I think Elizabeth handled this production in a really intelligent way. I was blown away by the movie. It wasn't easy to watch. I can certainly understand why she would not want to see it again. It was told so well through her eyes. The part that broke my heart the most was when she's looking at all of the missing children's photos at the shopping market. Trying to find herself and wondering if she's been forgotten. I remember her talking about that so early on, before she even wrote her book. If I ever had the honor of meeting Elizabeth in person I always wanted to tell her that I never forgot her when she was missing!

I'm glad that I watched this piece after viewing the movie because she's much more emotionally raw talking about her kidnapping than she was in the film. In the film, I felt she seemed too at peace, almost on the verge of possessing an alter personality because she appeared so ok with the violence--with what happened to her. As religious as she is, she is still a human being and going through that horrific experience at such a young age surely it haunts her subconscious no matter how much love and support she receives from her family.

You have no right to say she didn't go through that much. She was a child who was exploited to a religious couple. She was terrified and raped every single night for 270 days. She wanted to live even if it meant enduring all the pain. She is the strongest person I have come to see. She didn't want anyone to get hurt so she sacrificed herself to protect the ones she loves.

The ending was strange... Because in the police officer interview who asked Elizabeth "Are you Elizabeth Smart?" he mentioned she denied she was until he insisted she was then she finally gave in and admitted she is Elizabeth Smart. However in the movie the actress did not do that, she admitted straight away she is Elizabeth Smart. There seems to be alot of denial and pieces that don't add up. It would be interesting to hear Wanda's version but she isn't allowed to speak about it.... hmm?

Ces Marie Synnott if you watched he threatened to kill her family if she did anything when police came towards her at the library the woman would grab her to keep her quite. She was 14-15 and was scared she wanted her family to be safe not murdered by the lunatic that took her. In the mountains she couldn’t have ran either. That lady who was the 1st wife was insane too and had weapons to kill her if she tried to run.

Seriously rude! You don't even know the story if your going to make such a rude comment. Just like Lilly said he brain washed her and his wife was helping him or the claimed 1st wife. So she thought they had friends who would kill her family if they got caught, so if they were in jail someone would kill them. They were liars of course and really had no friends to help them. But were manipulators and liars. If you know the story you'd also know that she was starving that whole week. Would you walk down a mountain if you were starving and to weak to hike? They were on a hill it sounded like during the time he disappeared for a week. And the 1st wife was there guarding here during that whole week even if she could get off the mountain.
