Thank you for this video! I would not have thought about attempting this. I can’t wait to try this. I’m going to change the call-in to what they are in game like, “eagle” and “orbital”, or how I would tell my squad. Probably something like “Requesting” and “Calling”, so I can alert in game chat as well as kick off the macro. Heck I guess from the way you described it all I could do both and get it covered every which way! I already have my strategem keys on the arrows and changed the CTRL key to press to open instead of hold so I can keep running while calling in by hand but the voice thing would be awesome.
Yeah I've been doing this for quite a while too made up my own profile that I've been adding to since shortly before launch and it's been great. As a bit of a joke from a friend we had all the commands end in "jutsu/no jutsu" so it is quite fun to yell out "Eagle Napalm Airstrike no Jutsu!" and then watch your character spam out a string of commands. :D It also helps in command recognition since everything ends in jutsu so it can tell Autocannon jutsu from Autocannon sentry jutsu.
Great for people who are disabled or suffer from certain ailments.. However for everyone else, I feel like having to type in sequences while under massive pressure, is part of the whole charm and what makes it fun.
Fantastic Video, I'm disabled and have been using VA for many years...works for all major titles eg. (Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Starfield, WoW, SWTOR online, Farcry STO, etc). Its very convient to use multiple command by itself or in sequence macroed by voice command....awesome program.
Something about the hellbomb sequence just works for me. Like I look at it, it's long and complicated, but then my fingers just fly over the arrow keys without any thought. It Just Works.
I have issues reading the commands on screen and use Voice Attack from Steam with Hellbabbles. Works very well. I added the command "summon" to call in anything. Much easier than learning the defaults that are different per stategem type.

Yes. I picked one of the built-in sounds. They aren't really top notch. But you can put anything you want there from external audio files. There are just two places in the profile where you have to make the change.
@Woofer It took me a while but I finally figured it out. In your profile, you are setting the push to listen function to override the globally set hotkey. This makes it so if anyone follows the instructions for setting the push to listen function in this video will be frustrated that it doesn't work for them. They will either need to go to the profile options and uncheck the "override recognition global hotkey" option and set the key the way you showed, or set the key in the profile options. I don't know where you want to correct this, but it will be important for almost everyone I think. At least correct the instructions for setting the hot key in the profile documentation. Not that anyone reads the f-ing manual.
Holy crap, you are absolutely right. I don't know why I have it set in the profile instead of the actual application. I'll change that cause it makes more sense to me that new users do it in the app.
I added Calling in so it sounds more natural on voice chat, this way my team also knows I'm about to blow something up. But I love the guide, convinced me to buy the program. I'll likely make profiles for other games now too. But I love the feel of ordering my ship to *ship name* bring liberty tosses 500 towards the enemy. I do think I need a make this area glass command that tosses every orbital/eagle.
I'm experiencing an issue where stratagem commands do not work in-game. They are recognized, but do not result in an in-game action being taken. I do have arrow keys bound and have used "voice attack keybind modified" to set the commands to use arrows over WASD. Commands from "regular commands" and "VA commands" function. I can also verbally key in the stratagems by saying "right/left/up/down" and they will result in the stratagem being deployed. Using the 3/13/24 version of Hellbabbles. I also am running voice attack as an administrator.
The most common problem is that you might need to run VoiceAttack as Administrator. It is what the developer recommends. The profile relies on the standard key for accessing stratagems which is holding Ctrl. If I am reading your comment correctly, you might want to switch that back from F to Ctrl to test. If you do want to use F as the stratagem key, you need to edit the two commands in the profile called F_commandStart and F_commandEnd where Ctrl is pressed and released.
Not sure what I’m doing wrong, it opens the stratagem when I give a call like for precision orbital strike. But does not input the keys I did tell it to use the alternative key which acked green or accepted, but no joy
OK, I’ve been digging at this a little bit. I think the problem is is that I’m set to use a single press on control to open stratagems, then arrow keys. I can’t figure out what the system is doing to open the strat? How can set it all cnt single press to start strats or what key is going for?
Damn! You are the second person that seem to run into this. So tell me if you've done these checks: a) Run VoiceAttack as administrator and test again b) Make sure you are using the voice command setting that corresponds to your keybind ("voice attack keybind modified" for arrow keys) c) Press down all ctrl, shift and alt-keys on your keyboard to make sure they're reset in relation to VoiceAttack. d) Set the keybind setting to WASD with "voice attack keybind", open notepad and from notepad run the command "request revive" which should then close notepad (because of ctrl+w) I haven't been able to reproduce this yet. So I am not sure if it's a setting in game or in voiceattack or if it's something about the profile that has gone out of whack. Would be really cool to find out what the issue is though.
