It's way overdue, but I've finally calculated the answer to which game has the best _original_ tracks, based on the rankings in this video. As always, I get my results by averaging the level scores, then applying a minus 3 modifier for each track to account for the quantity aspect of quality. Starting with #10, we have the Arcade installments with an Average Score of 93.615... and a Final Score of 54.615...! I actually have one of these at my local Dave and Busters, and I agree, the Namco track is excellent! Next at #9, we have... hang on, this can't be right... Mario Kart 64 with an Average Score of 95.5625 and a Final Score of 47.5625. How did that... Ah, here's the problem! Wario Stadium got the worst score, despite it really not deserving it. Ah well, not much I can do about that, no matter how loudly my memories of tearing through these tracks with my Dad insist. Then at #8, we have Double Dash with an Average Score of 88.25 and a Final Score of 40.25. This is the earliest entry I've never played, as I didn't own a Gamecube (PS2 was much better, and one console was my limit back then). At #7, we have Super Circuit with an Average Score of 93.55 and a Final Score of 33.55. I've dabbled in this one, but the completely unfair requirements for 3-Star Ranks (including several things you have absolutely no control over) killed my interest in completing it. At #6, we have the OG Super Mario Kart with an Average Score of 89.9 and a Final Score of 29.9! Me and my Dad played this one a lot, but stopped after a while due to 64 being that much better in our eyes. I even traded away my physical copy of it for DKC3, and I don't regret it for a moment! At #5, we have Mario Kart 7 with an Average Score of 76.4375 and a Final Score of 28.4375. I never played this one either, though not for a lack of owning a 3DS. Just a lack of interest. At #4, we have Mario Kart DS with an Average Score of 73.75 and a Final Score of 25.75. Another one I haven't touched yet, though the inclusion of Missions intrigues me. At #3, we have Mario Kart Wii with an Average Score of 65.882... and a Final Score of 14.882...! I actually tried to get a 3-Star Gold Wheel rank on my profile, but because that involves some of the nonsense of Super Circuit's system, I couldn't make it. I forget if I managed a 1 or 2-Star Gold Wheel rank in the end, it's been a very long time. At #2, we have... oh my, this is a surprise! Mario Kart Tour with an Average Score of 72.5 and a Final Score of 12.5! Sadly, I find a mobile phone to be completely unacceptable for playing "real" games, so I'll only ever get to experience those that made it into the Booster Pass (which I'm NOT counting as part of Mario Kart 8)... Speaking of which, at #1 we have Mario Kart 8 with an Average Score of 62.68 and a Final Score of NEGATIVE 12.32! I was starting to think we weren't going to see a negative score this time! This includes everything in DX, which means this title does have the most tracks (25 compared to the 20 or 16 that most did), but even discounting that would only have made the final score positive 3 or so, well past Tour's showing! No wonder 8 feels like the climax of the franchise a la Smash Ultimate, between such fantastic additions and containing so much of the past! And there we go, another ELR consolidated!
Always look forward too and appreciate these, thanks! The DS and 3DS games are actually quite solid in their own right and would recommend. Tour introduced plenty of really fun tracks (being designed to feature multiple routes helps with the variety) but I can agree after a strong effort that it's not fun to play.
its a breath of fresh air to watch someone who doesnt just dismiss the tour courses out of hand as the worst of the bunch. That being said, wario stadium being last hurts my heart lol. I love that track!
200cc is such a great inclusion in 8. it gives some of the more bland circuits a chance to be pretty fun. a lot of the bad mario kart circuits tend to all lack hazards, be very wide and have mainly long straights that makes them feel really slow and boring on 150 but are a lot more exciting on 200, even tokyo blur goes from boring as hell to passable
Could not disagree more on a lot of these, and thats ok! Great and enjoyable video! It would probably take me like a year to make something like this, very impressive
Seriously, can we please appreciate the ASTOUNDING dedication here? Not only for a video this long with a job this overwhelming, but the presentation of it all? The racers specifically selected for the courses, the special presentation throughout the "Cups" and for the Bowser Castles and Rainbow Roads? Seriously, Jak outdid himself this time. Big claps
Wahoo! Three hours talking about the the greatest kart racer ever, (besides Crash Team Racing,) and one of the best things Nintendo's ever made. I love how colorful and creative these courses get. Can't wait to see your top picks. Let's a go!
Thanks so much dude! Yeah Mario Kart has been on my radar for one of these for years purely because of the colorful variety. It's just a pretty topic to do a video on and seeing all the different eras! Cheers mate!
