Yeah I definitely don't like that they use cheap red switches for the less used switches. During the sound test I could instantly tell something was wrong when you went to press the top F-row compared to the normal switches. Much higher pitched sounding on the red switches. It does sound a lot better overall though than the old one for sure.
Joe realize I was waiting like crazy for the new gmmk 3 he. And to my surprise, they used the cheapest in house red switched with magnets. 209eur / 200$. Wtf glorious?
According to some guys with know how talking bout this board, they mentioned it has the same issues the 2023 model had. Several issues actually. Id read about it. I like it, but needs a better review indepth.

No need for expensive and looking too much into specs and tech stuff. Does it have WSAD keys? OK, but that one What I kvke baut the azoth is the feel quality, but... The only reason the price was justified is the battery life and low latency in games on wireless.
One thing that i can say is that, being a user of a Razer Huntsman V2, the Steelseries' PBT font is extraordinary because the RGB shine through very brightly. Despite the Razer's PBT ones being awful lol
I'll stick with my 2023 version. the sound of the keyboard is already enough for me and the performance is amazing. definitely a good alternative to the wooting.
@@stonie8629 I can understand the pricing because of the integrated screen and UI for that, but it seems kinda useless to me personally. On my wooting I can hit FN + Enter and it switches the keyboard layer to an entirely different profile with rapid trigger and all the other settings I want for gaming, then hit FN + Enter again to switch back to a typing profile for normal browsing. You would never see me adjusting my rapid trigger actuation point on the keyboard with the screen.

@@IStratz As someone who owns the full size Apex 7 (but not using it anymore), the screen is borderline useless. It is much more intuitive to set everything you need via their application all at once and once that is done, the screen is used only for displaying gifs or static text (it's also a very very cheap screen with burn in happening in the matter of days of purchase). In the best case scenario, which didn't happen to me, you can maybe find some community made function tied to your favorite game but even then, it's a small info screen on your keyboard, not really a good placement for anything while you are playing. Heck, I couldn't find even the properly functional volume slider animation tied to the wheel. My point is, the price of that gimmick shouldn't fall on us the consumers.
I've got the 2023 model. I kinda wish I got the mini. I don't ever use the right side buttons. Having never used a Wooting or any of the others that now have customized actuation, can't say it's better but I am enjoying this keyboard. The fact I can walk into a store and get it and not have to get in line and wait for it to ship was a big part of the purchasing decision. No complaints. The software suite could be less bloated, but it works.
Mate once you lubed it, it genuinely sounded like a custom keyboard or sm 😭🙏, out of a gaming keyboard focused on performance instead of sound that’s insane

Iordered the new GMMK 3 HE only to realize it has NOT got the Snap tap/SOCD function, only rapid trigger. I immediately cancelled my order and got this.
BTW, these past 3 weeks I realized its super hard to get a kb which has alu build, rapid trigger, snap tap/SOCD, volume knob/scroll, arrow keys, has non obtrusive SW, and is available in good options and regions for a good price. I literally found this kb, thats all. Razer huntsman v3 pro or blackwidow v4 pro? SW from hell. Wooting? No arrows or knob. The keychron Q1 HE still not out here in my country, and will be definitely 230$ here, which is the price of the apex here. I could order and in 6 weeks get the wooting 80he, but has no volume. If one wants only RT and ST and is good with 60%, well,,,60he or any kb actually with the tech

SOCD/rapid tap/snap tap/last win....is the same thing. 99.999% of gamers, if even, use it for A and D key to have this gapless strafing, which many call cheating. I have a 2018 ducky one 2 mini and I have it too. How? just executed a simple gapless scrip via notepad. SOCD, to my knowledge, any kb can have, as its software, not hardware based. Rapid Trigger, RT, on other hand is software AND hardware dependent. Rapid Trigger is something Wooting pioneered. SOCD not. Actually, wooting applied SOCD after some other companies did it first. To me, RT is more important than SOCD/snap tap anyway. So if you a strafing csgo noop, just use a script on ANY kb. for rapid trigger, you need to buy a HE kb to get it proper, or a mechanical but thats not as good. Maybe I'm wrong. We are basically talking ms here, about how fast a key press activated (actuation) and moving sideways with AD keys. Its kinda simple. And it wont make you a better player per se

I got it too, and definitely like the sound. I mainly got it to match up with my Aerox 5 mouse and qck mousepad. I wish every switch was the magnetic but oh well.