When using the free version, I've found it handy to create a Ctrl toggle at the start and end of the macro to open and shut the requisition menu automatically. This saves on having the F_CommandStart and F_CommandEnd bits
This is good advice. And it turned out I had totally broken the free version back when I updated it to remove those two function commands. The newer works better and contains the reset function.
I've been using voiceattack for about 10 years now in flight and space Sim's. The thought to use it in Helldivers occurred to me but I decided against using it. Having to key in the stratigim commands under pressure manually is a big part of the fun and challenge for me. But I'm sure there are others out there who will welcome the option.
I don't think I could play flight and space sims without it anymore. Not even for using voice, but for the integration. For Helldivers I decided I can do both though. Some days VoiceAttack isn't on at all.
One of my favourite things in this game is that the character does the sort of same movements as i punch my keyboard keys to input something into terminals
Man, developers need to start programming stuff like this into their games to start with. Imagine how cool games like Helldivers would be with voice commands baked in from the get go on all platforms...lol.
I'm having an issue setting up commands to be used on a Xbox 360 computer as I play on my PC. When I try to set up key presses, it only wants to recognize the keyboard even though I turned the joystick on in the general settings
That looks a bit like a typo, so I am assuming you are using a Xbox 360 controller on a pc. With that I went on the voiceattack forum. It seems like as long as the windows game controller window recognizes the controller it should show up in VA as well. Is that the case? Otherwise if the controller is one of those that uses something other than the generic game controller driver it might be an issue. If that is the case you could try setting it up with a vJoy intermediate. That's what I do for my arduino controllers. But an Xbox 360 really shouldn't be a problem from what I know, so there may be something else going on.
@@woofer_808 yes a wired Xbox 360 controller on PC. So in the Options>General>Joystick Options, I enabled my Xbox 360 controller and it recognizes my button presses. For example, I have responses set up for when I press Button 3(X) to reload. I linked it to a random integer (so it doesn't happen ever reload). However, when I go to a profile to create a voice activated command, when I select keypress the joystick does not come up. It only wants to recognize keyboard presses. I want to ask for an Autocannon, and it presses A X A Y Y B (I have Stratagems set to X/Y/A/B). I tried looking for a profile specific setting to enable joysticks within the command or select joysticks but found nothing. Is there something I am missing?
@@woofer_808 I figured it out. Even though I'm playing on a 360 controller I can still use the keyboard Stratagem key bindings for everything I need and it doesn't disrupt my controller. Sorry for the confusion

The ultra wide video player on youtube browser does not look good. It looks smooshed and i kept trying to scroll up because it looks like the top half of the video is off screen.
Got a nice custom Idea. Take all Orbitals / Eagle Strikes. Set them in desired order. Create new command line to execute all 4 strategems automatically throwing them in the direction you're aiming after each one, using the command: FIre Mission -- Send My enemies to Hell. Choose 4 increasing big booms for dramatic effect. :D
i guess the utility depends on the speed a player can reasonably input a strategem, i know i could do it at twice the speed this macro does, but it does seem like an awesome tool for people who aren't quite capable of doing so.
Yeah. The speed is by design. I play about half my missions with voice. The manual commands come in at 7 or higher difficulty basically because it is just so much faster overall.
Only recommended improvement is to change your stratagem menu open to tap instead of press. you can shave off about 400 ms per command on the menu open.
Ran into someone using voice commands on this game with open mic, not only did we have to listen to every callout but all the background noise lmao was cool but very annoying.
After 1 or 2 fails I input manually. I'm testing the lite version and added my own stratagems, but request reinforcements is not reliable. I didn't edit that, but it keeps giving me resupply. Overall I'm really liking this! @@woofer_808
Definately! This is horrible on higher difficulties. Input speeds are around three times longer with this latency and it frequently fails to get recognized properly.
Instead of “order request supplies” you could do a setting “generic stratagem reply” which would effect the voice from the long one to “loading drop pod” or “paging ship cannons” (orbital strike) or “calling eagle”
This is a good point. I should bust out the ol' xbox and steam controllers and see what happens. Check back in the manual later. The changelog contains upcoming work. There might need to be a rather extensive rework to take a controller into consideration. I don't know yet.
@@woofer_808 Im using a PS5 controller, but it uses the d-pad for call-ins on both. Gotta hold left-bumper to start the input process. I just wasnt sure what to change, but it might be as simple as changing the inputs from the arrow keys to d-pad inputs inside Voiceattack.
I tried it with an Xbox controller and kept using the keyboard as the inputs. I have yet to try moving it all to the controller. But you may be on to something by having changes done in VA.