Absolutely in love with the fact you chose to include the Arcade games. Hella underrated group of games. Video is a banger as always keep up the good work mate 🖤
I'm another individual of whom likes wario stadium. It's always been a standout in my family for our own house rules where the first two actually race, and the third (and fourth) players act as obstacles / crew members helping their designated teammate by target shocking at the top of the ramp so the other team's racer falls down and has to redo that section, launching shells and laying traps. no other track really allowed us to create these memories besides battle mode. For solo play, I've always enjoyed all the different types of turns to learn how to keep my speed up when I was learning the game, and the unintended goofy shortcuts are quite a treat to pull off. At least it is not plagued by blocks you hit almost every lap like the runner up to last place!
I cannot believe how much I disagree with most of your opinions on this list. Yoshi's Island below some of the stinkers from SNES, GBA, N64, and DS is baffling. However, the fact you took this time to give in depth reviews of all tracks is admirable. Well done.
i think you have to take it from a different perspective on what it did during it's time era. mario kart 64 was built around being more of a game to play with friends and family compare to SNES mario kart, and i think that's the only way to truly play it. a lot of the tracks are a bit boring and bland due to 64 not being able to make too overly complex tracks, but it defined mario kart as a game for family and friends to play, and ruin friendships over with the fable blue shell. i believe it's what made mario kart what it is now, as the game you can just take a moment to relax and have fun with with family and friends, while still having a competitive scene. also wasn't it one of the 64's best selling games making mario kart a stable as it is now? either way, i respect their tier list
I am happy the arcade games are getting (at least some of) the recognition they deserve instead of either being excluded because of its small playerbase or dunked on because of its aspects such as the different controls and "over-simplistic" tracks. Their tracks have more to them than just visuals. Courses like Rainbow Coaster and Kingdom Way have portals that can function like Stage Morphs from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, transitioning players between as many courses as one desires and the courses they happen to love. For example, players can race on all four 3DS Special Cup courses in one race with portals. Not to mention some courses like Peach's Castle and Diamond City take inspiration from the games, which is something several mainline games do not even do.
Our Homie is finally doing a Nintendo related ranking, even covering the mixed Mario Kart Tour and the underrated lovely Arcade game. Square Eyed Jak, you legend! This is a big surprise for me to watch.
I can't say how happy my favorite track across the entire series took #3. I love to see it every time it comes back and it just goes to show how much of an absolute timeless classic it was on it's debut.
I love playing Wario Stadium online with friends. Using a lightning to send someone over the ramp is so satisfying. The shortcuts are fun to perform, and there's lots of cool tricks you can do on VS.
I am just fascinated how wario stadium N64 is the worst. I personally really enjoyed it. and why put that track at lowest instead of the 2 GBA tracks that might give people motion sickness if not flashing lights
It took a few viewing sessions but I've watched it all! As much as I'm more a fan of CTR, it's impressive just how many of these tracks I know and have enjoyed over the years. I need to get back to 8 deluxe. Was gifted the booster pack ages ago and haven't played all the tracks from it yet. You've definitely put me in the mood to do that now! Great work as always 👍
I’ll out myself, I actually think N64 Wario Stadium is awesome, probably a top 5 N64 track for me and I even like it better than Waluigi Stadium in Double Dash lol
thank you for this absolute masterpiece. even tho you ranked some courses lower than i thought (neo bowser city is in my opinion the best course in this franchise), i am really thankful that you gave so much effort into this 3 hour long video without a lack of pure quality
Certainly wasn't expecting Mario Kart to be the next every level ranked but holy hell was it worth the wait and amazing! These videos look so grueling to make but the end result is always fantastic!
I am kinda shocked how much I disagreed with this ranking, like yoshis island, mushroom gorge, daisy criuser, and Cloudtop Cruise deserved to be a lot higher… and it isn’t just because of Nostalgia that makes them good… if you took it out of them… you’re left with amazing courses to place on
So glad to see Maple Treeway get 3rd place. It is one of, if not, the most popular tracks from Wii. So popular in fact, that it got bumped up from being in the BCP's 6th Wave, to being in the 3rd Wave.
The sheer amount of dedication you put into these lists is absolutely staggering. Your passion and excitement makes you so entertaining to listen to, and even if I may disagree with a good number of these choices, you make your reasoning very clear and understandable, and it's obvious it all just stems from a love for what you're playing/talking about. You've been making bangers for a long while now, and this is no different. Great video, Jak.
