Mainly for otr drivers. For local driving around town it will take many many many years good luck who’s gonna break down pallets of food service deliveries and ltl residential deliveries. Especially in tight Los Angeles areas
Having everything fully autonomous wouldn't make sense in our economic system. If no one is working, who will be buying the goods? This could lead to a revolution and will collapse the economy.
I give it less than 20 years before all Truck driving jobs will be lost to automation, maybe in Latin American countries that will still need in person trucking. In the Security Guard industry, they have robots patrols, half the industry right there.
It is going to happen more quickly than we thought. In my opinion this is going to happen because we , the truckers are helping big companies and corporations to take over this industry . Specially those lease drivers and lease purchase drivers . Company owners , CEO and share holders are becoming so fkn rich that they have money to invest in technology.
Self driving trucks don’t mean shit, they don’t operate in the mountains 🏔️ during winter they don’t chain up & DOT won’t let these companies run OTR.Auroras stock tanked last year & investors pulled their money out.Driverless truck will never run Hazmat or do runs for DOD.
They already have trucks with automatic chains. And yes they operate in rain, snow, and in the mountains. They go up and down mountains. Your job is for sure on the line.
@ I e ran OTR from coast to coast & never once have I ever seen this truck with auto chains. The drivers have those types of auto chains say they constantly break & are useless

I’m all for automation and making money but the lawsuits and liability and deaths are gonna be massive in the early stages. Maybe once they work out all the bugs and kinks I’ll buy my own auto semi and make that passive income
@ the teamsters union is the biggest union in the country and the have already said a year ago they wouldn’t let automation take Union truck driving jobs.Do you understand what that would do to the economy. The government would step in & shoot it down for the simple fact the impact it would have on the economy.
If you don’t think word wouldn’t spread about sellouts helping these trucks out you don’t have a street wise mindset.Anybody in that seat would be followed & assaulted & maybe even worse.
Automation is a thing but not anytime soon! We are looking at, at least 20 to 30 years before it become a thing. No need to worry for now. Elon mask said that the full self driving taxes would take at least 20 years to become a thing imagine a big semi truck? Like I said we got some time for now
These Self Driving Trucking is going be Dangerous think about if there malfunction in Computer in Trucks there going people's going to lose there Life...
My question is if the self driving semi truck kills someone in an accident who is going to be held liable for it? Is it going to be the software company behind it or the owner of the company that made the decision to put it in

Damn even in security that’s nuts
Thought your supposed to check the tires every 50 miles lol
Yeah bs, these companies don’t give a shit about that or safety it’s all about money.

It’s because we’re not unionizing
The Teamsters union already said they’d never deal with automation.
Yeah but the trucking companies will, and they will lay them off, and then POOF no more teamsters in trucking just like that.
Those trucks will be hijacked & destroyed by hijackers on the road watching these trucks.
Truck drivers are going to become warehouse lumpers now 😅

You and me both
TYPICAL truck DRIVER
MENTALITY......
There's a difference between taxis and a
COMMERCIAL VEHICLE.
When it comes to automation not really. These jobs are on the way out the door.
K righties this 2 years ago & they got rid of those 2 trucks & the 2 trainers were threatened & 1 was assaulted @ the phoenix terminal
That would never work in food service.Food service is all Union.
Doesn’t matter union or not. A union cannot stop a company from investing in self driving technology.