@@woofer_808 Did the call 8ns work for you in that regard? They didnt when I was using my PS5 controller, but I may not have set it up properly to begin with. Voice Attack registers the call-ins correctly, but it never correlated to them happening ingame.

thx again for updating voice attack commands
Woofer….we’ve never met….but I love you.
Thank you SO much for this heads up….a literal game changer.
Perfect timing as VoiceAttack is actually on sale for $8.99 USD right now as part of the Steam Spring Sale that last until March 21!
For me entering the commands is part of the chaos/fun, but it’s cool there’s an option to shout it now lol
My thoughts too, I just got muscle memory down for a couple and found that really fun. I want to keep doing that, but give this a try! Or perhaps have it be a very late-game thing I enable.
I won't be using this, but appreciate that those who physically need it have access to it. @@progenitor_amborella
After playing with it, you convinced me, bought the full VoiceAttack and works great, awesome job, this is just way better than running in circles and getting brainfarts haha
I get so happy reading this creative energy going into voice stuff. You seem to have it well figured out already.
This should be an official update. Great for accessibility for a lot of people.
I love this, THANK YOU! Will try it out tonight.
Hehe. Next step is to add camera recognition of hand gestures so you have to do hand seals while shouting.
Great for people who are disabled or suffer from certain ailments..
However for everyone else, I feel like having to type in sequences while under massive pressure,
is part of the whole charm and what makes it fun.
Thank you ❤ as someone who is a disabled gamer, this helps me to enjoy the game even more ❤
I am super happy to hear that! Hope you are able to transition it to new things as well.
@@woofer_808 I’m not very good with this kinda thing but I will do my best :)
These are the tutorials that make youtube great
Fantastic Video, I'm disabled and have been using VA for many years...works for all major titles eg. (Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Starfield, WoW, SWTOR online, Farcry STO, etc). Its very convient to use multiple command by itself or in sequence macroed by voice command....awesome program.
I love how programmable it is by itself. I wish I had time to sit down and learn how to make plugins though. That would be supremely useful.
This should come in handy when calling in a hellbomb
Something about the hellbomb sequence just works for me. Like I look at it, it's long and complicated, but then my fingers just fly over the arrow keys without any thought. It Just Works.
I have issues reading the commands on screen and use Voice Attack from Steam with Hellbabbles. Works very well. I added the command "summon" to call in anything. Much easier than learning the defaults that are different per stategem type.
I’m 100% making the call-in for the 500kg “I’m not gonna sugarcoat it.”
This must be a godsend for disabled folks out there. Good work dude!
Thank you, W00fer! Very helpful.
For myself I started to setup a script for HD2. But before starting with it, I thought, let me check YT, and here I am ;-)
You took a lot of work away for me. I thank you for that, m8!
I'll go test and check out your profiles.
But damn I need to do a lot to remember your commands hehe
Keep us up to date! Thx, m8
Oh, after installing Microsoft TTS for Korean I can use this command in Korean too! THX a lot!
thx a lot for the update Woofer.. i love the program right now awesome. thx for the great information on it
thank you, and the algorithm, for this video. Managed Democracy has never failed!
Thats some fine work! Thank you for sharing this.
I honestly think this is cooler than what we have in the game... But oh well
I wish there were more games like that Vietnam Radio commander game, or just more games with voice mechanics. Speech engines are pretty cool when they work well.
@@woofer_808there was a game i played 20 years ago, Enigma: Rising Tide, that could be played solely through voice commands. That scene of torpedo dodging in the film Greyhound? Yeah, was doing that all, "left full rudder, hard over!"
Cool. I can see its usefulness but i like the actual system. It's part of the fun
Hi there, Man this just look amazing, especially for this game. I need to try this. thanks a LOT!!😳
EMS mortar turret has its commands mixed up. It s currently up down down right but it needs to be up down right down
I put up a new version a couple of hours ago that should have that fixed. Thanks for the report though. Keep em coming!
I didnt see the update! Thanks though!@@woofer_808
As a Scot, this would be the equivalent of a permanent scrambler debuff lol

But on a more serious note, there is houpe ;) th-cam.com/video/3E-0-WoRMNA/w-d-xo.html
First of all, this is awesome
Second of all, I can't wait to say 'fire mission fire everything' to send the barrage
Third of all, I'm glad there's an option for having it repeat back to you. I also won't have it on, but I admit, I kinda want it on for the futurism 'star trek' feeling
When you said "hey google" as an example i was wondering why the video stopped playing 😂
;)
man i havent thought of VA since i quite elite. thank gosh for you sir. and god bless the algorithm.... and Democracy
thnx for sharing Ive had VA for ages but this is great thnx for sharing, and spreading Democracy.