Amazing video from start to finish. Thank you for giving me something to do today for 3 hours lol. I love watching videos like this and seeing everyone's unique opinions.
I HAVE to bring up the one thing everyone in Spain was talking about regarding Madrid Drive. Madrid has a big building with the Schweppes logo, which as silly as it sounds, has become a bit of an iconic sight in Madrid. Some actually love the thing while others (mainly those outside of Madrid) just bring it up as a joke to point out how uninteresting Madrid is despite being the country's capital city. Mario Kart has that building! It obviously doesn't say Schweppes but it's absolutely based on the Schweppes building. Truly amazing to see something like that being represented in a Triple A Nintendo game. Another thing that I'm surprised you didn't mention is that the Wario Cup from the arcade game takes inspiration from WarioWare, which is super rare to see.
Your reaction to Yoshi's Island was the polar opposite of the vast majority of people including myself, it's an S tier for me, but that difference is what makes your take so refreshing
I appreciate the level of detail and time you put into this! I feel as though so many other rankings rush through or don’t explain the reasons for their rankings. Plus, you had some opinions I don’t normally see and I appreciate that. Awesome work, dude.
HAHAHA, oh Jak I'm so thrilled to see this. Know I'm a little late, but especially pleased to see a few visits to Timezone meant we got some Arcade GP footage too. 😁 Also the yellow fountain line had me cackling. "Thank god we're not in a snow level!" XD Honestly, it still blows my mind that Koopa Beach only got the Super Circuit and Tour treatment. I was lowkey holding out to see it have a big glow up in 8DX, but you're right, I think that hope was from love of the music track only, not in it being a standout track... that or I keep confusing it with Koopa Troopa Beach, that could be it. But honestly, it makes sense that Excitebike Arena upwards is SOLID levels that only get better with each entry as they both aesthetically and mechanically set themselves apart. Like, that's the important thing to consider, out of 156 stage, tracks 120-135 are decent, tracks 100-120 are just GOOD, and then from Paris onwards we just hit to good quality and go skybound! And taking your unbiased view going in was a good approach to really give an outsiders perspective without bias or familiarity taking hold of personal choice. Like I said watching the CTR vid, there were favourites of mine in low rankings, but their competition ranked higher was just stronger. Will say, pleased to see Melody Motorway (my personal favourite) ranking so high!
This series was great. I joined this great game in the year of 2014 when Mario Kart 8 released and honestly, I was so addicted to this game that I continued playing up until the dlc. This was a great journey and I can’t wait for the next Mario Kart. I’m glad I didn’t sleep on this. Catch you at the finish line.
Watched this when it came out but forgot to comment! Another fantastic video on my favourite series from you! I have to praise the editing, and design, especially loving those details you did for the banners, changing them up on Bowser Castles and Rainbow Roads... the passion is apparent, even on a monster three hour video. Very bold and unexpected rankings, as always I appreciate how you try to give a chance to games with technical limitations, and offer some interesting points... though I can't deny it was sad to see some of my favourite courses out surprisingly early! My all time favourite level is probably Koopa Cape from MKWii! Though I agree with you that this series has a unique charm that we all inevitably build memories with our favourite courses, and it's so consistent it's hard to go wrong with any of them. As a suggestion, I think you had previously mentioned something about analyzing the numbers, it'd be very interesting if after finishing the list you ran the averages to see some statistics such as which games have the best levels to round off the video. Regardless, another great video worth the three hours!
Watching this video was what informed me about the boxes to the left of the fountain in Peach Beach. I've been playing this game throughout most of my life and it never occured to me to go to the left, since I'm would clearly be such a handicap to do so. That's pretty funny.
Have been waiting for another one of these! These are my favorite, have watched the Jak and Daxter one at least 4 times aha, I work in a factory and listening to these helps the time go by much much faster!
There was just something so satisfying about lightning bolting people as they were jumping the ramp on Wario Stadium, that’s the only thing I remember about the track so I can see it being boring.
The Mario Kart Wii game is my childhood, I remember back in 2008, in my bed and then my dad coming home with a Wii with Mario Kart in the bag too. We put it on and then started playing, me beating everyone's asses and having a great time. Continuously playing the game for a long time, absolutely loving it. That's the definition of my childhood
Jak please come back to TH-cam Ive been binging your channel in a kinda depressing state but you're videos comfort me and give off very nostalgic vibes (such and not limited to your tony hawktober and skatetember series) to when things weren't so stressful, inspiring to step out of my video game comfort zone buying and playing new games, I hope everything is well chap and hope to see you upload again very soon!!! P.S. were you ever able to track down that skateboarding plug and play? (This comment was uploaded before watching said video it was posted on and I'm going to watch now lol)
The Pac-Man cup honestly feels more like the old Pac-Man cartoon rather than Pac-Man World, with the power pellet trees and the pac-shaped lake. Hell, it even includes a motif from said cartoon in the music. Pac-Man rambling aside, this is a good list. Especially since the legendary Mario Kart Arcade GP games are in the spotlight too.
