Keep in mind also that the whole front section is V.I.P. Many of those people are friends, family, girlfriends/wives and other chosen insiders. Behind the V.I.P. section is a fence that separates them from the mass of the general audience from there on out. It's like this for almost any major concert event as such.
no - not at Glastonbury. No such thing as a VIP section at that festival. @@montag4516 Whether its Nick Cave, Elton John, Adele, Stones, Macca, whoever... anyone can get down to the front. All it needs is patience and a strong bladder.
I keep coming back to this every few months even though I'm not a Nick Cave fan. It's just an incredible performance, especially the way the song is a slow burn the whole way through and then rips the sky open at the end. Seriously amazing
What I love the most about this is seeing all the young crew out there enjoying this music. Gives me hope for the future of music outside of highly commercial pop.
Nick Cave was part of that punk ethic that demanded total confrontation with the audience, begun with his early band THE BIRTHDAY PARTY in Melbourne. It's one thing to do it in a small club and quite another to do it within a huge arena. To be able to get right in the face of the audience and seek their involvement and then get it was very uplifting. And towards the end, the audience was represented by that girl in white sitting on the shoulders of her boyfriend. Pretty special.
Of all the songs I thought might have generated a moment like _THAT_ , this wouldn't have been my first guess...or even my fiftieth. Just the magic of Nick Cave, I suppose. 💖
Was hooked on this song from when I first saw it late one night on Rage (the Aussie music lovers favourite film clip show/babysitter). Great performance, the long term Nick Cave fans certainly got a treat that day. The drawn out verses, interaction with the crowd and the timing of the blue eyed redhead popping up in front of Nick as he's serenading the crowd, Glastonbury at it's best.🤯🎹🎻🎸
I love how he puts his trust in the audience, to keep him perched up on the fence for the duration of the song. Incredibly intimate and memorable performance
Here has been years ago a video from exactly this same performance which got very much views but not has been existing anymore. I am very pleased to find again this extraordinary performance where's the beautiful girl makes those unforgettable moments hands touching and intensive views with Nick 💙
Imagine if this performance happened at night. Truly amazing experience...it had everything a life could encapsulate in a few minutes. Birth, love, hate, death, pure happiness
Nick Cave creates an awesome sense of unpredictability, excitement and danger in his performance. Can't think of many others who could do it - maybe Jimi Hendrix.
I always find it puzzling how he is not more popular in his native Australia, I live in Melbourne where he grew up, I’m a fan but most people here know very little about him
Oh he is very very popular and widely regarded as one of our greatest ever storytellers... He just isn't for everyone and doesn't get a whole lot of commercial coverage.
9:10 the face of a man defeated after carrying his girlfriend for 10 goddamn minutes only to have her stolen by a rock star in front of everyone at glastonbury no less
Went on a first date to a Nick Cave show with a woman who didn't know his music. Made her a mix CD of his stuff in advance, but left this off because I figured she'd back out. They finally played this and when it was over she turns to me and excited says, "Why the fuck did you leave that off the CD?!?!"
I wonder if the gorgeous girl in the white dress (or indeed Nick himself) has recovered from that incredible moment? I have no idea who came out best from that.
Mr Cave... Can you realise it? Almost half century Alternative rock persona with extremely Personal idioma, right distances with system and industry and energetic live presentation on discography and lives. I listen to you from mid90s and watch you at Rodon live scenne here in Greece the most of my Times than Any other musician lives. Of course those Melbourne young guys can't consider the power. The difference among other artists. Such a great balance and this difference needs deep understanding and right operation of you like a music vessel, of you like a century idol, of your narcisism, of your drug use. Mainly the knowledge that above everything you are a musician. This rare compilation bridged alternative rock and turns to the most genuine POP, expressing the real esence of our hard age.
You should get the Live Seeds album. This specific song is not on there because it's all pre-Murder Ballads material, but that album is intense as hell and then some.

Played Australian Rules as a kid. That’ll sort your fear of most things
few days ago in Zagreb concert Nick went in crowd without guards 2-3 times.
Had the honour of seeing this live. Him staring into the eyes of the women in the white dress was the moment of the festival.
They definitely had a cosmic connection there
Holy shit!!!😮😮😮😮😮
Umm. Not really.
I was there too - amazing.
While she's on her boyfriends shoulders lol
I cannot put into words how good this is. God Bless Nick Cave...

You are lucky to saw this show! I am jalous. I live very far away far far away , I will never can see Nick in my life so painfull to me. 😢
I said it many times - Nick Cave has the biggest balls in music industry.
he'd need a low centre of mass for these stunts

Maybe Don’t take your grandma to see Nick Cave?

Every time I watch this it’s amazing. This time however I just have to shout out Warren Ellis nailing the violin as usual!

A grade performance, my favourite live rendition I've seen so far. Serenading the lucky girl in the crowd 🔥.
This performance is seriously insane.
Everyone is (rightfully) talking about the moment between Nick and the lady in white but I love seeing Warren Ellis going ham on his violin at 9:08
He plays that fiddle to pieces. Music is a weapon.