Can that annoying feedback beep also be changed to something better? Like maybe to the sound a radio makes when being engaged?
Yes. I picked one of the built-in sounds. They aren't really top notch. But you can put anything you want there from external audio files. There are just two places in the profile where you have to make the change.
I put some info on how to get it done in the manual. thanks for the suggestion
CALL 500KG
*taco bell gong *
I'll change that cause it makes more sense to me that new users do it in the app.
turns out I had it set in both places >_
fantastic, well done sir
I added Calling in so it sounds more natural on voice chat, this way my team also knows I'm about to blow something up. But I love the guide, convinced me to buy the program. I'll likely make profiles for other games now too. But I love the feel of ordering my ship to *ship name* bring liberty tosses 500 towards the enemy. I do think I need a make this area glass command that tosses every orbital/eagle.
That kind of creative personalization was exactly what i was hoping for. Love it!
Go go gadget flamethrower!
Could be an entire theme...
Lol. Inspector Gadget. Love it.
I'm having the same issue. Were you able to figure it out?
Nope, I'm going to try an earlier version if available and see if that works.
Trying to imagine a whole squad with this set up and on Discord in a mess of a fight lmao. Gotta be a good time
Not sure what I’m doing wrong, it opens the stratagem when I give a call like for precision orbital strike. But does not input the keys I did tell it to use the alternative key which acked green or accepted, but no joy
Is there another way to force it to use the arrow keys?
OK, I’ve been digging at this a little bit. I think the problem is is that I’m set to use a single press on control to open stratagems, then arrow keys. I can’t figure out what the system is doing to open the strat? How can set it all cnt single press to start strats or what key is going for?
There is a voice command "voice attack keybind press" for when the in-game setting is "press ctrl" . Check and see if that works better.
@@woofer_808thanks, do you have to run it every time the app restarts?
@@GriffonWalker if you run it by activating it by voice with only the main VA window open it will save properly between sessions
It worked for the first day. Now I cant get it to work. It seems like the program presses ctrl then lets go and never types in the sequence.
Damn! You are the second person that seem to run into this. So tell me if you've done these checks:
a) Run VoiceAttack as administrator and test again
b) Make sure you are using the voice command setting that corresponds to your keybind ("voice attack keybind modified" for arrow keys)
c) Press down all ctrl, shift and alt-keys on your keyboard to make sure they're reset in relation to VoiceAttack.
d) Set the keybind setting to WASD with "voice attack keybind", open notepad and from notepad run the command "request revive" which should then close notepad (because of ctrl+w)
I haven't been able to reproduce this yet. So I am not sure if it's a setting in game or in voiceattack or if it's something about the profile that has gone out of whack. Would be really cool to find out what the issue is though.
e) Do you use any Steelseries pheripherals? An app (Nahimic) seems to be connected to disturbances in the force for VoiceAttack
@@woofer_808 No I use Logi.
Good info, thanks! I am working through a thread on the VA forum to see if I can get any help there. Any news on the other things I replied on before?
This is really cool, but I really like the feeling of pressing buttons to do stuff.
Pretty cool vid! Hopefully the game's anti-cheat isn't overly paranoid about this because this seems pretty fun to use
"Fire mission, Orbital 380 High Explosive Barrage!"
*Rest of squadron flees in terror.*
FINALLY BROTHER!...a fitting pulpit for preaching democracy across the galaxy.
I've had Voice Attack for some time, never used it. NOW I want to.
Wow you are a GOD with voiceAttack Thank you :)
I swear, this has the same energy as anime magic casting system where you shout out the skill being used.
I don't own the game, and I'm still impressed and itching to join and go full anime for super earth XD
Haha! Right?
this is gonna be fun when the illuminates finally comes
ps they have abilities to scramble your inputs
It's a good thing if your team hears you call out your stratagem before using it!
Yeah, the annoying part is when you have bad recognition for a while and repeat the same request a dozen times in a row >_
After 1 or 2 fails I input manually. I'm testing the lite version and added my own stratagems, but request reinforcements is not reliable. I didn't edit that, but it keeps giving me resupply. Overall I'm really liking this! @@woofer_808
The only downside : it must be annoying for the teammates…
Only disadvantage I see with this is the speed in which you get them. Less latency to just outright input the command with muscle memory.
Maybe a set of generic ones that it can randomize between?
DUDE THANK YOU
Has anyone gotten this to work with a controller on PC? I can't seem to figure it out, or if I'm just missing something overall.
@@ShevaiAsanhi, same problem here, same controller, some command work and others are recognized but not executed or not fully executed....did you manage to sort that?!?