Glad my man respects Banshee Boardwalk. I only ever played the DS Version but still my favourite track to this day. Can't quite articulate why, just a great vibe lots of memories.
Wow, what a bumper and brilliant treat this was to watch! I really enjoyed your opinons and enthusiasm, nice to have an Ozzie accent to listen to throughout!
Holy shit a 3 hour ranked video now this is something I have been waiting for and I am glad this ranking is coming from someone who came in with an almost unbiased opinion on the series
I agree with your number one favorite. Definitely the most beautiful looking course too! Some other favorites: SNES Bowsers Castle 3 (from DLC), any track that is themed from other games (yoshis island, f zero, etc), Squeaky Clean Sprint, MOUNT WARIO, DK Mountain/Summit, Koopa Cape, Coconut Mall and Peach's Gardens. Least favorites are Baby Park from all them MINUS DOUBLE DASH, Wario Stadium 64, Royal Raceway 64 and all the Super Mario Kart tracks.
Picking a super random video to post this on, but Jak, your videos have helped me so much over the last few years. Definitely all your hawktober stuff but all of your videos, especially long ones like these have been great distractions and listening tools for my brain from some major depression and issues in my life. I listen to a lot of your stuff while I work and In the background while I’m home. I appreciate all the effort and work you put into videos like this. Keep doing what you do best and know you have a fan for life over here bro ❤
I think Singapore is the best city track. And Yoshi’s Island is the best tour track, sorry! I never had a problem with the art style and everyone I have seen has loved it!
1:23:10 Surprisignly, yes. Even older games like Twisted Metal 2's PS4/PS5 ports had to censor the Hollywood sign to "Los Angeles" even because the Hollywood sign ended up getting stricter copyrights now.
I love N64 Wario Stadium, it has its charms and I do think it deserves to be remade at some point in the future, they could make it more interesting and drivable in the modern style of the game.
Love Your ranking and Crash Bandicoot Videos Jak! I was surprised that you ranked every Mario Kart Track because there is A LOT of them. Gotta get my food ready!
Haven’t played the Mario Kart series in a while, but my favorites when I played were Waluigi Pinball, Airship Fortress, and Coconut Mall. These games were a big part of my childhood and will forever hold great memories (even though CTR is better)
I haven't even played MK since Double Dash, but I still had to show appreciation for the work on this! Love your other videos so I knew that this would be a banger. I'm shocked at how good some of those courses on the DS and 3DS looked.
this is one of the strangest lists i’ve ever seen in my life it makes sense i mean this guy probably just ran through grand prix one time on each track on each game but still very odd

The hero we didn’t know we needed
That is the most confusing and most bizarre list I've seen, but at least I can appreciate it for variety and being different.
What’s confusing is how you have YOSHI FALLS over yoshi’s island. JUST HOW

Yeah that was odd. I mean, yoshi's island is overrated, but it's still a really good track.

1:58:57 Fun fact: Super Mario Kart wasn't planned to even _have_ a Rainbow Road. In its place was an unused Choco Island 3
Amazing video from start to finish. Thank you for giving me something to do today for 3 hours lol. I love watching videos like this and seeing everyone's unique opinions.
unlike other ranking videos, i like that you gave the snes tracks a fair whirl instead of clumping them all at the bottom of the list
I’ve always loved Mushroom Gorge and Dino Dino Jungle.
Such classics but also some hidden gems
These Every level rank videos of yours have always been a treat to me, and seeing one for Mario Kart was really a delight to watch.
AMAZING I was smiling wide at the end when you ranked my favorite course at number one
2:55:48 Did you know that Wii Bowser's Castle's song is just Maple Treeway's song slowed down?
Much like how Neo Bowser City and Toad's Turnpike are remixes of one another? 😉
@@Saxdude26 Neo Bowser City includes other songs too, like the Mario Kart 7 title song.
Absolutely love your ranked videos, especially the long ones like this. This is definitely a pleasant surprise for me after a long day.
The better put Toad’s Factory in MK10. I wanna see Wii Bowser Castle get remade too!