I found the keys too heavy on the old apex so that's a hard no from me. Also, the amount of key wobble and cheap typing feel in general was pretty much unforgivable. I was really pissed off at myself for spending so much on such a trashy feeling keyboard. I ended up just going back to my old Leopold board which is less than half the price whilst feeling infinitely better in terms of quality and typing feel.
The price is no better or worse than any other kb with similar features. SteelSeries makes good stuff for the most part. I have zero experience with their mice though and was wondering is the AEROX 5 wireless is as good as anything from Razer, Logitech etc.

Same with protection mode, idk if that's unique to the 2024 one because it seems like it's just doable through firmware. Basically seems like the exact same keyboard if I'm being honest.

@@netoisthebest Yeah, I saw now a comment furtherr down from The Techne and it sounds on him that the previous versions before gen 3 were not hotswappable. The other difference which was said in the video is that the gen 3 uses new switches (I think they mainly have less wobble and sound different perhaps because of it) but maybe they still use similarly weighted springs.
Except this has a lot more features both hardware (media controls, screen, metal faceplate) and software wise (auto swap profiles), magnetic wrist rest and is a TKL not a 65. I still think it's overpriced but it's probably a better buy than the wooting 80he for 90% of consumers, which is really its direct competitor, it's also the same price if you opt to buy a wrist rest from wooting which is just a slab of silicone and not magnetic, $20 cheaper if you don't.

I have the 2023 wireless version and it was riddled with software problems from the keyboard not exiting sleep when clicked, to completely losing the paired connection with the dongle and being unable to function wirelessly. The GG engine firmware updater even bricked 2 keyboards by freezing while updating but warranty thankfully covered their replacement. I was hoping to find out if they ironed out the problems in the gen 3 but I'm guessing that them making a new version only a year later means they did realize the old one had issues that needed to be addressed.
Very odd for them to penny pinch the switches on the keyboard. Never saw a company do that before. Pretty lame by Steelseries. Plus you can remove the ompoint ones but not the red switches? lol steelseries you just lost a buyer.
Techne you almost lost my respect with this one. Steel series software is shit, on keyboard stuffs takes too long to adjust with that tiny screen. At $200+ you need to add your own lube? How's is that fine ?
I have Steelseries 2023 model and steelseries sells this product even on its own site when selling this product 0.1mm-4.0mm working distance does not work properly 0.1mm does not work 0.1mm does not work, the keys are spamming, what is the difference from the 2022 model? The funny thing is that there is no RGB Creation, no RGB Memory saving (RGB does not change without GG), so many Software problems, despite the RGB Problem, they release keyboards every year instead of fixing them, if they were sold in my country, I would buy woothing directly.

That sucks you can’t change the rbg mode through the keyboard’s oled screen now, but you can still change it through the software app though right?

I know some people that play fortnite with the arrow keys and the key on the right so this id s huge disadvantage

Steelseries put a foam and make it hotswap and there is a new keyboard. LOL steelseries. You can do better that that.

Techne you almost lost my respect with this one. Steel series software is shit, on keyboard stuffs takes too long to adjust with that tiny screen. At $200+ you need to add your own lube? How's is that fine ?
I have Steelseries 2023 model and steelseries sells this product even on its own site when selling this product 0.1mm-4.0mm working distance does not work properly 0.1mm does not work 0.1mm does not work, the keys are spamming, what is the difference from the 2022 model?
