15:58 The best part about ASUS's warranty shenanigans is watching the Microcenter employees include it in their pitch for the extended warranties. Nothing says "you oofed up" like Microcenter sales associates bringing up your failings as a way to pitch product insurance.
Facts when I went to microcenter for the ryzen 7 7800x3d rx 7900 xt bundle with the asus tuf b650-e wifi mobo the cashier reminded me that even if I didn't think I needed it would be smart because of asus being asus. While the mobo in-question is just a bog-standard medium-end am5 motherboard and isn't particularily bad or good in any way really worth noting from personal experience it does make me wary.
@@Dragnullsyeah. Imo when your spending that much on tech at micro center. Just get their warranty. It’s worth it. I got a 4090 from them that technically was like 4 days out of warranty (website said I had another 2 weeks but apparently it was wrong date) but they still refunded me (the gpu kept basically cutting everything off even when properly plugged in etc, just was defective sadly
I can think of one thing that says "you oofed up" more, Microcenter advertising their stores as if they're a worldwide chain when they barely have any stores in the US. Unless you live in California or the southeast coast, you're never going to Microcenter. They simply don't exist. Also you're still being taken for a ride if you buy the third party insurance/warranties because they'll deny your claims even faster than ASUS will.
@mjc0961 1. That is how most companies advertise things. 2. Their store spread isn't that bad, and isn't even concentrated in those areas. It's mostly the northeastern corner. I spent some time drawing a 5-6 hour distance line, and only the northwestern corner and the desert area are outside of that range. Most of that area can be covered with 2 new stores: 1 in Phoenix/Albequerque and 1 in Boise.
The shout out to Gordon was grand! He was a guru many of us loved to hear. I heard him from the early 90's on up when he had hair!😁 He will be missed!😢
Ubisoft will just have to get comfortable with people no longer giving them money, (especially for bad products and services). That's a transformation that's been a bit slower to happen [in games]. So it's about feeling comfortable with going broke because of arrogance and poor executive decisions.
Said the quiet part out loud. Modern games seems like an infinite gift shops to sell you DLCs and if you're lucky you might get a little decent gameplay. Not just Ubisift. The latest CoD doesn't have a link to play the campaign on the main menu. Which, I only played because it was included with Gamepass. Which, I only got because I got 3 free months with a laptop. Still sucks.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft is only the first domino to fall because they were always the smallest fish of the big fishes. When this reaches Activision and EA, then things are really turning around.
Finally bought a t-shirt for the store to show my support. Thank you Steve and the rest of the team. Thank you for being on the side of the consumer. This is honestly my favorite tech information yt channel. Happy new year!
The best thing about the disappointment build, is to remember that tech companies need to be held accountable for their products and actions. No level of fanboying is enough to believe a company can do no wrong. Companies want you to forget their blunders and hope to not be exposed for their shady practices. This is why the tech community is the best at calling out BS when they see it. Or in NZXT’s case…subscribe to it. Excellent work GN team!
Or Nintendo takeing down emulators and abusing patents since palworld originally had a machanic that had you been able to trow the ball but now that was removed and replaced by the inferior way of your pals spawning next to you
I would this to be true...but many fanboys of many companies out there (some of them managing even news websites) demonstrate that there is no end to human stupidity...
I’m a new subscriber sorta, and I just wanted to let you know, Steve, these are hands down, the best put together videos in this “genre” of videos. I know you have a team too, so I credit them as well. Happy New Year 🫡
GN remains a titan in customer representation and holding the corporations' feet to the fire. They are going full tilt testing hardware and traveling around the world interviewing executives. We honestly can't thank them enough for the service they provide for us. If any channel/company deserves to be 100% viewer supported it's GN.
Vince Agosta is awesome. Provided he feels charitable and/or GN can afford it, him getting screen time whenever the topic at hand suggests it should become a staple.
@ No, I don’t work for Gamers Nexus, though that would be a dream job. If GN had a job opportunity like testing GPUs for 48 hours straight, I’d jump at the chance to do it full-time
Thanks for all the deep dives and effort into keeping companies honest in 2024. To a better 2025. Happy new years to all the GN Crew. Also the production effort that does into these is insane. Epic intro as usual :)
Hey Ubisoft- You mention DVD's & CD's, I should let you know I know TONS of people that pirate all the time since you took the ownership from them. They used to happily pay for stuff, now they barely ever give the money over on "official services".
This is the biggest reason steam keeps winning. Steam knows the competition is literally free. Steam provides services and conveniences that make it worth paying for instead of pirating. Everyone else is trying to compete with steam and completely missing why steam wins
When Ubisoft told us , " Gamers should get comfortable not owning their games ", we gamers transitioned to non-buynary for Ubisoft products, telling these people, " Ubisoft CEO should get comfortable not owning his company " . And yes, they are in financial trouble now.
Happy new year to the whole crew. Awesome intro! I'm waiting for a response of all the parts manufacturers of the PC, doubling down and calling you confused.
Awesome video as usual. Can I just say Wendell at 19:07 was my favourite moment of the year. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to replay it another thousand times
That 50 series hurt the gpu market so bad, but there'll be even way less people buying that would be attracted by the amount of power draw that damn GPU maxes out to.
The lack of increases VRAM on all but the 5090 + the ridiculous pricing is terrible, and we have AMD changing their naming scheme and seemingly doing what they did with the RX5000 series is really disappointing, plus it doesn't look like Intel will attempt to offer anything close to Nvidia's 80/90 class GPUs. Real depressing market.
I really appreciate the integrity that you've shown throughout the year (and well before it). In a world where everything is trying to turn into extortionate subscription fees - your toothbrush included - it's nice to see companies get called out for the BS that it is and to see you make people aware that this is happening.
I appreciate that you still do call out the good (and "meh") things before the bad ones. It's easy to just ride the engagement wave on full-on drama with no brakes nor perspective whatsoever, but even such a small preface should remind people why you are actually spending your time to talk about all this.
Thanks for all the great content in 2024 GN! I also really liked the style of this video, and can't wait to see what the future holds for the channel. Happy new year to you and the team.
Im really sure that thanks to you guys I got my Rog Ally serviced for free after buying one and sending it to warranty because one of the joysticks wasn't properly attached and moved sometimes, they actually not only did swap the joystick out but they swapped the whole motherboard and cooling solutions because they found it would cause problems in the long run for the micro sd card and the overall cooling of the machine, all for free. I only asked for a joystick replacement so it was a huge surprise they went above and beyond (maybe they just didnt want to deal with it later). Thanks again for your work guys!

