The reason he says "one of the good ones" is that in the interview prior to the song, when they are discussing John Peel, Nick Cave says John Peel was.... "one of the good ones" - Jools Holland is making a reference to that, not the other bands
Greatest live band ever. Thankyou for uploading this. Man if only more bands and vocalists took their art this far. We'd have a much more beautiful world. :)
He actually shows up all or most of the acts that have followed him and tried to copy his performances. What a unique showman, bright, witty, energetic and seminal. Hard to replace.!!!
Woo-hoo! Tix to see Grinderman at Meredith. Wasn't going to go until heard they were playing. Gonna be a damn fine weekend in Oztrailia. Plus he's always here at Xmas to see his mum - she lives up the road
Great post... Thanks - love this band... moments ago, stumbled upon a Marianne Faithful, Nick Cave rendition of the Crane Wife (III) (tas mostly MF vocals) - it made me go back and see if this was available... thanks again.
Mmmmmm I do like this song, but one thing.....JUST ONE THING! Johnny Thunders didn't write Chinese Rocks. That acclaim can only go to Richard Hell and Dee Dee Ramone. Johnny did sing a version of it with The Heartbreakers, who for a time had Richard Hell in it/ I'm surprised at Nick for this oversight.
This is an Australian Band and yet you hardly ever here about them over here. It's all just the same main stream garbage we are spoon fed by the media.
Kid: cursing, lack of respect, desperatly intents of catching some others attentions (any others), cleverness on the loose, etc, are gonna dry your imagination and turn off your ligth. Find self stime in another ways, try hard with your music for example, good art is good tutor, and do it respecful an consistenly. Love.
Ffs, those girls are sirens, and Nick, he screams like a heart about to burst. I fucking love this music.
The chorus are awesome!!
This was immediately one of my top favorite songs the first time I heard it.

Only heard this a few weeks ago, but I've been playing it almost constantly. Coolest man in the world with yet another stonking song. Hat doffed, sir.

This song is like a runnaway train that is just barely staying on the tracks.
Having a crappy day today and then I heard this song for the first time ever - feels good to be alive now!
Nick Cave amazing. this song came out on the day my 1st son was born! I bought it on 7" vinyl. My beautiful world!
Potentially one of the best songs ever, based on how many bloody times I’ve played it anyway
Nice to see a mandola--or octave mandolin--out there. This is a barn-burner. Really uses crashing waves instead of huge melodic moves. Amazing.

This video has given me goosebumps. Very recently got into Cave's music through The Proposition and he's just incredible.
He actually shows up all or most of the acts that have followed him and tried to copy his performances. What a unique showman, bright, witty, energetic and seminal. Hard to replace.!!!
I've never seen these guys phone a performance in. It's always 100%.
every time i suspect that nick cave has explored everything worth his time, he seems to find something else... this is just plain amazing...!
Nick Cave last man standing a true artist
when he brings it all together not many can match him
lovely in another word :).
superb. un artist cum mai rar se naste!
A TRULY MARVELLOUS RENDERING OF A BRILLIANT SONG
This transcends both convention AND music. Dear lord.
This song was released the day my son was born! Bought it on 7" vinyl.
Fucking amazing
This is his greatest album, its 2 discs and EVERY track is awesome!
this and Abbatoir Blues on the same show...
you can see that Cave knew they were on form that day.
Amo questa canzone... è sempre nella mia testa!
round of applause....amazing x
Class the best song writer of them all.
This has been on heavy rotation around these parts recently. Genius.
St Vincent brought me here
God I love this song so so much.
Es tan hermosa la canción y las sensaciones que trasmite, que ha uno lo emociona hasta las lagrimas!
Bravo Nick!
Nice lady with big brown hat ;-)
What furios tempo...oh my
His duet with PJ Harvey on "Henry Lee" is jaw-dropping.
Possibly the worlds greatest ..
this song makes me happy
Nick and the band are ace, specially love nature boy!
the man sure is a poet ..great tune too.love it.rocking........... in some order....
Superb!
Find a recording of Cabin Fever if you can. 1st time I heard it I came out in sweats and my hair stood on end!
Truly Amazing Band!
Woo-hoo! Tix to see Grinderman at Meredith. Wasn't going to go until heard they were playing. Gonna be a damn fine weekend in Oztrailia. Plus he's always here at Xmas to see his mum - she lives up the road
Feeling this
Magic.
MIND=BLOWN
thanks for sharing.
@anabashaman Cave and Harvey are from Australia, but it doesn't make a band australian. They don't live there for many years.
Great post... Thanks - love this band... moments ago, stumbled upon a Marianne Faithful, Nick Cave rendition of the Crane Wife (III) (tas mostly MF vocals) - it made me go back and see if this was available... thanks again.
Genius
the man is a genius end of
Hell yeah! Ready to start the day!
Luv it! XXX
r.i.p arthur x ur son won me loads nick x
"And Johnny Thunders was half alive when he wrote 'Chinese Rocks'.
Dee Dee Ramone would have objected to that line, let alone Richard Hell.

he is a genius
I feel ya Nick. Poetry & Prison until you toss the coin.
the intro for 'Lowdown' brought me here
Luckily the show ended there - would NOT want to be in a band that has to follow that!
GOD DAMN!
damn he's great
HE'S A MOTHERFUCKING GENIOUS!
what can you say, just have to watch it dumbfounded.
@MarkCooper1 Quite true! Though i've heard some perfomances here on you tube that might even be better if thats possible!
Beat that!
genio¡¡¡¡
I liked the coolest man in the world comment above
It looks strange watching Mick Harvey play with a Telecaster!
@MarkCooper1 Quite true!
On yer knees, folks!
@ anabashman
only Australia's?...I say one of the WORLDS greatest bands myself! :)
Does any country?
@MrSharpeace And Ellis of course.
Why do I feel like Jools did not refer to Kings of Leon as 'one of the good ones'?
reminds me of ring balogna, ah yes
possibly the world's mate, not just australia's.
mete essa
Don't mean to be rude to you Aussies, but do you have anyone that comes even close?
umm - am I missing something here? Do you mean do we have any more like him? Nick is Aussie
Yes
It can only get worse now.
Pop made right. The sound quality kinda sucks, though.
It's a really great song. But I don't think the sound is too good.
yeah, your drum sticks
This is an Australian Band and yet you hardly ever here about them over here. It's all just the same main stream garbage we are spoon fed by the media.
No possibly about it...
Would the track be about PJ Harvey?
+stephen james no. it's about writer's block
registradus that's correct. Being "my beautiful world" the artist's muse.
Doesnt sound as good thought does it?
Dee Dee Ramone was half alive when he wrote Chinese Rocks
^^
