budget builds.
Adding a fan makes minimal difference from what I have seen. I looked at adding one, but might as well buy a better cooler at that point, which I am doing after Hardware Canucks video on the Assassin.
Arctic, Deepcool and Thermal Right air coolers doing good work for the price, Freezer 34duo keeps bouncing from $35 to $50 in my region(mexico, usa and canada) one only needs to keep track of of the lower price.
I know they did test it. I remember it was "Fine" and "I don't hate it". I bought one after that when I saw one for $25. I haven't used it yet but I looked it over and it's well made, except the fan is on the cheap side. I just this morning bought a Deep Cool Burst Assassin ARGB for $24.42 on Amazon. It's superior in that it's 6 heatpipes and has a nickel plated solid copper cold plate for better contact than direct contact designs. I'm sure this is a sale so it won't stay that price long.
Be Quiet! also has nice coolers. Was hoping to see them in this round up... Edit: I know it says "cheap coolers" but you're also comparing to Noctua and Scythe, so might as well include Be Quiet! Maybe it doesn't work with your methodology because they don't produce 35dB(A) 😜
I have always used, only Noctua fans. The Noctua case fans and the upgraded Noctua PSU fan, have always been hard mounted tightly with screws. Never have I experienced any vibrations whatsoever, from my mini-tower builds!
Great job as always and it's awesome to see competition move the market. I'd really love to see the Bequiet Dark Rock pro 4. I'm sure it on the list with other Bequiet coolers. Keep up the great work.
For an i5-12400 my deepcool gammaxx 400 V2 is doing great job keeping idle temp under 30 and max. Load temp (@85watt) under 65 and also very silent overall, I hear ac sound in my room and not cpu fan, only if ac is off then i hear mild cpu sound that too when load is above 60%, otherwise whisper quite
If you like that you should check out the Noctua Chromax radiator covers in white and black. They look very nice. I would have gone with that but my case is too small for the cooler height by a few mms. This was the closest i could find that fit and it saved me some money.

So, water cooling is absolutely unecessary for processor like AMD 5700X?
As far as I can tell it's only cheaper because it lacks the case for the fins. Are there any other differences besides RGB?

Bought AK400 for my i5 12400F three weeks ago, 55-60C in BF2042, NFS Heat (very CPU intensive game) up to 64C. This cooler is very quiet, i love it)
Did a 12600k build with this cooler for my cousin.
At that price you should buy a CPU with a box cooler and use it. Spending even $30 on a cooler is too much.
Yeah just get something with a low tdp

I'd be really interested to see how the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO stacks up in your review. The 212 EVO is probably one of the most popular cheap air coolers on the market.
I just bought this cooler for my 13700F. For what I do on my PC this cooler has been amazing. With moderate gaming this cooler keeps temps below 65C.
This is where I ask why the Hyper 212 is missing from the chart because so many people already own one.
Just got a Vetroo V5 for my 5600 build. It is amazing.
I have the same cooler and It's awesome!
I so much prefer air to liquid cooling. Awesome video.
I got the AK400 recently. Absolutely slaps
Nope, still around ~20$ (depends on options like RGB\1 or 2 fans, mount point)
Here I am looking to buy this CPU. And not only does Steve review it lovely, he even uses my motherboard for the installation. Thank you Mystic Meg Steve.
I’ve seen coolers like this for $25 which is amazing. Have you guys considered looking at smaller coolers, like 92mm or low profile?
No
I would really love for you guys to review the DEEPCOOL AS500 PLUS, it includes 2 140mm fans and definitely deserves some attention!
I can recommend this channel: th-cam.com/users/MachinesMorevideos
While the guy covers mostly SFF cases and stuff, he also did some testing of coolers or AiOs with different fans.
@@vollhorst140 if you buy the heatsink new, then i agree. But what if you already own the heatsink and replacing it with another will get more expensive, than just swapping the fan(s)?

I'll stick with my cooler master hyper evo 212 for the foreseeable future. These new coolers do seem to work quite well though.
Same here, my 5600X is only 47C over ambient in the Cinebench all core test. It should have been in this test simply because so many people own them already.
You know, when Steve gives ur product a 5/10, its golden and probably worth buying haha.
I have SilentiumPC Fera 5 cooler on my R5 5600x and it's really good.
Great review as always, the scythe fuma 2 will probably be my next upgrade. Seems like a damn fine cooler!
I use the Rev. B on my 5800X3D. I legitimately don't know why people say this chip runs hot, the Fuma does that good a job.
ive been using fuma 2 for 1 year now, still reliable + silence.
@@legostarwarsrulez Wow. Definitely getting it.

peerless assassin 120 se cost less than 20 usd in China. Insane value. Had a friend bringing me one, got to say fans and coolers are so cheap there .
Need to review the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 ... its a hard deal to beat at less than $50, seems like. I freaking love mine.
Really impressed with the Cooler Master Hyper 212. Keeping my OC'd 3800X cool with one fan. Another fan on the way.
What are your temperatures with the 212?
Adding a fan makes minimal difference from what I have seen. I looked at adding one, but might as well buy a better cooler at that point, which I am doing after Hardware Canucks video on the Assassin.