@@IncognitoActivado when I am switching an entire platform it makes more sense, for me, to go with the newest socket. Right now the 9800x3D with the x670 makes a good combo that should last another 5 years
just because i got to the xDefiant section right now, the whole "content released to the players" was out of the developers working on the game and not ubisoft (the developers worked against ubisoft after them deciding they want to kill xdefiant) but also the devs of xdefiant were weeks ahead of their development so they had majority of seasons content already finished and prepared before releasing them in upcoming seasons, so what they did instead was push it out with what should be pushed out (even if sadly very few things are still a bit broken)

The 3D intro could use improvements though but if it was under crunch it's understandable. Some effects could've been polished; or could just be the 3D/vfx enthusiast in me hyper focusing on it. Regardless it doesn't take away from the overall video. Absolute slammer, as usual!
I'm sorry I can't support you financially at this time, but i wanted to show my appreciation of the awesome job that you guys constantly do. Hope I can bounce back and make some donations or purchases. Back to you Steve.
@mjc0961 have you ever been to a microcenter? When I had an issue with my motherboard, they just straight-up replaced the thing, no questions asked.
@@originalscreenname44 EA made some great stuff in the past. Now, it's another company I won't touch.
I probably will dabble in ac shadows.

Or Nintendo takeing down emulators and abusing patents since palworld originally had a machanic that had you been able to trow the ball but now that was removed and replaced by the inferior way of your pals spawning next to you
I would this to be true...but many fanboys of many companies out there (some of them managing even news websites) demonstrate that there is no end to human stupidity...
happy new year steve!
Happy new year! Day 9892 of you not getting Nintendo's attention...