CTGP deluxe has a great remake of Wii Bowser's Castle! Charlie's Café also made a great remake of toad's factory!
Also the yellow fountain line had me cackling. "Thank god we're not in a snow level!" XD
Honestly, it still blows my mind that Koopa Beach only got the Super Circuit and Tour treatment.
This video had been a very fun watch, but Daisy Cruiser, Mushroom Gorge, and Cloudtop Cruise being below all tour city tracks is what I call: a crime
this is a great video! loved hearing your opinions. must’ve taken forever to make this, great work!
@1:57:41 there's a shortcut there??? I've played this game for 30 years and never knew.
Watching this video was what informed me about the boxes to the left of the fountain in Peach Beach. I've been playing this game throughout most of my life and it never occured to me to go to the left, since I'm would clearly be such a handicap to do so. That's pretty funny.
Donut Plains in the top half is insane
I did not expect you out of all people make a Mario Kart video of this magnitude but wow I'm in for it
whoa... what a race of journey! this is my favorite ELR so far next to Spyro Level ranked! Man I cant to see whats next! Thank you jak for this! :D
im always at awe on the amount of organizational, scripting work for each of these ranking videos
Have been waiting for another one of these! These are my favorite, have watched the Jak and Daxter one at least 4 times aha, I work in a factory and listening to these helps the time go by much much faster!
Honestly I have fond memories of wario stadium. Mario kart N64 at 10 years old made me love all those tracks. The longer laps were fun with friends.
There was just something so satisfying about lightning bolting people as they were jumping the ramp on Wario Stadium, that’s the only thing I remember about the track so I can see it being boring.
My favorite track will forever be Koopa Cape. Number 84 definitely hurts but I have my nostalgia glasses on lol
This is the first video like this I've seen that acknowledges the arcade Mario Kart games. Maybe I should try getting GP DX running on my computer
5:15 I’ve found three people who consider it to be the best MK64 track, believe it or not.
I love it. Jungle Parkway is probably my favourite but WS is up there for the 64 tracks.
I can't be the only one who was getting mad over how badly he was playing the courses
Nah, just felt more relatable.
I am really amazed by the amount of quality tracks in the series.
Props to Jak for showing love to the Mario Kart Arcade GP games.
Glad my man respects Banshee Boardwalk. I only ever played the DS Version but still my favourite track to this day. Can't quite articulate why, just a great vibe lots of memories.
Jak, the amount of effort that goes into these lists is fucking insane. Every year you manage to drop these bangers.
Wow, what a bumper and brilliant treat this was to watch! I really enjoyed your opinons and enthusiasm, nice to have an Ozzie accent to listen to throughout!
Yoshi's island in 126? The MK fanbase is gonna murder this guy 🤣
New Subscriber: Awesome videos you have been making, especially your ranking videos. Also, @43:09 LOL
the fact that neither toad factory or wii bowser castle didn’t get into 8 is shocking i hope they come in the future
We've did it! We've found the one person on Earth who likes Ice Ice Outpost! This calls for celebration!
Yes if it isn't my favorite underrated channel
I am ome of the few that liked wario stadium on the n64
I think Singapore is the best city track. And Yoshi’s Island is the best tour track, sorry! I never had a problem with the art style and everyone I have seen has loved it!
1:23:10 Surprisignly, yes. Even older games like Twisted Metal 2's PS4/PS5 ports had to censor the Hollywood sign to "Los Angeles" even because the Hollywood sign ended up getting stricter copyrights now.
Nice ive rewatched THPS levels ranked 3 times now for background noise at work 😅
I like how you keep track of when games are eliminated from the ranking.
Oh hell yeah, I love these! They are always worth the wait :)
Loved this video! Was a great watch seeing all your picks and your justifications for each one. Earned a new sub 👏
Thank you for giving me credit !
Thanks so much for the incredible resources on your channel! 😊
I love N64 Wario Stadium, it has its charms and I do think it deserves to be remade at some point in the future, they could make it more interesting and drivable in the modern style of the game.
Very nice list! Also, because everyone makes the mistake: It's Electrodrome not -dome XD
You are perhaps the only person I've ever seen who'd put Cheep Cheep Lagoon over Yoshi's Island.
Great video though!
You deserve more subscribers, Jak.
I've been binging your ranked videos again recently so this couldn't have came at a better time! Thanks again for such quality content dude 👌
Legend, cheers mate!
Justice for neo bowser city
Getting squished by the Berlin Wall falling on top of me always makes me laugh.