hilarious intro, Andrew bringing GN to the next level with those animations! Also love the shout outs and past footage. Happy New year!
The Thanks Steve meme never dissapoints. Appreciate all the hard work you all put in to bring us good content, hoping 2025 will be good.
For everything you guys have done in 2024, from the bottom of my heart,
Thanks Steve
Back to you, Steve
I’m a new subscriber sorta, and I just wanted to let you know, Steve, these are hands down, the best put together videos in this “genre” of videos. I know you have a team too, so I credit them as well. Happy New Year 🫡
Thank you! I'll share with the team. We really appreciate it and it means a lot! Happy new year!
This was one of the most well done, captivating, and creative intros I have ever seen on this channel. Stellar work.
Nice! I was about to be disappointed by the intro, but then the old styleone started. That was a great combo!
Happy New Year!
I was disappointed by the NZXT PC being carefully set down inside a clean trash bag.
The intro was absolutely flawless whoever crafted it deserves a 500% raise! It couldn’t have been more perfectly executed. 2:45
Do you work for GN? 🤨
(If so, great work!👌)
@ No, I don’t work for Gamers Nexus, though that would be a dream job. If GN had a job opportunity like testing GPUs for 48 hours straight, I’d jump at the chance to do it full-time
Awesome ..thanks GN
And all the best for '25
Thanks for all the deep dives and effort into keeping companies honest in 2024. To a better 2025. Happy new years to all the GN Crew.
Also the production effort that does into these is insane. Epic intro as usual :)
Hey Ubisoft- You mention DVD's & CD's, I should let you know I know TONS of people that pirate all the time since you took the ownership from them. They used to happily pay for stuff, now they barely ever give the money over on "official services".
neat
This is the biggest reason steam keeps winning.
Steam knows the competition is literally free.
Steam provides services and conveniences that make it worth paying for instead of pirating.
Everyone else is trying to compete with steam and completely missing why steam wins
When Ubisoft told us , " Gamers should get comfortable not owning their games ", we gamers transitioned to non-buynary for Ubisoft products, telling these people, " Ubisoft CEO should get comfortable not owning his company " . And yes, they are in financial trouble now.
If purchasing is not ownership, then piracy is not theft. Yarr, weigh anchor and hoist the mains'l me hearties! Set course for the Bay!
@@iamcxd9782 Gaben D is so good huh?
Props to the animation and video editing guy(s) that intro was fucking dope

Real depressing market.
intro is a cinematic masterpiece
So so SOOOO thankful for you guys! Standing up for the voiceless consumer and calling out corporate bullshit is a lost art these days.
You can speak Mandarin, wow. That's impressive. Happy New Year.
Keep up your excellent work, Steve and team. Happy new year and all the best!!

Good job man!!! Happy for you!
I’m down 30. Feels awesome.
Reports of positive experiences like yours are just as valuable as reports of negative experiences, so thank you for sharing.

Thanks to GN I switched my PC build this year to a 9800X3D after running Intel for 16 years. Really appreciate all the investigations you do and the testing you perform. Thanks for standing up for the customers and employees of these companies who seem to keep getting screwed. "Thanks, Steve!"
Yeah GN was a big reason I went AMD this build (upgrading from a 8700K to a 7800X3D). And boy am I glad.
The 5800X3D is more reasonable.
@@IncognitoActivado when I am switching an entire platform it makes more sense, for me, to go with the newest socket. Right now the 9800x3D with the x670 makes a good combo that should last another 5 years
@@mrq1 the x670 is for ddr5 and crappy cpus; not worth it.
just because i got to the xDefiant section right now, the whole "content released to the players" was out of the developers working on the game and not ubisoft (the developers worked against ubisoft after them deciding they want to kill xdefiant) but also the devs of xdefiant were weeks ahead of their development so they had majority of seasons content already finished and prepared before releasing them in upcoming seasons, so what they did instead was push it out with what should be pushed out (even if sadly very few things are still a bit broken)
Thank you for the fun year GN. I built my 2nd PC this year(with the Havn case, and 9800X3D!!) and so I'm glad there were actual new good products to use since my old rig(with the good ol gtx1060) was really struggling with games lately.

@@GSBarlev I dropped them years before all that because I was sick of watching more ads than actual video content. Linus couldn't even review a very expensive CPU that AMD bought him for free without shilling his overpriced boxers. Unsubscribed...
I tried posting a tip but youtube removed it because I mentioned consumer protection?- it was: GN needs a GN -styled trash-can that they can throw the inferior products into as a clear marking as of how bad they are, Sweden has a mythical Consumer-protector-Saint, Sverker Olofsson that did much of what you do until the corpo powers that be ended his segment, you need to pick up his trash can and drop the worst offenders in the can as a marking of what is a trash product for the end user.

TH-cam censorship is really _random_.
